Well, last nights Patriots/Jets game is reason #1 why I do not gamble on professional sports as if there was ever a sure thing IMO, it was a Jets win last night, yet it did not happen.

Caught the tail end of the third quarter and the fourth quarter as well, kept asking who are these guys on defense for the Patriots as two of their starting linebackers and all four of their starters in the secondary were all out, still cannot fathom how they beat the Jets.

I guess it comes down to one thing; COACHING.

You can run your mouth and predict super bowl wins and all of that, but you still have to play the games and win when it matters. The Jets had they won last night were in the drivers seat for their first AFCE title since 2002 and either a #1 or #2 seed.

Still a long way to go and a lot of football to be played, but by sweeping the Jets this year, the Patriots now have a two game lead in effect as a tie does the Jets no good.

Absolutely unbelievable!!! how a team can look so good one week and sh..the next is beyond me!! 3 turnovers/2 missed field goals/ and a defense that couldn't stop them in the 4th, oh well, looks like this season may come down to the final seconds of who is gonna win the AFC North, if we take care of business next week at home against Cinncy were back in the drivers seat,but Come on man...Seattle??^&confuse...Sammy

Kind of a shocker. Other than losing in final 8 secs to the Ravens, as a Steeler fan I can't complain. I actually think we will only get healthier and tighter as a team down the stretch. Could get real intersting should the Ravens slide agains Cincy or Cleveland. This one could be close, should be fun, I hope we get to play you again in the playoffs!

That depends entirely if the Saints are playing the Giants on the road or not. If the Giants play the Saints in their home dome, the Saints should win easily. If they have to come to play in Meadowlands in bad late November weather, where wind and the elements are a factor, they will be in for a real dog fight.

Its at home then the Lions @ home as well should go 9 and 3.................

Give Tebow credit for that last 95 yard drive. The Jet defense ran out of gas and the Bronco offense caught fire.

The Broncos don't win, the teams playing them lose. The Jets dominate them all night, knowing they can't pass, so what do they do when they have them pinned at the 5 yard line with 4 minutes to play? They go into a prevent defense. And the Broncos run the ball right down their throat. Then, on 3rd and 4 from the 23, the Jets blitz - after not getting to Tebow even once all night when they blitzed - and he runs right around the blitzing safety and trots into the end zone.

Seriously, the problem with the Jets isn't Sanchez, its Rex Ryan, and his coaching staff. They shot themselves in the foot all night. Up 7, late in the third quarter, and they put 4 in the pattern, spread the field and throw the ball in the flat on 3rd and 6 for a tailor made pick 6 - when the Broncos end has dominated Fergeson all night? The Broncos saw that formation, knew it had to be a quick slant or out pattern, and jumped the pattern for the interception. And the worst was when the Jets had a drive going late in the 1st half, had moved the ball the Broncos 45 for a 3rd and 5, and the Jets have so little confidence in Sanchez that they try a direct snap gadget play to a backup running back (both their starters were hurt) and he, who obviously never practiced the play, watches the ball go over his head for a 22 yard loss.

The Broncos had what, 200 yards of total offense? They had one scoring drive all night (7 points off the interception, and 3 points off a shanked 12 yard punt in the 1st quarter). The Jets special teams also missed 2 field goals, and allowed a 70 yard kick off return.

All I can say is a am so glad I am a life long Giants fan!

I also think it's part of the learing curve. Let's not forget he's a third year QB and only had one full year in college as a starter. You can also learn by not succeeding; sometimes failure is a greater teacher than success.

Louis hits the nail on the head, Ryan is all hat, no cattle, all he does is run his mouth and is a media darling, so the NY media fall all over the guy, his clock management is brutal, his in game decisions are awful.



Sanchez is partly to blame too; understood there is a learning curve, but by his third year as a starter, Brady had two super bowl titles and two super bowl MVP's under his belt, Sanchez does an awful job of checking down and his decision making is spotty at best.

The Jets still have a good shot of getting to the playoffs, they have a marshmellow schedule ahead and should go at least 5-1, maybe 6-0; that Giants game is going to be something, I predict both teams will be 9-5 going in, the winner will go on to the playoffs, the loser may very well go home.

Have to love the NFL, the best sport on the planet; hey, when does the NBA start up anway, shouldn't they be playing games by now............oh yeah, they're on strike; does anyone even care?

A primary culprit this year is the GM. The guys he chose to sign aren't nearly as good as the ones he didn't. He gets part of the blame.

Next up is the defense. When it matters they can't stop anybody. This cost them Thursday, against NE twice and the Raiders.

Lately, one of their great strengths, special teams has been spotty.

Running backs are weak and no depth.

The offensive line is a disater. That is why Sanchez can't get the ball downfield; no time to throw. On one series Von Miller literally shoved the right tackle aside.

Sanchez is a work in progress. To compare him to Brady is nonsensical. He will never be in that class but does have talent. It's just going to take time. He has shown flashes. You don't win playoff games on the road if you don't have some ability.

Making playoffs is a long shot. This team hasn't done anything this year to make you think otherwise. They should be 7-3 or 8-2 but are not. 9-7 is more likely. If that happens the offensive coordinator will be gone, thank goodness

Sorry but Sanchez is not Brady, draft position or not. Picking talent is an art, not yet a science.

Not ready to write him off yet. I know Rex has probably had it with him but they're we'd to each other for awhile.

At least the Bears won so it wasn't a total loss.

Obviously you can't compare Sanchez with Brady, the former is a journeyman quarterback who has never been expected to win games, as opposed to not lose games, while the later is one of the 5 greatest quarterbacks of all time.

That being said, I really don't think Sanchez is going backwards, its the rest of the Jets offense that has taken an enormous step back. This team was the number one rushing offense his rookie season, and the number 4 rushing offense last year. This year, they are what, 24th? And the reason for the fall off is twofold: (1) they let Thomas Jones, a 1400+ yard rusher, go and tried to replace him with LT, whose tank is pretty close to empty, and Aaron Greene, who is a never has been; and (2) other than Nick Mangold, their offensive line flat out stinks. It can neither run block nor pass block effectively.

I think if you took this season's Sanchez, and put him on the Jets team from his rookie year, it would be evident that he has improved during his two years in the league. You don't win 4 playoff games on the road, and come within a whisker of coming back from 20 down against the Steelers defense in the AFC championship game without having skill and talent. I wouldn't count this kid out yet. Frankly, the Jets need to go back to ground and pound with both personnel decisions in the off season (get some talented huge veteran OL and a quality running back, ditch Debrickashaw Ferguson, LT and Greene) and coaching changes (a new offensive coordinator who better understands offensive line play and that a young quarterback must pass on running downs, not obvious passing downs, to be effective, and a new OL coach).

Look at what changing offensive strategy and approach to quaterback protection has done for Jay Cutler in Chicago. In the first 4 games of the season, Mike Martz was sending 5 men out in the pattern and leaving Cutler with only the O line to protect him: he was getting sacked 8 times per game, and looked terrible. Then the Chicago Coach told Martz to shove his offensive philosophy where it belongs, run the ball down the opponents throat with Forte, and keep a running back and tight end in to protect Cutler on passing downs, and only put 3 men in the pattern. Now Cutler, who has time to throw, looks like an elite quarterback. I'm not saying Sanchez has Cutler's arm or skill set, but I think if he had a solid running game and some time to throw, he would be all right.

Both you and Brad missed my point; Brad referred to Sanchez as a work in progress as it's only his third season, my point was by Brady's third year as a starter, he had two SB wins and two SB MVP's under his belt, he was a lightly regarded 6th round pick coming out of college, Sanchez was a high first round pick.

To me, regardless of his O line and lack of running game, he makes poor decisions, does not read defenses well, does a horrible job of checking down and has poor clock management skills.

He and Rex may be married to each other for awhile, but if they miss the playoffs this year, both of them are on thin ice next year.................
