College Football 2012 (1 Viewer)

Not a lot of great games this weekend. But my picks are:

Nebraska 31 Wisconsin 17 - the Big 10 is ugly bad this year. Half the teams are on probation and the other half stink. Wisconsin has gone down the rabbit hole.

Michigan St. 13 Ohio St. 10 - Meyer has great game day luck, but even the hapless Sparky has their day.

Arizona 30 Oregon St. 21 - AZ fresh off a whipping in Oregon pull an upset at home.

West Virginia 41 Baylor 17 - RGIII is in DC which means it's beat down time for the Bears.
 
Great to see that I can mix my two passions (College Football and Toy Soldiers) at this forum.
 
Can't ever remember seeing a game like WVa-Baylor with that many points in regulation. Can anyone here play defense? What a joke. -- Al

Great for Heisman numbers, but WVA has to be concerned with their defense. Baylor was in a similar shootout last year in a bowl game against Washington. But they had RGIII then. It's a bit surprising that they can still generate those kinds of points without him.
 
Army has got to have the worst team in Division I sports right now- lost 23-3 at HOME versus STONY BROOK!!! 4 turnover to include 2 in the "goal" situations.

ASU had a close one with Cal, Cal put up 2 scores near the end of the game to make it 20-17 but ASU held tough. Whew!!
 
Northwestern in ranked for the first time in a few years after beating Indiana. With the Big 10 so weak this year, we have shot of a good finish...which means we'll get clobbered in a bowl game (again!).
 
Some much better games on the schedule this week kicking off with the Mighty Trojans tonight on ESPN:

USC 37 Utah 17 - Utah is not a good team and without their starting QB, but should be jacked to play SC on national TV. This game is all about whether Barkley and the SC offense get on track. If so, it will be a beat down. If not, an ugly win.

LSU 24 Florida 20 - LSU has not been impressive and their offense looks awful. But Les Miles can coach and has one of the best D's around. Close but no upset.

Texas 34 West Virginia 34 - at home the Longhorns should take care of business, but it wouldn't surprise me if WVA lights them up.

South Carolina 20 Georgia 17 - this should be ugly SEC football matchup of two top ten programs that are likely both overrated.

Pretty good call on the USC game. A little closer than USC would have liked, though. -- Al
 
Well, Florida State just proved when on the road and you let an inferior team hang around, bad things happen. Hats of to NC State, but GAWD, Noles would like to have that half of football back. JEEZ. I partially blame the coaches, on Defense, where is the blitz???????????? You have an athletic attacking Defense, Crap, we just "PREVENTED" ourselves from preserving a win.

Oh boy. I am just not having fun football this year in College or Pro.

Bad coaching by Jimbo Fisher. FSU last posession was 3 times up the middle instead of trying to get the first down and keep the ball to run out the clock. He played conservative ball to not lose and lost.

Hats off to UMd. First ACC win and now 3-2. Go Terps. Chris

Hi Chris. UMd now 3-2 after last year's 2-10 is a good sign. Defense played a good second half, pretty much shut WF down. Hills and Diggs show promise but the offense still needs work as it is making too many errors. 3-2 looks good though. -- Al

Al, they were talking about the recruits coming in and sounds like Terps may rebound. Good to hear. Like you said, 3-2 is big improvement over last yr, and that with true freshman at QB.

Shame UMd didn't get the twins in bball. I won out either way they went. :smile2:

WVa is doing a fantastic job on offense but it also doing an equally horrible job on the defensive side. They are averaging 52 points a game on offense. They are giving up 35 points a game on defense. How far can they go with such a disparity in their game? You just know that the defensive problems will cost them in the long run, but it sure makes for an interesting track meet to watch. -- Al

Big week for sorting out the overranked. Florida St. loses to an unranked team. Georgia, Texas and LSU go down. LSU looks awful on offense. They could get to the BCS championship if they win out but it's not going to happen. They will lose to Bama and maybe again. The SEC is looking very average this year. TN and Arkansas are awful. Georgia and LSU overranked. Bama and South Carolina are carrying the load. And Bama hasn't played anyone yet. Notre Dame has been very impressive. It would be great to see ND and USC end the season with a top ten match up.

SEC having a down/average year? Maybe for some of them. Arkansas sure has looked bad. However, the new rankings show Alabama, South Carolina, and Florida all in the Top 5. The road to the championship still looks to be in the SEC at this point. -- Al

Chris, as you know I am a UMD Grad and a letter winner there in Football, but hats off to the kids yes, but part of me wants that coach out and a new start again. He is not my cup of tea and I am not too sure they will win many more, although lot of mediocrity in the ACC. I am quite torn on them. Part of me wants to burn my diploma until he is gone. I just can't get over the whole Fridge thing, I think the new guy is an arrogant bum. Hard to root against your alma mater, but my family cancelled season tix after over 30 years b/c of that Coach. Ironically, the way my sports season is going, MD will probably make a bowl...........oh Lord.

Almost forgot, yes Jimbo screwed up badly, I didn't elaborate past he Prevent Defense, but you are correct, we played Prevent offense also..............................didn't I post here last year about how much I hate that strategy.......Deja Vu.

Army picks up that first win of the season with a victory over BC. Even gave up a 99 yard TD run!! Woot Woot!! Bring on the middies!!{sm4}

ASU plays Thursday night. Should be good!!!
