Stay safe my friend and if you fancy a trip to the Great White North I have space for you here. If you don't mind all the critters :)

You boys in Texas keep your heads down and stay safe. Keeping you all in my thoughts. -- Al

this is the best website/hobby I have ever joined...
for real...
to have several people extend their homes and hospitality is most generous and flattering...

toy soldier guys rule!

I sincerely appreciate all the offers...but I think I'm gonna ride this out...
thank you John...Sammy...Zach...Louis...Larry...for the extremely generous offers to host me...

my home is brick...it's sturdy...my roof is tight...thew windows are well protected against wind/debris with the electric roll down shutters...

I have a propane gas grill to cook on if the power goes out...pantry and ice box are stocked...gas in the car...
beaucoup cash in my wallet...
CASH IS KING in a crisis...

I heard on the radio we might get 100 mph gusts...severe flooding...and that once it hits landfall it may travel east to Galveston...

the part about traveling east towards me is most scary...

but I'm good...I'm gonna buckle down and hope for the best...

thank you all for your well wishes and offers of hospitality...

Mike, Stay safe and if need be leave.....Don't risk it. It doesn't look good !

You are in my prayers. Stay safe and keep us posted. This sounds on a par with the Galveston hurricane of 1900.

Take care Michael, we're thinking of you mate

Martyn:)

I am currently in California, watching the news and the Doppler of the storm is simply frightening.

My wife says the store shelves are empty in San Antonio. I asked her to check the beer aisle and she said it was the most empty aisle in the store. You just gotta love Texas!

Mike. Never mind Boston you all gotta' come on up here to Maine. We have Lobster, Clams, and all the seafood that you can eat until you drop.
The beaches are open, the sun is warm and endless miles of sand and "gentle" surf.

Or you can just sit in my 48 acres of forest and fight off the mosquitoes while down some cold Sam Adams and grilled sausage.

But seriously, please play it on the safe side.

--- Larry

Larry,
I am coming to Maine, that sounds awesome, seafood, beer and sausages, I will be there when the remnants make it to Maryland!!!

Seriously, Mike - stay safe, I just left Houston on Wednesday and I was happy to disappear. My clients were not at all happy and bracing for the worst, hoping for the best.

Just saw an update, now Cat. 4....brother Mike I wish you all the well wishes in the world, but man, that's some serious stuff coming your way, 22-36 inches of rain, winds topping 130 plus, good luck again friend, don't hesitate to pull up stakes and get out of Dodge if you feel unsure.

Sounds like a plan, Tom.
I'll be on the lookout for some Lobsters, steam clams, corn and get the grill fired up for the onions, peppers and sausage.

Mike, I have the weather channel on and keeping an eye on the events ..... don't take any unnecessary chances.

Fingers and legs crossed and an extra prayer tonight !

My thoughts and prayers are with Mike and all the people in the path of this monster.

John...are you guys starting to get some yet?
looking at the radar...looks like you should be getting some rain and wind...
seems like downtown floods easy every time I'm there and it rains...

Nothing yet Mike:

Lite rain in the afternoon. winds up to 14 mph but even had some clearing evening. It's now 11:23pm.

Very pleasant evening so far with temps around 79 degrees. It's usually around 85-90 degrees this time of evening during the Summer.

I live approximately 3 miles north of downtown San Antonio.

Carlos

Louis...

I'm fine...it hasn't rained here in 2-3 hours...the wind is insignificant...

I lost a few shingles...there's some small debris to clean up...broken branches mostly...

Carlos and John would be getting more than me probably as Harvey has moved north west towards San Antonio...

it's downgraded to a Tropical Storm now...with winds under 74 mph...

Galveston...so far...has escaped anything major...

the storm is supposed to do a backwards loop going south and then proceed north again...

but will continue to rain heavily on anything in it's path til Tuesday/Wednesday causing flash flood and flood alerts...

we had 1 tornado...no flooding here to speak of...

I have been working in the garage today...
and it looks like life as usual for my neighbors...
people jogging...
cleaning up their yards...
cars moving around...
etc...

I think there was 1 fatality so far...not here...but somewhere in the areas hit with tornados...I believe they perished in a house fire...

thank you and thank everyone else for your concerns and worries over me...

I'm totally flattered and amazed over the the awesome friends I have made from this hobby and website...

That's a good way for me to wake on a Sunday morning and start the day Mike. Appreciate your quick update to put my mind at rest. Robin.
