MD's painted kits thread (2 Viewers)

Hey, thanks Mike and Scott. And I am indeed getting completely hooked on this process. Also learning to be more patient and not too worried about "going out of the lines" first time around, as you can just go back and clean it up with the next application.

Really looking good Dave. You are getting better and better.

Cheers Mark. And here are a few more recent progress photos. Currently deciding how to handle all the leather bits now.

Your trooper is coming along brilliantly Dave. Excellent job . . . .
:) Mike

Hey thanks Mitch and Mike. The work continues little by little. I've spent quite a bit of time on the leather items and the carbine since these last photos were taken. More pics up soon I think. :)

Alright, well here is the completed version of Andrea's 7th Cavalry trooper in 54 mm. Fairly pleased with how this one turned out. As always I have some ideas about what to do differently on the next project (and I have several more underway on the workbench as we speak ).

Hope you enjoy....

Dave, I like this one - turned out very well! :)

Fabulous looking MD - very well done, even down to the detail on the base. I couldn't help but notice that you have some kind of "white stuff" all over the ground in your neighborhood. We had the same occurrence here last night and it is continuing a little bit today. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr . . . . winter is here!
:) Mike

Nice painting of the cavalry man. Your work is going well. I enjoy your updates on figure painting.

Hey, thanks for the feedback Jeff, Mike and John. This one was a lot of fun to work on. I am getting pretty hooked on the process now so hope to continue improving techniques with time. And unless somebody asks me to stop, I will continue to add new projects to the thread as they are completed.

It sounds like you have been spared the snow so far Mike, as we've had a fair amount already this year. Living down in your neck of the woods for 10 years previously (Ripon), it always amazed me how much less accumulation of snow occurred in comparison to neighboring southern Minn. And yes, it is bloody cold here too. :(

MD, are you going to stay with the western figures? I enjoy figures of the west and the plains. Other then old northwest, there is not many painted figures out there. The castings Andrea makes are nice. I remember Ripon WI. when I would fish for walleye on Green Lake when I worked in Milwaukee. John

Yes John, pretty much all of my current inventory and wanted list are Western related including gunfighters, Cavalrymen and Native American figures. Currently working on Bat Masterson by Hornet Miniatures, and a Teton Sioux hunter from La Meridiana. Just hit a massive Andrea kits sale at Military Miniatures Warehouse and have 5 or 6 more cowboys coming any day now.

Green Lake is a lovely spot. My wifes' family have a big old summer house on the North Shore and we spend a lot of time over there still.

By all means, keep painting and sharing Dave. :)

Wendy, I will consider your vote to be a sufficient mandate to continue posting. :D

Haven't had time to do anything this week so I'd better get busy.....

Another great figure Dave. I like how you even add vegetation to the bases, excellent finishing touch.
