Let it Snow (1 Viewer)

Just when I was going to revisit the Patriots cheating in the Super Bowl and roll out "Belicheat" and "Shady" you are quitting the sports threads? Get better. This forum would not be the same without you.

Thanks................good luck on Sunday, having a dog in the fight this time of year is a precious thing, doesn't happen every year, so enjoy it.

"On another note; I haven't been posting much around here lately due to a few reasons, mostly I have been slammed with business, which is a great thing, but I also tested positive for COVID, I had the sniffles, a slight fever and a slight cough, I've had worse colds, but I had to shut things down for 5 days and I was mostly just tired, so I was not on the forum much at all during that time, I'm fine now.

How I got it is a complete mystery, I wear a mask everywhere I go, I haven't gotten together with my friends to watch football in over a month, so no clue, unless some ******* who was sick with COVID touched something that I then touched, no clue really."

George, glad to hear you're doing okay.

Funny, around here, central Kentucky, people freak out over 1-2" of snow and accidents everywhere. Used to go to SW Colorado for vacation each winter. Town is at 7,000' and got about 30" of snow in a 36 hr period one yr. People and businesses didn't miss a beat. No traffic accidents and everything was normal.

Thanks for your concern Chris, I appreciate it.

Understood what you are saying, would rather live here in the Northeast where people know how to deal with the snow, tomorrow may be a bit dicey, but Sunday all will be fine, no issues.

I used to do a show in Annandale VA; the promoter ran the show in June and December, then he got the brilliant idea to run a cabin fever show.........in February.

The first few times he ran it, he got lucky as February is the snowy month for the most part.

Then one year, his luck ran out, a storm rolled in on Thursday, 4 or so inches...............the show is held in a bingo hall behind a firehouse, the fire chief told the promoter no go for Saturday, he could not guarantee the lot would be plowed by then/sidewalks shoveled.

So two days out from a storm and no guarantees; keep in mind when it rains in VA there are traffic jams everywhere, so it was for the best.......................

Another show I don't miss at all.

Well this happens with every snow storm here in MA, not sure why today I was surprised when I went to the supermarket and it looked like a combination of the day before Thanksgiving and the day of the Super Bowl, parking lot mobbed, had to hunt around for a carriage, get inside, the deli is MOBBED.

Mostly wrecking ball housewives buying enough cold cuts to feed the Russian Army, God forbid their kids can't go outside for two days, so they need a stack of bologna four feet high to feed their rugrat kids.

The milk, bread, eggs were practically wiped out, I keep forgetting French Toast must be the food of choice during a snow storm.

All of this nonsense over a storm that will last about 16 hours and be over by Saturday night, the roads will be a bit tricky on Saturday, but they will be fine Sunday, but try telling these morons that.

Thanks fellas to the several of you who reached out to me to check on me, just wanted to let the rest of you know.........................

Oh and one other thing; yes, I am done posting in the sports threads too BTW.

PERIOD.

Glad you're doing better George, keep the home fires burning this weekend as it sounds like it might get a bit nasty your way.....hoping you'll reconsider the sports thread, we certainly had some lively discussions on all kinds of sports topics but I get more laughs out of your posts then anything, in any sports forum you better have thick skin as disagreements, arguments, different points of view, yada, yada....anyway hope you'll return posting there as well.

Yup, we're going to get clobbered, now saying 24 to 30 inches is possible, really bad from about noon till 5:00PM, 2 inches an hour for 5 hours strait...............wow, that's brutal.

Thanks for your thoughts regarding the sports threads.

My whole end game was laughs/sarcasm, glad you understood that.

Others do not.

I'm done.

For good.

Why do the Weather Channel people stand in the road to give their live reports? It seems dangerous but also perplexing. Isn't there anywhere else to stand outside during a snowstorm? I keep waiting for some typical NE driver to come by and take them out. Also, who drives in a blizzard? Where are these people going on a Saturday that is so important that they are out in an historic snowstorm? The Weather Channel folks were showing all sort of vehicles stuck in the snow.

How you boys on the Northern East Coast doing??

We got what they said we were going to get, close to 3 feet.

No lie; the drifts in some places are 5 to 6 feet high, it's a mess and a disaster.

We didn't lose power because the snow was light and fluffy, did not stick to branches and limbs, weigh them down and have them come crashing down, taking out power lines.

Supposed to be super cold tonight and tomorrow night too...............my gas meter is completely buried in snow, I can't ever figure out exactly where it is or how to get to it, so it's going to freeze up and the gas is going to go out, then some bozo from the gas company will have to come out here, unfreeze it and turn all my pilot lights back on.

Wonderful.

Thanks for your concern; we survived..........................what a mess. Today it's sunny and the roads are all clear, went out and bought my game day snacks and booze, I ran out of booze yesterday..............;).................

They do a top shelf job of plowing around here, practice makes perfect.

We're still here..............my next door neighbor dug the gas meter out, we put a large board over it to prevent icicles from hitting it or water dripping on it and it freezing up, I think we'll be good.

It's all over now, Wednesday it's supposed to be near 50 degrees.............a real heat wave.

Glad to hear that you survived the great blizzard of 2022 with no serious issues. Let's hope that the next 6 weeks of weather is a lot less crazy

Thanks Mike.

I don't mind the snow that much at all, aside from the issue of the power possibly going out..............the bitter cold OTOH, I can do without.............whenever the air temperature goes to single digits/below zero, that's crazy talk.............

We got clobbered pretty good. Usually north Jersey seems to get more than us but coming up the coast I knew we would get clobbered and we did.

Nothing in Maryland to speak of where I am. Shore got hit but no damage down there for us. Lucky miss. My nor’eastern friends got it pretty good although they have the equipment to handle it and get rid of it.

I watched the Gilligan's Island marathon on 201 yesterday....................the highlight of my weekend...........Saturday all I did was look out the window and watch the snow pile up.

Texas is expected to be below freezing from Wednesday through Sunday.

Thankfully the forecast only calls for light snow and sleet.

For those Texans that don’t like the cold and snow fear not, in less than 3 months it will be close to 100 degrees (again).

Yup, Panzer I have a laundry list of prep work today...pipes, plants, etc. I am going to place a religious candle by my new generator and light it.

Probably better than watching The Shining. The laugh tracks on those old TV shows were hilarious. I once met Bob Denver at a book signing. He was a strange dude. I think he eventually retired to WVA before he passed away.
