MD's painted kits thread (1 Viewer)

Hello - I'm a new boy - and have been looking at Optivisor pictures on this thread. I had seen images of them before - but didn't know what they were called.
SO
bunged in Optivisor to google - found onethat looked too cheap to be true - orderded it
- it arrived - and WOW! - I can SEE!

Thanks chum - it's a brilliant bit of kit. johnnybach

I've used one for years for the fine detail, just don't wear it around the house - scares the children!:D

Well alright Johnnybach. I am glad you've been sufficiently inspired to get one of these. And now I hope you will start posting some of your stuff on here too. :)

Another great figure Dave. I like how you even add vegetation to the bases, excellent finishing touch.

Thanks Scott. Those Fredericus Rex grass clumps were a really good investment. Got plenty of them too. Also been slowly gluing up some loose long grass clumps by hand for future projects. Hoping to start making more of my own bases and scenery eventually. :)

Hey, thanks for the heads up on the MMW sale. I picked up one of the pirates, some paint, and some heads. :D

That was a great sale. I got a couple of cowboys and some extra cowboy hats. Apparently he will have more stuff soon.....:)

Okay MD - when I get back to where my collection lives - I will - just wanted to say thanks again for the tip-off about the visor. Best thing I've found since they invented sliced bread. johnnybach

Latest completed project is a sharp little kit by Hornet Miniatures depicting famed 19th C. lawman Bat Masterson. Was surprised at how nice this item was right out of the box and required literally no cleanup whatsoever.

Found it challenging to make the mid grey colored suit "pop". Overally pretty happy with the finished project.

Happy New Year!

Thanks for the comments Scott and Mark. As I said already, this was a nice little kit with good detail which I am finding makes a big difference when it comes to the painting part.

Here are a few shots of the unfinished figure.

Cheers Mitch. It is certainly possible down the road though not likely soon. I've got at least 12 mos worth of projects stockpiled at the moment.:p

Dave,

Another unusual figure, which is new to me and a nice finish too.

Have just finished another project this week and got some suitable photos ready for posting. This one was a lot of fun and a bit more challenging than the prior subjects I've attempted. He is a Teton or Lakota Sioux hunter from La Meridiana who make some really nicely sculpted kits. Though sold as 54 mm figures these are really more like 60 mm or so.

Put a little more work into the base on this one too and this first set of photos shows the box art, the base I've created while still in progress and the figure itself in progress.

And now for the finished product which includes some of Hudson & Allen's snow. This was really easy to work with and gives a very nice looking effect once dry.

Cheers John. Coming from my favorite painter, your feedback is very much appreciated. And as I said, I should have 1 or 2 more up for viewing in the next week or two so please keep an eye out....:)
