N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (6 Viewers)

They opted for Sanchez from a group that included E.J. Manuel, Kellen Clemens, Josh Johnson and T.J. Yates.

Yikes.

If there was scientific/genetic way to combine the DNA of all five of those QB's and make one QB, you'd still end up with hot garbage.

only one I have even heard of is T J Yates...

but...................
it's against the Cowboys...
so they stand a 50/50 chance with him as QB...^&grin

and as it's a T-Giving day game...
they are gonna cram it down the public's throats...
like it or not...

I'll enjoy the game...
but hardly a prime time match up...
can't imagine it's a must watch in any body else's home on here but mine...

Well the Lamar era begins in Baltimore, you'd think I'd be happy beating the Bungles and helping our playoff chances but to be honest I've seen this movie a few times already, I'm not a fan of running QB's, it just takes a few good defensive coordinators to figure out a way to stop Jackson, but at this rate it's a good possibility that Flacco and Harbaugh will be gone by 2019 unless there is a major win total over these last 6 games, so I better learn to embrace the change and get on board the new Vick 2.0 because it's coming and so are many changes.

Sammy, not sure if you saw last weeks news , but it has pretty much been announced that Harbaugh and organization are parting ways mutually at the end of the season. If you read between the lines, Owner Steve is not renewing his contract and this is a soft landing. Additionally, speculation continues that Flacco has played his last game in Baltimore and that the marching orders to the outgoing coaches are to get Lamar Jackson playing time, experience and preparation for the future.

TD

I could say I told you so, but I live here, so it was always insider info. The rumors have been strong here since their first loss!:)

Mike, it is always on my TV on Turkey Day. The one rule is to make sure that the tv is out of throwing range of the dining room table. The big screen tv's make too easy a target for the errant turkey leg.:rolleyes2: -- Al

I guess you have to give the Redskins credit for not considering He Who's Name Cannot Be Spoken, thank goodness. -- Al

You mean Kaepernick? It would have been an improvement over the “hot garbage,” as George might say, but, no, they’d rather add evidence to his lawsuit.

This MNF game is an embarrassment to the sport, 84 points and there is still 11 minutes to go.

The over was 63; at this rate, 100 should have been the over.

Neither of these teams has anything that resembles a defense.

Oh gee wait, a 6 play 75 yard drive in about 90 seconds and it's 47-44, 91 points and counting.

And anyone who thinks this is exciting has a screw loose.

This is pathetic, but hey, I'm the nitwit who's watching it...……………….

George, you must have missed the memo. Defense is now officially illegal under pain of death. It sure ain't the game I remember. Third highest scoring game in NFL history. Sheesh. Yet, I am watching too.:( -- Al

Chefs/Saints is my pick, final score 70-69.

The Chefs will roll the Steelers or the Patriots in the AFCCG, Saints/Rams in the NFCCG is going to be a shoot out.

We'll see.
Remarkable. You aren't gonna miss by much. Maybe you should play the Lotto this week. -- Al

Going to be easy to decouple from the mother ship and confine my football to Saturdays when we’re done in New England.

The lawyers were pushing things this way, and when fantasy unfurled its full financial potential, we were done.

It’s not a bad thing, it’s just not my thing.

Grew up watching the bruising running of Jimmy Brown, the Green Bay sweep, Gale Sayers running wild with brutal defenders like the Fearsome Foursome, Nitschke, Butkus, and Larry Wilson. No trace of it remains. Like you say, today's version of football isn't bad, just not my cup of tea. It is all but unrecognizable to the game of the 50's, 60's, and 70's, and that it is too bad, IMHO. -- Al

if you look at the box score...
I think there was way more defense in this game than meets the eye...

way more than in most games anyway...
both these teams have prolific passers and receiving corps can score so quickly you just miss it in the shuffle...

3 INT's...
8 sacks...
12 tackles for loses...
5 stripped balls...
4 fumble recoveries...
KC held Gurley (the league's rushing leader) to only 55 yards...
LA held Hunt (the league's 3rd leading rusher) to only 70 yards...

that's a lot of defense...

these teams score so much with long passes that you overlook the defense...

Tyreek Hill is amazing...
up there with Moss or Rice...
that guy can run some spectacular routes...

Mike, that may all be true but in a 54-51 game you can't really say there was much defense.

That was one heck of a game. The first Monday Night Football game I've watched from beginning to end in 30 years. Multiple lead changes, defensive TDs, the old Coliseum was rocking. One takeaway from this game is that the modern offense has progressed to the point that there is no way to stop them. Put four or five top notch athletes out in space with a guy like Goff slinging the ball and the D is helpless. The only thing the D can do in that situation is drop back in zone coverage and try to keep the receivers in front of them. Even then both QBs were torching them. The rules need to be changed or effectively the NFL will become a video game league. Maybe limit the O to fewer eligible receivers. Fun game though. Home field is going to be huge in these playoffs. My one beef with the Rams is that they sometimes get too cute. They have a great back like Gurley and he hardly gets any touches. Late in the game they passed three times with the lead and only a minute and change on the clock. That almost cost them the game. They would help their D out if they ran the ball a bit more and added some TOP. And the endless penalties. Some of those calls were ridiculous. If I were coaching, I would never return a kickoff or punt. A penalty on 50% of those plays.

Brad...

you can skew it anyway you want...
but the stats don't lie...
those are facts...

you have 2 QB's with strong accurate arms...
coupled with a host of receivers that can get separation......

the running game was held in check by both teams...

their passing games...
that's what they do...
they go deep with consistency a lot...

they are having a debate segment on ESPN right now over the idea of...
were the fans treated to an excellent offensive performance or did they witness no defense in last night's game...

the hosts have good arguments on either side...

The Monday Night Football announcing crew is absolutely horrible. Witten and McFarland have the excuse that they're ex players and this is their first year announcing. But Joe Tessitore is supposed to be a professional broadcaster. He was trying way too hard to hype the game. His constant screaming was annoying as hell. He belongs on pro wrestling not football. Everyone praises Vin Scully and Pat Summerall as the gold standard of broadcasting but announcers now do everything the exact opposite of those guys.
