that's sad...
bordering on criminal if they are disposing them because of a lack of patients due to a classification restriction...
my sister told me that in Dallas...
sponsored by the fire department...
they are literally knocking door to door (concentrating in lower socio-economic neighborhoods...not making this up)...
offering it to anyone if they have a surplus...
with good results in not wasting any...

All,

I got three text messages for COVID vaccines in the last week. One from the City, one from Baptist Hospital and one from the VA that basically said bring EVERYBODY. But as y'all know I already got the first shot in my red satin boxers. Oh, and I have to cancel my original appointment. Texas is a boomin with vaccines now.

Went my daughters former High School soccer game(s) this past week as they are in the playoffs and we go to dinner prior to the game. Anyway, one of the soccer moms was pissed that her mom got the vaccine as she is a anti-vaccine, fauci is a the Zodiac Killer fake news kind of gal. I was taken aback at her brazen attitude, but then she hit me with the "I have the right to say no to the vaccine" and I said "y'know what your right, you do and good luck going to Cabo this year" She laughed it off and swallowed hard on her margarita. Yeah, she's THAT parent who shows up to a soccer game with a few back.

I ain't laughing and I am still looking for my COVID card, cause I'm outta here. The boss lady has a map of Costa Rica up the other day and I didn't say anything as to not disturb her concentration on travel plans. For all I know she is planning something in El Salvador with some ex-sandinistas...thinking its a Sandals Club or something.

George, if you come to Texas to get your shot, please for the love of God don't wear a tank top that says BOSTON on it. Nobody wears tank tops here and if you show up to get your shot, they will have you escorted out of the building just on principal. Jeans, boots, shorts and sandals is all cool. Tank tops...no.

No worries, I threw all my tank tops out once I stopped going to the gym 17 years ago..................sandals; yeah, no............the best looking dude in the world can't pull off sandals.......JFK Jr, Brad Pitt, Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DeCaprio...............none of them can pull off sandals.

And tell that boozebag soccer Mom good luck going to Cabo......or anywhere for that matter without proof of vaccination, it's going to become mandatory.

flip flops in Galveston...^&cool
no sandals...

PA is suddenly awash in vaccines. Everyone will be eligible here by April 19. Someone who works in a pharmacy told me that they throw away thousands of doses because they don't have sufficient demand among the eligible classes and they are apparently not allowed to give it to anyone else. So put on that Amish costume George and come on down to PA.

I don't need sandals too to pull off that look do I; if so, forget it.

Just when the stink bugs are starting to go away, I learn today that something called Brood X is on the way. Plagues and locust. Biblical times.

Maryland 16 and over eligible, we are awash in vaccines too. Enjoyed business lunch inside the other day, felt more normal for sure! I am sick of this crap and ready to go. Hopefully things keep opening and we keep seeing more and more normal.

So as several of you know, I've been inpatiently waiting for close to two weeks for MA to contact me about my vaccination.

This morning as I'm eating breakfast, my phone chimes; I have an appointment through one of the MA mass vaccination sites.

I'm thinking sure as **** it's Gillette Stadium as that is 25 minutes from here.

Nope, not even close.

They want to send me to downtown Boston to the Hynes Convention Center...............

WHAT??

On a good day, it's an hour and 15 minutes from here.

On a bad day; you'd better pack a lunch and have a full tank of gas.

I reluctantly pick a time, 1:00pm on Monday............

So now what? I was thinking about doing a dry run on Sunday (no, not my Easter, I'm Greek), but what a pain in the ***. You have to park in a garage the size of NY, remember where you parked, then hike to this place.....................it's MASSIVE and it's a new center, so are there any kinks they are trying to work out? Who knows.........................we're talking HUNDREDS, maybe THOUSANDS of jabs a day.

Not feeling warm and fuzzy about this.

At all.

Then my sister tells me "Go on the CVS website after midnight, that's when they load in appointments, keep trying, keep entering in zip codes that are near you, you'll get something closer, trust me".......

So, at midnight I jump on..........hammering away, nothing...............nothing.............nothing.....keep entering in the same 5 zip codes around me.......................then appointments pop up with a date.........Monday..........then try a time.........FULL.................then Tuesday.............then try a time.................FULL.............man these people are FAST............then Wednesday............then try a time........BINGO; 11:00AM.

I'm IN!!

So excited.

To go get jabbed.

Man; I need a life.

Unfortunately, that’s a typical experience. It took us a lot of trying to get an appointment. Once you get your first they should give you an appointment for the second (unless it’s J & J) but please make sure you ask if they don’t. The chances that it’s J & J (the one shot deal) are remote right now because a batch of 15 MM doses was accidentally ruined and need to be destroyed.

Glad you're scheduled for the initial jab George. But wow! Sure sounds like it's more complicated in MA to get scheduled than it was here in WI. My clinic notified me of availability, I called an got an appointment, received the shots at same clinic 5 miles from me. Anyway, the important thing is that you are finally scheduled.

**** George, if you had better planning, you could have made Gettysburg........................:) Seriously, glad you got scheduled!
Tom
PS - it sure does boost the confidence, I have a work week scheduled to go to LA, then Texas, then Ohio. Life is on like Donkey Kong.

Yeah I thought of that actually.....................first one is Wednesday, second one is the 28th..............

Besides its massive death toll COVID seems to have also killed hope and positivity.

I was no fan of the Texas Governor removing the mask mandate but in the 3 weeks since his declaration Texas’ numbers have never been lower, from new infections to deaths and everything in-between.

Yet despite the good news just about every local media outlet has tried to deny the good news.

I sincerely believe that we can remain diligent while enjoying little victories.

Here in MA, despite the close to year long mask mandate, our numbers are going up, up, up, over the past month we averaged 70,000 infections per month.......the past couple of weeks especially the numbers have gone up.

Meanwhile, so are the number of people getting vaccinated, we're averaging 70,000 or so people a day; so then why are the numbers going up?

Oh that; that new strain from Brazil is popping up, we've had a large number of cases of people with that strain.

One step forward, two steps back.

Jason...

that's a strange stat isn't it...
but glad it's going down so drastically...
Dec...Jan...and Feb new cases were rampant...
now March comes and new cases are as low as July 2020...
seeing a lot of people in Galveston sans masks lately...
I expected an uptick though March Spring Break...
which hasn't materialized yet...
so yea...good news...uncanny to me...but good...

I got my second shot today. In two weeks I can start living a little bit . . . maybe go to a restaurant.:salute::
