Moe's JJD Model Collection (2 Viewers)

Moe,

I'm loving all these shots of your Jenkins planes. Well done.

I thought you might like this photo of the real thing. I was at the Pensacola Naval Air Museum this past weekend.

Thank you for the encouragement, Duke.:D

There’s an interesting twist to the plane at Pensacola. It’s actually a USAAC P-12e that’s been lovingly massaged into looking the part the Navy’s F4B-4. The big differences between the two are the latter’s much larger tail-fin and rudder, and its larger headrest fairing for stowing a life-raft. The only real F4B-4 remaining in existence is located at the NASM.

My take with a different plane:

Shamelessly moved the scene to Pearl Harbor.

Moe, that is a wonderful shot. You are just getting better and better at this. Great inspiration, as well. Love the 'Flying Barrel' and wouldn't mind seeing a flight of these emerge from John's Aircraft Manufacturing Company. It would be a logical progression from the F4B to the F4F. Anyway, I love the picture. -- Al

Thanks Al. A Grumman would, indeed, be a nice addition. For now, I’m just trying to keep up with the new releases!:redface2:

Nice. Thanks for the thought. Good job finding an early picture of Sara without the funnel stripe.:wink2: -- A:wink2:l

Took some pics of ACE-215, the O'Hare Wildcat:

For more, there's a slideshow here:

Finally, here's a pic of O'Hare with a F4F-3 that's from the same period as the plane modeled by Jenkins:

Very very nice collection of JJD planes and excellent shots Moe.

These are some pics of ACE-35R. IMO, the Fokker D.VII is Jenkins' best scale model:

A slide show, as there are simply too many images to format and upload here:

And the model in motion:

I do love that radiator and engine detail. These later JJD D-7's were much improved in accuracy and detail over the initial D-7 effort, the all white Goering Fokker. Having said that, the Goering Fokker is a striking color scheme and one I'm glad to have, but the Udet Fokkers are superior models. -- Al

Who can resist poppies in a Great War pic?

Mv-R-Fokker-Dr1-Transparency.jpg

The flower has an interesting quality in that, at it's center, there's a cross. Further, when the crepe-like petals unfold, the cross is white. However, it (the cross) turns black within a matter of hours. They were imported into Central Texas after WWI by residents who wanted to memorialize the region's war dead. Every spring, the community where I live has a "Red Poppy Festival," the origins of which are largely lost on the citizenry, native born and newcomer, alike.

Beautiful shot, Moe. Like how the light and shadows on the aircraft match the light source of the landscape. Very nicely done.:salute:: -- Al

Thanks Al,

Had a rain day after Xmas, and you can see the results.;)
