Harry I don't see The Duke scambling for his tiger. Great photos not accepting any more cop outs that your photos aren't up to snuff......The Lt.

Well, granted that even I can see they are getting better - I'm still fickering with the settings on the new camera though, and I haven't even tried the wide-angle and super-macro lenses yet.
I'm a bit confused by your first comment though (an event that's almost too easy to achieve). Are you referring to John Wayne in that cheesy "The Flying Tigers" movie - which I happen to luv by the way. Or might you be talking about the "Real Duke", and are suggesting a diorama set in India during the latter part of the 18th Century when he was plain old Arthur Wellesley (spelling)..?? Actually, I think this could be a great idea. Think I'll sleep on this one during my next Thailand rotation and see what I can come up with. Although its set in 1817, something A La "Sharpe's Challenge" springs to mind. And I do have the two Collectors Club Bombay and Bengal Lancers that I could incorporate even though their uniforms are around 80 years in the future - but then again, strict historical accuracy doesn't bother me as long as the display/diorama looks good and tells a story.

Harry,

Now that turned out nice didn't it! :)

Thanks Jeff,
If the projected Charge of the Scots Greys works out as well as this one did, then I'll certainly be a happy camper.
The approach I take with building thyese dios seems to work for me.
First I mess around with the layouts and try a few different combinations. Once I have a general idea of how I want the scene to look, the groundwork goes on and once it's dry, on goes the first batch of paint.
The figures are then blended into the base using plain old thinned-down plaster which means they are easy to remove if at some point in future I want to change them out.
The paint on the groundwork is then touched up and a final few washes applied. Any extra details are added - and then I'm ready for the photos.
In between times while the plaster, paint, etc. is drying out, I still have the opportunity to read a few books - and make a niusance of myself elsewhere on the forum....:D:D:D

And here's a return to an old favourite. Its time for "Carry On Cleo" again.
Old Mark Antony there, well, he's distracted as usual. While the Nubian Slave Guard - he's getting carried away with all the exciting stramash;

Meanwhile Caesar, well despite his diatrabe concerning the proposed increase in taxation, he's really getting the bums rush from Cleo cos she's got her eye on Mark's attributes.

And the Ancient Egyptian version of American Pop Idol never fails to amuse. The Band plays on, and the floorshow continues - way on into the wee small hours.

Was referring to the Duke's starring role in "The Flying Tigers". The cheesy movie sure beats alot of the garbarge appearing on todays screens which I'm sure you'll agree with and I'm sure Mark although with his back to us has got a smile on his face. another great photo dio Harry.....The Lt.

I thought it was the John Wayne movie you were referring to - brilliant..!!
I bought it from Amazon UK and had to pay more in import duty than the actual cost of the DVD itself, but it was worth it. I love those old B&W war movies. We used to get them on a Sunday afternoon in the UK when I was a kid. "The Flying Leathernecks" is another classic. Och, think I'll go and watch "They Were Expendable" yet again after this session.

I rambled on a bit about an Indian dio set in around 1780 to around 1820 and I think this has good possibilities.
My Western Desert 1941 dio is now finished and I'm fairly happy with it. I'm presently uploading a few photos, then just need to resize them.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Kevin,

Thanks. Yes I'm pretty happy with the way the Light Brigade display turned out.
I'm thinking about rehashing the "Desert Rendezvous" diorama I did some months back cos I want to use the K&C Chevy's in a new diorama along with the new Figarti versions when I eventually get my hands on them. All will be revealed next time I get home.....:eek:

In response to your questions;

1) Tracy Chapman, "Talkin' 'Bout A Revolution". You'll find it on her Collection CD. Can't remember the album it was on originally. Think it was possibly her first one.
PS. Reckon I've got UK Reb with the latest signature...:D

2) Yup I did, interior as well as exterior. Of course its not as good as K&C paintwork and it probably doesn't pass muster as a modelling repaint job :eek:, but it works for me and I much prefer it in this diorama to the FoV Matilda I originally had in there. The good thing for me is that I saw no need to repaint the figures for a 1941 scenario even though I'm sure the unit patches are probably all wrong. I particularly like the leather jerkin the Bren Gunner is wearing. I did repaint the figure in the FoB Vickers though as well as the vehicle itself.
Here's a few snaps of the BG Carrier.

Cheers

And then she want's to go to the Kempinski Hotel for a slap-up feed of German grub and a listen to the Fillipino Band....

Only kiddin, sounds like a great night out is in prospect. :D;)
Meanwhile, back at Balaclava......Looks like those Victorian War Photographers are finally getting the depth of field that they've been trying to achieve in their photos for ages. :)

Very funny Reb.....I'll be changing it again when I get around to it.
PS. The Fillipino Band were great. They did a request for Lucy;
Sarah Brightman's "Time To Say Goodbye"
Somehow, I get the feeling she might be trying to give me a big hint about something or other......:confused:

Han Chinese Figures

I often wonder if these excellent figures by Patriot tend to get overlooked. Looking forward to receiving the 3 figures fighting with swords. Might be able to use them with some IC figures.
