My trip to the US! (1 Viewer)

Tom...enjoyed your thread and pictures almost as much as I did meeting and hanging out with you...had a blast the time we spent together and my only regret is the refusal to let your foliage enter Australia...that was a bummer...but I bet if you get on your computer...you can find the same stuff in Australia...you're enjoyed hanging with you...you're a cool guy!

Thanks Mike, i'll do another search for dry foliage in Oz and see if I can find any that's similar or the same as the stuff that you use. We'll have to catch up again for some more margaritas (or perhaps some other brew but not straight whisky..^&grin) in the future and this time they will be on me mate.

Here's some more pic's of the San Antonio city centre.

Last pic of the Alamo then on the last day of my stay in SA I went to the Briscoe Museum which is a short walk from the Menger to check out the massive Alamo diorama that K&C created.

Thanks Matt and maybe he is my long lost brother??? :rolleyes2: ^&grin I had a quick chat with him and noticed his very thick English accent, definitely not a bloke from Texas!

What scale are these mate ??

Dunno mate, I didn't get a chance to talk to the bloke selling them as I was hairing around everywhere, my guess maybe 1:48 scale for the Mitchell and 1:72 scale for the B17's??

What's the story with this piece mate?

Again not sure, just took the snap and kept moving..

And your certainly hanging on to Nicole mate ^&grin^&grin

Wouldn't you mate! ^&grin She is a top girl though and a very hard worker. She was everywhere during the event.

Tom, love seeing all your photos from the Texas Show and from all around San Antonio. Brings back memories for me of the two shows I attended a few years back. I'm hoping I can make it back to San Antonio next May for the 2018 show.

The next day I left Thomasville and motored down the I 10 to Jacksonville in Florida to say gidday to Tim Tiler at Troops of Time. Tim owns a lovely Toy Soldier Shop in Jacksonville and despite the threatening heavy rain (which I drove through heading down the I 95 to Miami later that day), I wanted to pop in and say hello as Howard Woods my good mate in Melbourne Oz told me so much about him. Tim is a top bloke and even though I was only in his store for an hour, we had a good chat and he showed me around his store. He even offered to get me a coffee from down the road but I had to decline as it was pouring with rain outside!

Tom

Tim's one of the good ones, and a good friend of mine. Next time you come to the U.S., I hope you let us up in the northeast show you a little hospitality!:smile2:

Thanks Louis, I intend to return to the states and coming up your way and doing the east coast is definitely on my agenda.

Tom, Thanks for the additional photos. The Alamo diorama is truly amazing.....wow

Wayne

Your welcome Wayne and yeah, the Alamo is well worth seeing.

Outstanding collection of holiday snaps Tom, you must have a huge blister on ya camera finger though!^&grin You certainly managed to cover a ton of ground and caught up with loads of folks on your travels by the looks of things. You must have picked up a few TS goodies along the way no doubt.

It's taken me a while to view and read the whole thread, but it was worth it. Hope you post some more pic's soon when you get a chance.

Cheers!
