The CDC has now come out and said the chances of getting COVID from a surface is next to zero, ie, you're not going to get COVID by touching a door knob, then touching your face.

But that won't stop people from dowsing themselves in a gallon of hand sanitizer, drowning their mail in lysol or wearing Boston Strangler gloves to go grocery shopping in July..........................

I read an article that said no industry has been decimated by Covid worse than cruise lines...
which haven't been allowed to sail to or from any US port for over a year...
basically shut down and out of business...

Norwegian Cruise lines just announced that when they re-open...soon they hope...
they will require all passengers to show proof of a current Covid vaccination before boarding...

As we are on their mailing list, we get emails daily. Although I enjoy cruises (my family not so much), it’s not something we will be doing anytime soon .

I actually cringe when I see Fauci on one of his endless TV interviews. What a disaster. The endless spinning and pontificating. Someone should quietly retire him. Give him a golden mask and send him packing.

George,

Well that is good news! But, I still don't trust it when it comes to grossness, i.e. you don't know where that hand has been before they touch that door handle or whatever. HOWEVER COMMA, I/we touch things all day long and the only place I see my self trying not to touch is a public bathroom.

I have to wonder if all the hand washing/hand sanitizing/drowning in lysol is cutting down on the germs factor in general.

That in and of itself is a good thing.

I still use hand sanitizer immediately upon returning to my vehicle from running errands, I also immediately wash my hands upon coming home, but my days of wiping down groceries, wiping down every surface in my condo on a regular basis, leaving packages outside for 24 hours/checking the mail in my drop box twice a week are gone thankfully, I'm not going to die from stress from worrying about surface contact.

I always crack myself up when after washing my hands in the men's room, I then grab the filthy door handle to exit the men's room...................:rolleyes2:

And oh, BTW, got my first jab yesterday...........CVS in Canton MA, 20 minute drive, 11:00am appointment, got there at 10:50, registered, went down to the back of the store/pharmacy, there was a chair waiting, got the jab, waited 15 minutes, got the all clear, then out the door.

Easy as pie.....................after dicking around for two and half weeks to get my shot, dose #1 is over and done with.............no side effects, no pain, no nothing.

Thank you GOD!!

I remember waiting for my first shot appointment...
as the days got closer to my appointment...
I made an extra effort to stay home and stay Covid free...
I just wanted to stay vaccine free til then...

It reminded me of Capt. Brody's speech in the movie Jaws...

"that was the time I was most frightened...waiting for my turn"...

Mike,
I'm sitting here laughing my *** off after reading this; I thought I was the only one, the three days leading up to it were excruciating, I had a slight cough Monday night, started to freak out, imagine waiting this long and then having to cancel at the last minute and start all over again..........it passed after a short time thankfully.

I am convinced going through this ****show has shaved five years off of my life.................I thought I had it once, that was a horrible time for me, "luckily" it was only a mild case of food poisoning..............................bottom line is I don't give two ****s, I DO NOT want to get this thing, period, too many variables, can be a big nothing burger or it could be something that affects you the rest of your life, no thanks.

The nurse told me I'm 80% covered after dose #1, but still be careful, wear my mask, socially distance still, just play it safe for three more weeks, then two weeks after that........................

Then what; the rest of my life after that??..................^&grin

George...
there are now several variants of this flu that have mutated/morphed into a very contagious and more deadly form...
a young age group of Texans seem to be getting hit pretty hard with these new cases...
I'm sure it will spread elsewhere also...
sad as that is...
as younger people see their age group get sick...
I'm hoping it will encourage the younger age groups to get vaccinated..
where they didn't want to before...

as far as your life going on...
I personally will be wearing a mask for probably years to come in unfamiliar or sketchy crowds that I think could be suspect...
less cautious with my mask wearing protocol around friends and family that I know have been inoculated and I am comfortable with...
I suggest you just bite the bullet and do so too...
life goes on...nut up and bear it...
the alternative sucks!

also like you...I was a little psychosomatic about any aches, pains or coughs I had experienced before my first shot...
if I farted...if I had a back ache...if I was just tired...I thought I had Covid...

Laughing about the surfaces. I have to waste my time going to my office tomorrow to clean my shelves so they can do a deep clean prior to semi open on May 5. SO, here is how the conversation went - Me - so the CDC says the surface contagion is a myth, so why are we spending 15K for this? Answer from someone with a higher title than me - Corporate policy. Me - so exactly how much has my financial statement been charged since last March? Answer - not sure but near 75-90K in additional cleaning. Me - so, why are we doing this again if no one has entered my particular office since March 2021 other than to constantly wipe it down? Answer - it is corporate policy. Me - So if corporate policy told you to run into a wall, that would be your answer? As I like to say, you honestly cannot make this crap up other than I know that our office is lighter by at least a $100K. Guess that is our contribution to the service economy.

unreal...
I'll tell Biden you're doing your part to stimulate the economy...

on a side note...
Walmart's new policy...

I wanted to buy some walking shorts...not to be confused with underwear...walking shorts with a zipper...

in their infinite wisdom...
their policy is to lock and forbid the usage of their dressing rooms...
stop Covid in it's track with that move...
buy them and try them on when you get home the lady told me...

it's okay to walk right next to 300 shoppers...
but don't go in the changing room by yourself...it's not safe...

the new America...

George, just use common sense.

As far as cleaning goes, I’m still cleaning my hands after I touch a surface. It doesn’t hurt to be extra cautious. Even if it doesn’t do anything, if it gives you an added sense of security, there’s no harm. Moreover, habits developed over the past year can’t be broken overnight.

Right; new strains, now they are telling us in MA the UK and Brazil strains are the most numerous version in our state...................more contagious........now more deadly; funny, Fauci said the new strains are more contagious, but not more more deadly.

So now they are.

So will the vaccine protect us?

They said originally yes; now watch, a new vaccine will be invented to combat the new strains..........so we'll need that jab too.

Then next Fall, new variants will pop up, so we'll need a jab for those too.

Human pin cushions.

That's what we'll all be.

This deep cleaning BS is the latest load of crap now; the company that we hire to clean our carpets is now offering "A deep cleaning" for all households; a three man crew comes in dressed like they work at a nuclear reactor, literally scrub our walls, all surfaces deep cleaned, floors cleaned and disinfected, same with the carpets, plus the furniture, bathrooms scrubbed floor to ceiling............for the low low cost of 495.00.....................

Yeah; no thanks.

But thanks anyway.

Some people see a pandemic; others see $$$$$$$$$$.

George...

the influenza shot...
or regular flu shot...(before Covid)...
that a lot of people get every year...me included...for as long as I can remember...

is reworked every year to combat what they expect the upcoming flu season will bring...
nobody knows what type of influenza shot will be administered next year...
it's based off of this current years success...
it's based on guesstimates and scientific history of last years flu...

I would expect/hope...
that in the future there will be one combined flu shot...
for both influenza and whatever Covid mutation is expected the following year...

just get your shots and protect yourself...
it's all you can do...

Two weeks post second shot here!
Still making in public.
It was a big day here - went to the grocery store. I had been doing instacart. I’m diabetic and Live with my mother and my niece is badly immunocompromised, so as a family we took zero risks!
It’s an odd relief having the vaccine onboard even if it isn’t perfect.

My oldest son, a platoon Sgt in the 101st, and his unit deployed to Camp Atterbury, IN for an exercise. He and 14 other soldiers in his troop came down with the COVID virus. Told me he was very sick for two days and then fully recovered. He has to isolate for 14 days.

I'm surprised the military is not vaccinating the troops. They give shots for everything else, we even had to take anti-Anthrax pills when the possibility of contamination (WWIII with the Soviets) was remote.

My wife is getting her second dose today. Chris
