I think the Cowboys, playing the way they are, could beat the Vikings, who, with the exception of a beat down of a Giants team that had only 3 defensive starters on the field, looked terrible the last 6 weeks of the season.

I doubt the Jets are going any further, but wouldn't it be ironic if they end up playing Indy (the other team that layed down to let them in the playoffs) and somehow managed to pull the upset? That might at least convince teams to stop laying down and "resting" their starters as the playoffs approach.

And as long as we are discussing irony, wouldn't it be ironic if our good buddy George's Patriots beat the Ravens, then beat the Chargers, and ended up hosting our good buddy Brad's Jets in the AFC Championship game? Whose-ever team one that game would probably not shut up about it until next season . . . :p:D;)

I agree on all of these points.

The Cowboys are on a roll right now, would not want to be playing them and if they had to go through the Vikings and the Saints, I think they can do it.

And as far as the Jets; the ultimate irony would it not if they beat the two teams that layed down and allowed them to back into the playoffs?

They have a GREAT shot at Indy as the Jets have an excellent defense that can get after the quarterback and a very good running game and as long as Sanchez just manages the game and doesn't throw any boneheaded pics, they have a very good chance vs the Colts.

Imagine Jets/Ravens in the AFCCG; well at least one forum member here would be a happy guy after that game..........

So much for my Patiots win and Jets play Colts scenario . . . however, the Baltimore Ravens will be playing the formerly Baltimore Colts, which also qualifies as Ironic, at least for the people of Baltimore.

The Ravens defense was ferocious and their running game was strong even against the Patriots defensive line. But do the Ravens have any kind of passing attack for playing against stronger opponents ahead.?

This is sweet, four for four this weekend on my picks (unless the Cardinals hand the game back to the Packers), so I am looking good at this point.

The Patriots were awful today, just plain awful.

The game was over after the Ravens scored on the Brady turnover to go up 14-0.

Better to lose now then to get demolished next week in San Diego.

Chargers/Cowboys in the Super Bowl................

I am sorry for you they are out George. Moreover, I like having them playing Sunday games during ski season up here since it dramatically reduces the crowds for me.;):D Oh well, I guess now we will both have to wait for next year.

Kurt Warner has to be one of the top ten QBs of all time. Anyone who could take the Rams and Cards to the Super Bowl is a miracle worker. Factor in three go ahead TD drives in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl - his D lost two of them. The guy can rip apart the blitz like no one else. Plus he seems like a class act and not a prima donna like most of these guys.

Arizona and Green Bay just set a record for the most scoring in a playoff game, but the record should only last a week. Considering how bad both the defenses looked down the stretch, next week in New Orleans there should be another a new record for scoring in a play off game.

The winner of the Vikings-Cowboys game (I would think the Cowboys, although if the Vikings defense and the good Favre show up it could be anybody's game) should light up either of these teams.

The AFC is more interesting. The Ravens played the Colts close earlier in the season, only losing 17-15 because they could only score field goals. If Flacco plays moderately well, and they punch it in a couple of times it could go there way, although I expect the Colts to win.

The Chargers looked great down the stretch, but I watched them only score 17 points on a pathetic Giants defense in week 10, so I could see the Jets holding them down. The Chargers defense does not overly impress me, so the game could be close. The Chargers will probably win, however, because I expect Sanchez to get overconfident from winning this game and turn the ball over.

True, the Vikes lost some games down the stretch...but notice that they were all on the road and all on grass. Over the years, the Vikes have struggled mightily on grass. Indoors and on turf, they are a whole different team. Kinda odd, since they should have a good running game wherever they play, but Peterson gets better footing and makes better cuts on turf.

Thankfully, the next potential grass game this year would be in Miami.

And yes, I am a homer....:)

man what a day!!!!! my Ravens put a great game together for the Pats, and played solid on both sides of the ball, Flacco has been bothered all week with a hip injury so having to run today served it's purpose in many ways, and my "D" has really stepped it up over the last month, now time to get ready for the Colts, then.........my adopted Cards team (since I live here) played one of the most exciting games I have ever watched!!!!! lots of lost money today with the odd makers. next weekends games are gonna be wild me thinks...Sammy

That's ok Bill, they were up and down all year, they clearly did not have it today and that defense, which I was concerned about all year, did not show up today and neither did the offense, Brady looked terrible today.

At this point, I honestly would not be shocked to see any of the 4 remaining teams in each conference get to the big dance, although I am still going with Cowboys/Chargers.

And that was a great game today, Packers/Cardinals.

And the Packers got screwed on that fumble; that was a clear case of the tuck rule, Rodgers was bringing the ball down back towards his body when he got hit, should have been a sack and fourth down.

Trust me; if there is anyone who knows the tuck rule, it's a Patriots fan..

Couldn't agree more, if he somehow gets to and wins another Super Bowl, I'd say top 5.

Easy.

He should have 3 Super Bowl wins right now.

Great, great story and a true class act as well like you said.

Good luck next week Aints.

You're going to need it.

Honestly, again disclaimer that I am a Steeler fan living in Baltimore, I don't mean this at all bias. First, hats off to the Ravens, consistency on both sides of the ball, no penalties and bingo, played well. That said, back to my original comment I want to make, no one every accused Suggs of having any class since he arrived. Phenomenal athelete, but absolutely the elevator does not go to the top floor, he is a Moron with a capital M. He recently just lost in court and had a restraining order placed on him locally by the mother of his kids. Of course, financial terms undisclosed. I can't believe they even bothered to interview him, he has been injured and nonexistent teamwise this year.

PS, we used to have one of these types in the Burgh by the name of Joey Porter, we don't miss him one bit.........!

Flacco is a class act, nice to see him succeeding, next week will be quite interesting, which Colts show up? Which Ravens? Who knows, I will be watching!

I also think a hats off to young coach Harbaugh is due. Throughout this year, he was horrid in post game press conference losses, blaming the officials, bad luck, etc. Ever since the Steelers post game conference of a few weeks ago when they had a zillion penalties and he took responsibility, they have upped their game in that respect. It almost seems like a different, well disciplined team. He should get credit for that, I know its only been 2 games, but a world of difference!

George,

The defense tackle caught the fumble on the fly, so it was either a fumble or an interception, the tuck rule didn't come into play. However, on the replay, it looked like the ref's blew it anyway - they missed a face mask on Aaron Rogers, which should have negated the play and been a first down for the Packers.

You are correct, I missed the part where Rodgers did his best soccer impression and kicked the ball up in the air; it was actually ruled an INT, not a fumble.

In addition to the facemask, on the play prior, there was a helmet to helmet hit on Rodgers, another penalty missed.

And speaking of missing, how did he miss that wide open WR that would have ended the game...........

Yes, on the play the Packers were penalized for holding there was a helmet to helmet hit on Rogers, so there should have been offsetting penalties and the down should have been replayed.

As far as missing the wide open receiver down the field, he missed that throw at least 3 times during the game, he was a bit hyped up on his down the field throws. Frankly, if the Cardinals had any defense at all, I think Rogers (who ran wild against the Cardinals lack of defense for 412 yards) would have been hard pressed to throw for 200 yards.

Hoping my Ravens and Cards win tommorows tough away games, if both teams play like they did last weekend it would be a wonderful way to end the week...Sammy

Looks like the stupid Cardinals have forgotten how to play D.

Have to feel sorry for Warner. He has three game tying or go ahead fourth quarter drives in the Super Bowl only to have his D lose two of them. They would have lost all three except the Rams managed to stop TN on the one when time ran out. Incredible bad luck with the D on the teams he has played for.

As an old school NFL fan, you gotta pull for the Ravens to beat the Colts. Hard to get over the Colts leaving town in the middle of the night.
