YUUUP. In all seriousness, one of the issues about getting in that really burns me today is that MD was supposed and is a State University, it should be taking in 85% from Maryland (like other State schools are mandated) BUT IT IS NOT. It really is wrong IMO, they are actively courting out of state students in order to get more tuition, it is a well known fact and it doesn't sit well with me. They utilize our State dollars, but they prefer and cater to out of state. That is just wrong IMO and one of the many reasons I am not happy with my alma mater. Half jokingly I told my 16 year old that if that is his choice, I am not paying..........fortunately, it is not even on the list! (Part of me is sad at that but larger part is happy unfortunately)

TD

Didn't know UM was marketing to out-of-state students Tom. But I remember there were many students from NY and NJ even when I was there in the early 70s. Best of luck to your son wherever he decides to go to school. Chris

Hah. I might get in, but I doubt it, and as to the Big 10, I was raised on the ACC, and that hasn't really changed. Still not into the Big 10. That move was a huge error from my POV. -- Al

As noted by my posts I love college football.

However, I hate the recent moves from conference to conference and the expanding of the same. In the golden age of football Maryland will always be an ACC team, Texas A&M will always be in the Big 12, and the PAC-12 will always be the PAC-10 and so on.

We be dinosaurs still roaming the earth, just waiting for the comet. :wink2: -- Al

The PAC is back in business this weekend. Among the many oddities of this foul year is that they will be kicking off some of these games at 9AM on the west coast. It will be odd to watch my USC Trojans playing at noon EST instead of midnight for once.

Maryland vs. Minnesota proved to be a great game last.

I get it, neither one is going to the playoff but that was entertaining on a national stage and well worth the watch.

It was entertaining even though it was the definition of a Jekyll and Hyde game. UMd blows a 14 point lead, giving up 31 straight points, then comes back in the 4th, scoring 17 to tie and the first 7 in OT (making it 24 straight points), and then getting the win only after Minnesota misses the extra point, 45-44. Yep. entertaining is the word, but it still had me cussing the Terps.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Great game in progress as Boston College is taking Clemson to the woodshed, in Death Valley yet! 28-10 with 1 minute left in the 1st half. {eek3} -- Al

BC bubble has burst as Clemson has scored 22 straight points and now leads 32-28 with 11 minutes left. -- Al

The best moment of the season so far was from this game.

Joe Tessitore was calling the game for ABC when his son who plays for BC took a surprising snap under center on a BC attempted field goal, which resulted in a penalty on Clemson and a first down for BC.

I know the MAC will not be part of the playoff but it was great to see quite a few of their games on TV on a Wednesday night.

The return of the PAC-12 is a mess.

Two games have been canceled before their season has started, this despite the fact that one of those games involves positive test on the Cal roster. They play in one of the few states that still has extremely restrictive COVID parameters/lockdowns.

It's about to get worse everywhere, we now have a curfew here in MA, can't be out between 10:000m and 5:00am for the most part.

The mighty Trojans lucked out big time today. That's the first time I can remember in decades a team recovering an onside kick and then scoring the winning TD. And in terms of COVID, the California governor would not even allow the families of the players to attend the game. In a venue that holds more than 70K! Meanwhile there are large groups on the streets of LA and SF. The age of idiocracy. No wonder people are fleeing California in record numbers.

2020 continues to be the year that can't be believed. UMd. the Terps, trounced PSU today in a game that wasn't as close as the final score of 35-19. It was only UMd's third ever win over PSU in the series which PSU leads 40-3-1. The 35 points is the most UMd has ever scored against PSU. 2020, jeesh... -- Al

What a game, ND vs Clemson, two overtimes, ND wins it 47-40....................good for them.

Then after the game the fans stormed the field, thousands of them crammed in on top of each other.........

Nice; a super spreader in South Bend, just awesome.

We are a country of morons...............and COVID has nothing to do with it.

The rankings need to take into account the conferences that have had late starts and COVID issues.

There is no way Ohio State should be No. 2 after starting weeks after everyone else.

However the worst one of all is Wisconsin and their No. 13 ranking. They are 1-0, while much of the rest of college football has played 7 or more games (the same goes for Oregon at No. 11).

A couple of weeks ago Kirk Herbstreit and Joey Galloway said that Justin Fields was now the front runner for the Heisman as Trevor Lawrence was going to miss a game or 2 due to his positive test.

Oops, the Ohio State Maryland game was just canceled meaning Fields will only play in a maximum of 7 games. Trevor Lawrence has already played in 6 games.

My Trojans are ranked #20. I was impressed until I saw that Liberty is ranked #22. Does that mean there are only 22 teams playing this year or has Liberty transformed itself into a football power through divine intervention?

Covid continues to play havoc with the NCAA. Virtually all the teams I follow were scheduled to play today but have all been postponed or cancelled. Only Army is playing of the 3 service academies. Bummer of a Saturday.{sm2} -- Al

As a college football fan I was slightly unnerved by some of the “gamesmanship” from the head coaches of Army and Iowa this weekend.

Army’s coach basically said Air Force was using recent positive COVID tests as a way to avoid playing the Black Knights. Iowa’s coach used his 3 remaining timeouts in the final minute of a blowout win against Minnesota.

Each coach cited issues with the opposing coach’s recruiting tactics as the reasons for their actions.

That is weak considering the student athletes on the other team have nothing to do with an administration’s recruitment ploys.
