The Celtics just got demolished, blown off the court, they basically quit.

They are down 3-0 to a #8 seed that lost the first play in game to Atlanta and was down 10 to Chicago before they won that game to get into the playoffs.

And now they are one game away from the NBA finals.

Celtic Pride died in South Beach tonight.

That was a beatdown. Sometimes it happens but I agree that the Celts quit. That was their "One, two, three...Cancun" game. Incredibly, they were a five point favorite. There is a scene in "The World According to Garp" where a guy and his wife are looking for a house to buy and an airplane crashes into the one they are visiting. Garp says he will take that house while it is still burning. And when his wife questions why after an airplane has just crashed into it that he would want to buy that house, Garp says: "Honey, the chances of another plane hitting this house are astronomical. It's been pre-disastered. We're going to be safe here." Maybe after 0-149 the odds are in favor of someone coming back and winning a series down 0-3. Or maybe not.

I’d be surprised if the Heat don’t win in four. On the other hand, I give the Lakers a good chance to win game four.

Speaks well of the NHL and the NBA that two #8 seeds are going to their respective finals; one team got in due to another losing not one, but two games to close out the season, the other after a 10 point comeback in an elimination game.

The Celtics have superior talent, but got badly outcoached and outplayed, the Heat wanted it more/hit all of their shots.

The one thing that does and continues to annoy me is how cocky players like Tkachuk and Butler keep winning; if a Bruins player pulled the crap Tkachuk does or if a Celtics player ran his mouth as much as Butler does, both teams would go down in flames, but nope, the Panthers and Heat keep winning.

It's ****ing annoying.

Read a very good article today on the state of US sports; bottom line is to no ones surprise, it's all about money...........hockey, basketball, baseball and now football seasons are way too long, teams get burned out, injuries occur, too many teams now make the playoffs in all sports, it's a recipe for disaster and a stone cold lock that teams that have no business being in the playoffs sneak in, get hot and steal a title.

What is the point of the NBA having multiple play in games; to prevent teams from tanking, to give everyone a chance to make the playoffs?

Really? It's come to that?

Sports for me is entertainment, I can easily watch a sport when my team/teams is/are not involved, but it's about star power, I want to see the best athletes in the biggest spotlight, not some collection of tomato cans with a horseshoe up their collective ***** get into the finals.

I won't watch .01 second of a Heat/Nuggets or Golden Knights/Panthers final, no interest in either match up, could care less who wins.

That's not the point of sports, we'll see what the ratings are.

There are too many teams and too many games in every sport. The money is the driving factor. One-third of teams in every sport should be dropped. The talent pool is depleted. Injuries are a huge factor. With that said, I don't see the old Lakers and Celts teams getting pushed around by the likes of Miami or Denver. Magic Johnson and Larry Bird would have dispatched those teams easily. If you want to be a champion, you should play like it. I can't blame the underdog for playing hard and winning. And how the Lakers became the favorite is mystifying. They barely made the playoffs. Lucky to get this far. They could have made this series more competitive but I could never see them running the table.

Me either.

The leading scorer for Miami is some scrub I wouldn't know if I fell over,

To see that group of tomato cans preening around all cocky and arrogant is infuriating, the Celtics should be ashamed and embarrassed.

If I was on that team the second the series ends tomorrow night, I'd walk off the court and head for the locker room; watch all the bro hugs and ballwashing all the players do after the series is over, no sack at all.

One of the crap TV pundits on ESPN was going on and on about how television ratings were going to be awful when Denver played Miami in the finals.

His outrage was immediately followed by a FanDuel commercial.

The ratings for the NBA finals will be huge for the same reason that the XFL, USFL etc. have comeback, gamblers.

Well, that is that for my Lakers. The last three games followed the same pattern with LA fading in the 4th quarter. They looked tired. Denver and Miami are certainly the better teams and are playing great basketball, but not sure I will watch much of the finals. No interest.

The Celtics won last night, forcing a game 5.

Run these *******s out of the building tomorrow night, force a game 6, sack up and put pressure on a team that has NINE undrafted players on it.

Not a Lakers fan but I’ll give them a tip of the cap for shutting up one of the biggest hypocrites in sports, Steve Kerr.

Yes, I can't stand the guy. A complete sell out. Like Greg Popovich. The tiresome political pontificating on the ills of America while ignoring China etc. I do recall Kerr from his days at Arizona. He had an interesting background. Among other things, his father was killed by terrorists in Lebanon.

Well, I will strongly disagree with that. A great coach although this year may not have been his best. Let’s see if they retool or try to eke one more year out of this squad. The Green Poole fight cast a pall on the season and one of them needs to go.

Brad:

As always I respect your opinion, especially when it comes to the Poole Green issue.

However in my view he is the epitome of a hypocrite.

He went on and on about the Lakers flopping yet the Warriors (a team I root for) flop just as much, if not more than any team in the NBA. The old “it is ok when my guys do it but not ok when yours do the same” doesn’t work with me.

On the none sports side he loves to talk about the need to “step up” and ban assault rifles but but he has not addressed the Ja Morant or Brandon Miller issues despite the fact that handguns are responsible for the majority of firearm fatalities.

Sorry Jason but I don’t agree.

Players in any sport will complain about what the other team does when it suits them but then do the same things themselves; I saw this recently with the Mets. Players act out to get advantage.

On guns, I agree with his stance but the Morant thing is up to the league and it’s different; AR 15s have been involved in many mass shootings whereas Morant just acted stupidly. It’s not up to him to speak out on it; it’s a Memphis and a league matter.

Regardless of where you are on the issues, I really appreciate when sports personalities keep it about sports. I enjoy sports, I like to watch sports, there is enough crappola in the news 24/7 if that is what you want to watch. If Steve Kerr or Greg P want to give their opinions, CNN or Fox or MSNBC or CNBC would be happy to pay them to come on and do it. My opinion is have any opinion you want, it is a free country, but disperse it in the appropriate place. Interviews after a game are not a place to debate guns or politics or whatever.

My 2 cents.

I generally agree. The NBA and WNBA seems more political than other sports.

So after being in control for most of the game and twice having 11 point leads, the Celtics nearly blew a 7 point lead with about 3:45 to play, down 1 with 3 seconds left...................on the inbounds pass, Smart caught the ball, turned and launched a 3 point shot.........that rimmed out.............game.

BUT NOPE; Derrick White blew past contain, was not boxed out and with .01 seconds left, tipped in the game winner, 104-103, forcing a winner take all game 7 Monday night in Boston.

Miami was putrid shooting 2's, but was lights out from 3 point range, the Celtics were horrendous, shooting 7-35 from 3.

I don't have a clue who's going to win on Monday, but to force a game 7 like that................we'll see what shakes out.

Major credit in that they came back from down 0-3 and a blow out loss that had most people yammering "one, two, three.....Cancun"..........but not so fast.

We'll see what happens on Monday night.

George:

No matter who you cheer for this series has been must-see TV.

Pulling for the Celtics just like you have supported my teams.

Best,
Jason

That was a very weird game in a very weird series. Amazingly, it was only the second time in NBA history that a team won on a buzzer beating shot in an elimination game. Be careful that you wish for, though. Losing that game would have been a disappointment. Losing a game seven at home after coming back 0-3 would be soul crushing.

Wait for it.....................31 seconds in..................also known as Boston Celtics porn.

That game goes up on the "Havlicek stole the ball!/here comes in the inbound pass, stolen by Bird, he passes it to DJ who lays it up and in!/Henderson with the steal!!.....he lays it in!! Mount Rushmore of Celtics playoff moments.
