Jason, I'm a huge Navy fan, but I always root for Army and Air Force, as well. Love to see them win their ball games against bigger opponents but really just enjoy the purity of the game that the service academies bring to the contest. Watching them is a lot of fun. -- AlAl:
I get it, winning is all that matters.
However, Army has some of the strictest acedmic and moral requirements in college athletics (along with the other service academies). They have 0 sports scholarships. They "recruit" based on the fact that the young men and women who attend their school will someday lead others into battle, also known as life or death.
Meanwhile, over the last two years Army football has pushed schools like Oklahoma and Michigan to the brink. Two schools that all but waive academics in order to achieve football success.
While they didn't win either game, they proved that a college can be competitive in athletics while maintaining strict academic/leadership requirements.
