Coming along really nicely. A brilliant touch to use lamps which, will light up the dio and make a great effect. Only ever seen that done once using dolls house sets

Great to see this moving along so well. You do make it all look very easy though we know its not

Looks like you are having a ball there Mike. Things appear to be coming along nicely with this project. Looking forward to seeing it finished and set up with some figures in place now.

Your fortress is coming along very well Michael - just brilliant!

Thanks Joe...Mitch...Dave...Tally Ho...and Mike...

I apologize...I have really been slack on this project...

I tweaked my neck about a while back...I don't know how I did it...

the Doc gave me some steroid shots twice, some 800mg Ibuprofen (horse pills) and some Hydrocodone...

that was almost a month ago...

this thing is not going away...

I went for an MRI Monday...but panicked big time...I'm totally claustrophobic and freaked out in that tube...I couldn't do it...

sooooooooooooo........

I'm getting ready to get a myelogram and a cat scan this week...

this thing is really hurting and not going away...

I know everybody has had a bad neck ache or back ache before...so you know how painful they can be...

because of this...hehehe...and my laziness...I have done very little on my fort...

anyway...

I did finish the steps (stairway) today and they turned out really well...I will put some railings on them before I'm finished...

here's some pics...

this is the hardest thing I have ever made...the steps...there are about 30 steps...so it took a while...

it's so hard keeping it all level...

I can't believe nobody makes runners for stairs for 60mm scale dioramas....hint hint hint...somebody start making some simple wooden runners that we can build on please...

Neat job on the stairs Michael. You should take up 1:1 scale construction work!

And as for working slowly, I think I speak for the majority on this forum when I say you work faster than a fast thing on a particularly fast day. I've got multiple projects well over a year old.

thanks a lot Simon...

I re-did all the steps...what a pain in the butt...anyway...here's some pics...

Kind of hard to walk up the stairs with a base stuck on your feet Mike.:D:D

I got a lot of work done today...

I did some stuff that I have been avoiding...so I'm glad I knocked it out...

I textured all the inside buildings and got a dry brush on them...I just used a basic white for the dry brush to get everything to sparkle a little bit...it sure picked up the texture of the stucco nice...I have not textured the inside walls yet...maybe I will do that tomorrow and glue all the interior building in permanently...

I got all the doors done...I still have not added the doors to the bottom row of barracks...but they are finished and I will do that tonight...this fort has 11 doors...hehehe...I said in the first post I wanted a lot of wood in it...

you can see the top row of barracks has doors already installed...I want to run a banister on the edge of the walkway on the upper level of barracks...like the ones I did in the arched entrys...I also want to to add banisters to the rest of the arched entries and all along the interior of the catwalks around the fort....

the structure under the large set of stairs (by the camel) is going to be a water trough...I will paint it blue/black on the inside and add Magic Water to it...

I still want to make a lookout tower on top of the arched door structure...maybe about a foot high with a ladder going to the top...

I'm still waiting on the 10 lanterns I ordered...they would be easier to install before I glued all the structures in permanently...but I did leave access to ever room and wall from the underneath...

I'm dying to adhere all the structures permanently and grout in any gaps...

This is the water trough...I gotta move this door handle...it's really bugging me...

I want to put railings or banisters on all the black lines...

the lookout tower will go on top of the pink platform...

All kidding aside it's a great fort, especially so since this is the first one you tried to make.

This is shaping up really nicely Michael, thanks for taking us along for the ride !!

You are really getting your fort "knocked out" Michael. Looking forward to the finished product which should be soon at the pace you work at. Very nice . . . .

Thanks Mark, Joe, Scott and Mike...I did a little railing and called it quits for today...
