Sammy, are you eating Raven or Crow????? Just kidding, but as they say, any given Sunday, I wasn't planning on this happening, but you never know.

Just razzin' you Sammy :) Pretty unbelievable isn't it. We finally did get a good coach. Guy is a refreshing change from all those tightlipped uptight other coaches we've had.

Right now they're playing with house money so I'm enjoying while it lasts. Can't see them beating the Colts next week. But I tell ya if the Colts play like they did yesterday, the Jets will beat them. It should be fun and could be the beginning of a great future.

Brad, Brad, Brad; don't you believe in destiny? Don't you see the irony here; the Colts gave up on the perfect season and laid down, handing the Jets a trip to the playoffs.

Now this will come full circle and the Jets, destiny's children, will go on to the Super Bowl to play Favre and the Vikings.

The Jets were the #1 ranked rushing offense in the NFL and the #1 ranked defense, a match up that will give the Colts fits. The Jets can run the ball and keep it away from Peyton and their defense has the ability to shut down the Colts, who are one dimensional team, they can't run the ball period.

Imagine the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl and all the Favre/Ryan stories.

Can't wait......

Congratulations to the Jets for saving the NFL from the expected 1 vs 2 seed match-up in both championship games. Now all the Colts have to do is avoid a ground-hog day repeat of SBIII. Given that, the SB is going to be a shoot-out regardless of who the NFC rep is. Kudos to Farve and the Vikings for crushing the Cowboys. I really thought that game might go to the Cowboys. A perfect example of why I do not bet money on sports. All I can say is go Colts. I will be supporting the AFC in the SB, Colts or Jets. As an old Baltimore Colts fan, this is really a pickle. Support the city that took my Colts or support the team that beat them in SBIII. Crud, if only the Ravens had won. -- lancer

I have to agree with George's picks. I can't see the Saints even keeping it close against the Vikings. The Saints defense is only good when they are playing with the lead, and the Vikings should be able to manhandle them on offense like the Cowboys did in week fifteen. 42-21 Vikings.

The Jets are a physical defense with a physical rushing attack, while the Colts are an undersized speed defense whose best attribute is its pass rush, and a one dimensional offense that puts the game in the hands of Peyton Manning. As George has correctly noted in past threads on this forum, Peyton does not have a stellar record in the playoffs (and has often choked against good defenses such as the Patriots defenses of a few years ago) and, frankly, did not look all that good last week against the Ravens defense. I think it will be a close game, but I also think that the Jets will wear down both the offensive and defensive lines of the Colts, win the battle of the line of scrimmage, control time of possession, and eke out a close win. 20-17 Jets.

I think the pass rush for Minnesota will be key. If they get pressure like they did yesterday, they will be in good shape. If not, Brees will pick apart our secondary and we're in for a long day.

I still can't figure our what's up with Peterson. The man hasn't had a quality long run in weeks.

If the Jets are so good, why did they lose so many games and only make the playoffs on two walkovers? Anything can happen in the NFL but are they really a Championship level team?

The Jets aren't that good (sorry Brad), but they've had a lot of things go their way in the past two games (did you see the INT that rolled OFF of the recievers body, bounced off his foot up in the air and was picked off by Reavis while he was on the ground; when I saw that, I said this is a team of destiny) and in the playoffs, there is a proven history of teams getting hot and getting the breaks on the way to the Super Bowl.

They've also played two fraud teams, the Bungles and the Chargers, both of which played to the Jets strengths.

That said, those type of teams (Patriots in 86, Chargers in 95, Falcons in 99, Jets this year if they make it) usually get to the Super Bowl and just get demolished.

Any given Sunday as the saying goes.............

Sorry I don't really agree with you George, not totally anyway.

They've had the best overall defense and the best rushing team this year in the NFL and those two ingredients usually land you in the playoffs. Had they missed they would have been the first team to do with those stats. What held them back was the QB; he is only a rookie after all. However, he has come along quite a bit and started cutting down on his interceptions.

Maybe the Bengals played to the Jets strength but not the Chargers as the Jets are good at stopping the run, which is not what the Chargers do; they like to pass. In addition, the Jets like to blitz more than any other team and Rivers was supposed to be good at picking that up. To cover all those receivers was a tough assignment but somehow Ryan was able to do it, switching Reavis off and not just focusing on one receiver as he did against the Bengals. One of the reasons they beat the Chargers is because of the Chargers past failures. The goal was to keep the game close and have a little self doubt seep into their minds and it worked. I think that's the reason Schottenheimer, the offensive coordinator, was so conservative at the beginning: no mistakes. When it was only 7-0 you need they had a chance.

This team wins the old fashioned way: running and defense. That usually wins championships. I'm not saying the Jets will but they do have the ingredients.

For many of the reasons already stated, I think the Jets will have a greater chance to beat the Colts than the Vikings have to beat the Saints with their home field advantage in a dome.

Brad,
I go by what my eyes tell me; the Jets were 7-7 going into the last two games of the year, one of which was with the Colts.

The Colts basically had their way with the Jets in that game until they decided to pull their starters, thus handing the Jets a victory.

Had the Colts won the game, the Jets would have been 7-8 and out of the playoffs, so you can tell me all you want about their defense (it is very good) and their running game (also very good); as far as the quarterback, he was horrible for most of the year, 5 INT's vs the Bills for example. It's a TEAM and he was awful.

Your coach is very arrogant, I am sure he's the toast of New York right now getting the 9-7 Jets to the AFCCG. And Revis is arrogant too, saying Randy Moss is slouch; he's a first ballot lock for the HOF and Revis should respect players, not trash them. And so is Scott, that guy never shuts up.

Rivers time and time again had the underneath stuff open Sunday, yet for some boneheaded reason, he kept throwing downfield, they should have taken what the Jets gave them.

The Chargers imploded Sunday; head butts, kicking challenge flags, blocks to the back, a pro bowl kicker who missed three field goals, the onside kick, poor time out management, false starts, etc, etc, on and on it goes.

Your team is on a roll, enjoy it is all I can say; up here in Boston all they talked about today on sports radio is how great the Jets are, they are now the team to beat in the AFCE, the Patriots are done, on and on all day long.

I am glad the Jets are winning, it will force Kraft to get off his wallet and spend money now.

And lastly, Jets fans road Mangini out of town on a rail; they should be thanking the guy as it was him who drafted Mangold, Revis, signed Woody, etc, etc; in a lot of ways, that is his team out there with a shot at the Super Bowl.

And also, FWIW, I do respect the fact that you are a Mets and a Jets fan; you could haven the easy way out and been a Yankees and Giants fan, so your loyalty is commendable....................

George,

Hard to disagree with much of what you say. The Colts gave them that game: a total gift. And this coming off the Falcons game which was just soooo bad. However, Sanchez had started to play better and I think it all started to click with the first Bengals game.

The coach is definitely arrogant but I kind of like that, particularly after some of the corporate coaches we see in the NFL. Revis is as well but he is the best DB out there and now the saying is, ok, who's the next WR going to be on Revis island (Reggie Wayne, I suppose).

Rivers is one thing, Manning is another and I'm not that crazy to think they can beat him. It's possible but I think it's asking a lot. However, I think they want to silence the critics who say they don't belong there and since the Colts let them in they'd like nothing better than to beat the Colts.

If you can get Manning to make the classic "Manning Face" ( you know, the pouting, hands up in the air, pointing and yelling at the reciever who ran the wrong route), you've got a shot.

I'd say chances are 50%-50% you'll be a happy man come Sunday night, good luck.

There is no greater joy in sports than to have your team in the Super Bowl.

None.

Time to break down the Vikes and Saints. Both teams played lights out last week. Usually that means a let down the following week for one team. Both are dome teams so no advantage there. Saints at home, but they are cursed like the Chargers. So that's a wash. Favre has tons of experience in big games, the MN D looks great. I can't see the Saints scoring 30 on the Vikes that they need to win. Bottom line I'm guessing Vikes 27 Saints 20.

Jets and Colts? No magical mystery tour here Brad. The Jets have played all their cards. Absent the ghost of Joe "Willie White Shoes" Namath making a drunken appearance this will be a blowout. Colts 38 Jets 17.

Hard to believe but the old school Colts and Vikes meet for the first time in the Super Bowl.

To be honest, I haven't been in love with the Vikings offense all season. We've made some big plays, but we're supposed to be a team that can run the ball down people's throats...and it ain't happening.

I can see it being a blowout...either way. Should be interesting!

Sorry dudes, no Vikes in the big game. Just don't see it. They can't run the ball. Saints are too versatile. Colts may win but it will be close. I'll stay with the best D vs the Aints in the big one.

I will have to disagree as I think the Vikings are going all the way. I still believe that they can run the ball if they need too. I must admit I have enjoyed all of the USC Trojan alumni playing quite well especially Reggie Bush. I am biased though as I am a die-hard Vikings fan. When I was a kid I wrote Bud Grant a letter. It must have one hell of a letter though as he responded and sent me a jersey, signed photos, media guide and more. With that kind of response, you are a fan for life! Looking forward to a great game. As for the AFC, I think the Colts are the better team and would love to see them battle the Vikes. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Jets' resolve-they have impressed me!

Not the kind of "relish" Rex is looking for Brad, but he'll take it I guess.

His double chin has a double chin, what a planet he is; only two XL, yeah, sure, just like the Seinfeld episode where Gerry changes the 4 in his 34 jeans to a 1 with a magic marker....................
