Lord amighty, is WVa ever outclassed by Canetuck. UK outscored WVa 18-2 in the first 8 minutes of the game and have outscored WVa 10-1 in the first 8 minutes of the second half. Currently lead 54-19 with 11:58 to go. WVa is 5-37 from the field (1-10 from 3 pt. range). Can anyone stop the Wildcats? Doesn't look like it so far. -- Al
Uk doubled them up and won 78-39. What a whuppin'. It was another one of those whistle-stop games as the refs called 50 fouls with 51 free throws awarded. Next up for the 'Cats is ND. -- Al

my home team pulls out a close one against Xavier, let's go U of A Wildcats!! time for some revenge against the Badgers...Sammy

Looks like Kentucky found that other gear.

That said, why do I have this feeling that Duke will weasel their way into the final and beat Kentucky; sure, why not, they beat UNLV who was 34-0 at the time back in 1991 and the Fab Five Michigan team in 1992.

Duke is like the Yankees, you either love them or hate them with the fire of 10,000 suns.

I'm in the latter for that.

I'll say one thing though, their ex players don't age very well, Laettner in those ads with Doctor J and Sir Charles and Hurley coaching Buffalo both look about 60.......................{eek3}

As a graduate of UNC and Wisconsin, I am glad they played a hard fought game last night. I hated seeing the Tar Heels eliminated this early, but I am glad the Badgers have a good shot at returning to the Final Four. It was a typical Carolina game for this season, although one of their best. They built a lot of leads this year but didn't finish well. In the end Wisconsin's defense and offensive versatility got them the win. Speaking of Duke, I think both they and Wisconsin could give Kentucky a good challenge, but this Duke team has a lot of inconsistency, and overall Kentucky's size makes the difference to me.

Got that right. As a UMd fan, Duke was always on the Most Hated Top 2 list (along with UNC). Plus my brother went there cause he was so smart.
Now, about that looking 60 remark, I resemble that! Nothing wrong with looking 60 (I do), unless you are 45 (I ain't, Laettner is).:wink2:^&grin^&grin -- Al

I hate Duke too. I really hate them for the UNLV debacle, although I do take solace in the year before 30 point blowout (which I believe is still the largest margin of victory ever in the Championship) to which UNLV destoryed Duke and the Hurley/Laetner menace. Sad thing is the next year UNLV team was even better except for one game...............Hopefully Kentucky doesn't have that happen as I believe this team ranks up there with the best ever, while not a UK fan per se, I would like to see them finish it. Reminds me of a number of years ago UCLA team, wasn't a fan, but they were sure fun to watch int he tourney and they finished it!

Again, I hate Duke.

As much as I 'dislike' Duke, I would like to see them get to the finals against UK. It would be the ultimate chance for payback from the 1992 'greatest game ever played' for UK. How great would that rematch be? A chance to go 40-0 AND beat Duke for the Title. Couldn't get any better than that for UK. -- Al

Duke represents, on the whole, all that is positive about modern day college athletics while Kentucky basketball, as now in the hands of that snake oil salesman Calipari, the worst. If Tubby Hayes or Pitino were coaching Kentucky, I would feel different. Wherever Calipari has been, destruction has been left in his wake, notwithstanding that somehow that guilt has not touched him. Calipari is all about winning, not getting his students to be part of the college. Sorry, but one and done is not what college should be about.

You could never say that about Duke and Coach K. Duke all way (although Kentucky will probably win).

Hating Duke is easy for some of us.

Duke and Coach K, UNC and Coach Smith, these are both class organizations. The problem stems from all the success. It makes the students/alumni of less successful programs extremely jealous, thus the rivalry and hate. I should know, as a UMd alumni, these two programs have bedeviled UMd for decades and the victories over them are moments in time to be remembered and celebrated. I hated Smith and hate Coach K but I was sorry to see Smith retire, and I will feel the same when Coach K steps down. They may be 'our' enemies, but they are what college b-ball should be about. -- Al

Well Brad, your beloved Coach K recruits the same players as Calapari, he's just not as successful at it. What coach would turn down the team UK has assembled? Chris

Al, my son saw a report that Melo Trimble will be back next yr. :smile2: Chris

Well that is certainly good news. Rumors been surfacing all year that he was one and done. With Wells done, the loss of Trimble would have been hard to overcome. He is a terrific player and will be essential again, if UMd is to be competitive. -- Al

One of my final four teams is out, Oklahoma lost to Michigan @#$%ing State; that's Izzo, really appreciate it.

23rd ranked team in the country with 11 losses is now one win away from the final four, basically the last Cinderella left in the field at this point along with maybe Louisville, ranked 17th; one of these two is getting to the final four.

Here's hoping it's Louisville, always liked Pittino...............

The ACC still has 3 teams in the mix, which means there could still be an all ACC final. That is a tall order because it means ND has to beat UK, not likely in my opinion. There is a far better chance of a Duke-UK final but Duke has been somewhat less than overwhelming. UK v Gonzaga is a good possibility. The cream rises, as the remaining three #1's have proved, so who knows? At this moment, my money is on Duke or Gonzaga in the finals against UK, who takes it all. Gee, pretty daring to pick the undefeated and #1 ranked team in the country, eh?:wink2: -- Al

Al:

Winning and success will always breed jealousy and hate.

I feel that way about Seattle in the NFL. I really dislike the Seahawks but I respect them and their organization. The fact is if they didn't win and beat up on the Niners I wouldn't give them a second thought.

I don't think he recruits players who can't make it educationally at Duke and he doesn't encourage them to leave after a year. Unlike Calipari, the man has integrity. Calipari reeks of something else.

Al, think you meant UNC and Coach Williams. Have to disagree here regarding "class organizations." The academic scandal under investigation there should make the Syracuse sanctions seem like a slap on the wrist. Cannot believe Williams did not know what was happening, like Beheim. Not under investigation is the fact that UNC had Hansfeld's mother on the payroll and flew her to Notre Dame so she could watch the younger son play there. We'll see if UNC is subject to the same justice as other schools. Chris

Brad, at least try to get some accuracy in your mud slinging. UK had 6 Mac Donald's All Americans return from last yr's team, including two who are juniors. "One and done"?
