In a normal year with a consistent team, I would like the Steelers chances for revenge. However, playing KC at KC on a Sunday night after getting the proverbial clock cleaning there earlier this year, not so much. Steelers this year are just not consistent to make a difference unfortunately. That said, will watch and route for them from sunny Florida!

Some sobering numbers for Rams fans:

-McVay was 45-0 when leading at halftime.
-SF was 0-40 over the last ten years when trailing by 17 or more points.
-SF's win probability was .4% when they punted with less than two minutes to go.
-Surprisingly, only one other NFL team overcame a deficit of 17 or more points all season.
-Six losses in a row to the Niners (many ugly beatdowns).
-More SF fans in the stands than LA fans.

But the Rams win the division thanks to the hapless Seachickens beating AZ. So onward!

Doug, caught most of this game and honestly was shocked. Hopefully it is just the Rams blues at the end of the season tiredness, etc, a huge amount of talent there and they should be fine. Stafford needs to get comfortable quick, his experience should shine through. The only other thought I have is that he played on such a doormat forever, he had nothing to lose and was always lose and cool, needs to get back to that place fast.

Tom-
I'm afraid the trouble with the Rams is that they just don't have that heart of a champion. A lot of talented players - some whom like Donald and Kupp that do want to win it all - but just not enough to get it done against the elite teams. They will probably have to win on the road in Green Bay and Tampa to even get to the Super Bowl. Not going to happen. Stafford is reminding me a lot of Goff. No fire when the going gets tough. The more I watch the Rams, though, the more I realize it might be an institutional problem on offense. No adjustments when teams are stuffing the run and pressuring the QB. It is just drop back with an immobile QB and wait for him to get hit or rush the throw. Repeat over and over. You never see Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady in that situation. The ball is out of their hands like lightning before the pass rush gets close.

The Niners aren’t as good as they appeared Sunday and the Rams aren’t as bad.

Yes, SF has played great against LA these last few years but they will be long gone before Los Angeles plays at Green Bay in the NFC Championship game.

Old number 13 of the NY Jets, Don Maynard, passed away Monday at age 86. He was a tremendous receiver and a favorite target of Broadway Joe. RIP. -- Al

The Rams had to sign Eric Weddle who retired two seasons ago after it was clear that he could no longer cut it in the NFL. He was a gamer back in the day, but that day has long passed. I couldn't believe that was for real. They don't have anyone better on the practice squad? The Rams are thin in the secondary with the injury to Fuller, but Weddle is not the answer.

Tom is about to fall out his chair but I'm pulling for Ben/Steelers...not that there is a new found love but do not want the Chefs to become the new Patriots!! Also like the way big Ben is taking this game..saying, let's play, nothing to lose, KC is favored big, let's play and see.

I am really glad that so many teams that are followed by members of this forum, and more specifically this thread, are in the playoffs.

Unfortunately I think that when all is said and done it will be Green Bay vs. Kansas City in the Super Bowl.

Also known as the worst possible outcome for me personally in these playoffs.

I feel bad for Dereck Carr. He is a gamer but like some Calvinist form of predestination can never win the big one.

Buffalo made a statement...
nobody could of beat them tonight...
and they're only the #3 seed...
I think they are better than Tennessee and probably KC...
if they can keep their same players signed...they will be around for a while...

Mike:

I think Buffalo is the third best team in the AFC.

Outside of Allen they do not have much of a running game. I think a good defensive coordinator is going to scheme against his designed runs in the next playoff game.

I still believe Kansas City will represent the AFC in this year’s Super Bowl despite how Buffalo played last night.

The Pats ran into a buzzsaw. Allen was on fire. Buffalo has been climbing that mountain for a long time. Last night they made like Captain Insano and showed no mercy. The rain in Tampa today might give the Eagles some hope. Their only chance is to ugly the game down. Otherwise they get blown out.

Good game between the Niners and Cowboys. SF will need to start scoring some TDs instead of FGs. I'm pulling for them today so the Rams can avoid going to Green Bay next week if they beat the Cards. What is the deal with having a domed stadium but positioning it such that the sun shines through the only windows thereby blinding the players on the field? And they still have general admission at these games causing a stampede before the game? Talk about a disaster waiting to happen.

sloppy sloppy play...
Dak looks like a bum...
missing passes bad...
9 penalties for 64 yards...
5 pre-snap penalties...
3 and out over and over...
Cowboys are going fishing next week...

Some of the most boneheaded coaching and penalties in that Cowboys-Niners game that I have ever seen. Both teams made mistake after mistake. What was Dak thinking trying to run the ball with no TOs? Then trying to set the ball and getting in the way of the ref before it could be snapped. A comedy of errors. Both teams deserved to lose.

yea...unbelievable....that play has me scratching my head...wonder if it was a called play???
even Romo said it was questionable...
I have said it all year long...Dallas can't beat an above average team...
they can beat up on the scabs...but are not even competitive against a decent team...
I wanted to at least win one playoff game...
but game over...good luck to everyone else that has a dog in the fight...
I will root for you...

If had a say for the Steelers, I would bench Diontae Johnson, 3 key drops that are and will be costly in this game.

Last night in his post-game press conference, Dak Prescott was asked about fans throwing trash onto the field as players and officials headed for the locker room.

He initially expressed disappointment that fans would throw trash at their own team’s players.

When he was told they were throwing debris at the officials, however, he said, "Credit to them then."

That response is pathetic.

Comments on this weekend:

A> Bengals - need to do more on offense, they have the weapons, but will need more.

B. Bills - peaking, however, if teams watch the early season Steelers Game - that is the blueprint to stop them.

C. Bucs - playing well enough and the experience factor, tough to deal with

D. 49ers - had the game long won and then Jimmy G made some terrible mistakes - they are one mistake away from losing to anyone, literally. Dallas just didn't show up initially and you cannot hope an official is going to save you. End of day, terrible play call, and the rules are the rules.

E. Chiefs - too many weapons at home for the Steelers. If the Steelers could have kept offensive drives going early, maybe different game. That said, once the Chiefs get into a rhythm, they can and will beat any team left in the playoffs.

Again, just my observations. End of the day, I was happy to see Big Ben throw some nice throws in the second half, that is an ok memory to take away as they had nothing to lose in playing the game, they were not expected to win. On another note, thought it was a great stat that Big Ben and Tomlin never had a losing season together, that is pretty cool.
