I started off Super Bowl Sunday right! :smile2: I went to the local deli, with my two kids, and met Giants multiple time pro-bowl punter, and two time Super Bowl Champion, Sean Landeta.^&cool He was really a terrific guy, a real gentleman. He autographed two photos to my son and daughter, and let me wear his two Super Bowl Rings (XXI and XXV)!!! I took photos and video of me and my kids with Sean (including a shot of my hand with the two rings and Sean). It was unbelievable to meet a Giants from my favorite Giants teams when I was a teenager into my 20's. We talked about the 1990 team, when Sean (punter), Reyna Thomson (gunner) and Dave Meggett (returner) all made the pro-bowl, and the Giants set the record for the fewest turn overs in a season on their way to edging the Bills in Super Bowl XXV, one of most exciting Super Bowls ever.

My day started out with Mike Lupika babbling on ESPN about how the Giants Super Bowl victory over the Patriots in 2008 was a greater win than the Red Sox coming back from down 0-3 and beating the Yankees in the 2004 ALCS and then moving on to win their first WS title in 86 years.

Wow.

I mean you just can't make this stuff up.

Ok Mike, keep thinking that if it helps you sleep better at night, it's like comparing apples to hand grenades, but you're a reporter from NY, so what else would I expect from you.

Nice to go out today and get the morning paper and coffee and see people EVERYWHERE with Patriots gear on and store signs saying "Go Pats" on them, it finally hit me that they are in the big dance and it's game on in about 7 hours.

It's time to play in the league where they play for pay!!

Two killer drives by Brady and the Giants now need to find their game. Giants 'D' has been a non-factor to this point. The Giants had the right formula early on by keeping the ball out of Brady's hands but failed to put up points. Now the Giants have to play some 'D' or the Pats might walk away from them. -- Al

Into the 4th with Pats up by 2. Hope for a good ending. Been sort of a snooze, so far. -- Al

I agree. It's been kind of boring. Pats are eating valuable clock.

Congratulations to the Giants. Didn't honestly think they could beat the Pats but the Pats didn't show the fire I expected and their receivers picked the wrong time to start dropping passes. The NFC East still rules! -- Al

I wonder if NFL parity will have us watching this kind of Super Bowl more and more often. A close but ugly game. Not to take anything away from the Giants but his wasn't exactly a clash of the NFL's greatest teams. They all go up on the big board though.

time of possession:
NYG: 37.05
NEP: 22.55

Eli qb rating...103.8
30-40...75%
0 int's

NYG's "vaunted defense" held them to 17 points...

NE's regular season average was 32 per game...

Coughlin out coached Belichick...held the ball twice as long...

9-7 more than belonged there...they were the better team...

Terrific Tom's safety really cost them...those extra 2 points made them go for a Hail Mary touchdown instead of a field goal for overtime or the win...seems like he would know the rules...

Mike,
No offense for what I am about to write and I can write this as I have no vested interest in either team, but honestly your above stats don't mean jack in this game. There was no outcoaching of anyone, it is just the way it went in a very close game.

Your stats would mean absolutely nothing if Welker hangs onto that pass and the Pats drive continues or if the tip in the Endzone goes to the Pats. Also, the Safety is the way it goes, it mattered in the end, but again, if the Pats keep that drive going and score, then they win.

This was just flat out a good game and I found it fairly interesting to watch. These teams play 10 games, one of them (in this case the Giants) will have a 6 to 4 edge. I don't know if they were the best teams in the league this year, but they certainly are 2 very good ones and pretty dang on even. For all the press saying the Pats were weak on D, they played pretty good and the same goes to the Giants who didn't give up and continued to fight. Eli is clutch at the end of the game, but he gets a lot of help from his team and that is why they won.

Congrats Louis, condolences George, at least it was exciting for the non Pats, Giants fans,

Good Game,

TD

Tom...

you're right...stats don't mean jack in any game...all that matters is the final score...stats are a measuring stick used by statisticians to record the game numerically...stats don't necessarily dictate the outcome of any game...while the stats don't mean jack to you...they are stats...and they don't lie...

and not to offend you either...

but if stats don't mean jack..."if's" mean even less..."if" Welker did this...or "if" they caught the tip in the endzone..."if's" are moot..."if's" are less than meaningless...even to statisticians...nobody records "if's"...excepts the losers...

and yes...they were the 2 best teams in the NFL this year...their appearing in the Superbowl mandates that...it is recorded in history now...New England was the best in the AFL and NY was the best in the entire league...they now have the ring that say so...the are the Champions...

what happened to George...why all the condolences...did he bet the farm on the game...

Condolences to George because he's a fan of the team who lives and dies with his team just like Louis does with his and the most do with ours. It's not all about money.

Yes, the Giants were better tonight but that doesn't make Pat fans feel any less worse. At least, they dont have to hear all the chirping that will go on in this area for the next week or so.

it's just a game...nobody will miss a meal...lose a nights sleep or die from it...I hope...it's just a game...

I lived and died with my Cowboys...but life goes on...

regardless...my condolences to you too George...they just caught NY at the wrong time...NE is still a great team and Brady is probably the most dominant qb in the league...

Congrats to the Giants, they played 4 tough games in a row to win the Super bowl, you gotta give them credit for fighting just to get into the playoffs, and they also won me 25 snappers!!! so I appreciate that as well:) now come on 2012 football season I wish we could start tommorow!! but before you know it the summer will come and go and football will return in all it's glory, can't wait!!! see ya football in about 6 months at camp!!!!...Sammy
