NCAA Football 2019 (2 Viewers)

One of my friends and his wife flew to Texas today to visit another couple, they met while on vacation a few years ago and have stayed in touch.

They told my friend and his wife they are going to a local hang out to watch the Longhorns/Sooners game on Saturday, they're huge Longhorn fans.

My friends wife is excited to hang out and have fun with her Texas friends, but she told me she wished he had some U/T gear to wear to Texas to get into the spirit; today when I saw them off at the airport, I gave her a game jersey to wear, she was so excited, she put it on and said her friends will be so happy to see her in it when she gets off the plane.

I told her "If you really want to impress them, when you see them after you get off the plane, tell them Boomer Sooner!!!"...……..

Because yeah, it was a Sooners game jersey...………………...:wink2:

George, you are bad. So will you be attending her services?:wink2: -- Al

I told her to make sure she sends me a picture of their reaction to her game jersey...……………….:wink2:

Sorry, she walked right into that one.

With that Sooners game jersey on, she'll look great at her viewing...…………….^&grin

From a football standpoint it should be a good game, however as much as UT has improved they do not stand much of a chance against OU.

In short UT is on the upswing, OU is simply dominant.

I thought the same thing last year and OU lost.

With so many dominant undefeated teams, they cannot afford a loss, then they are thrown into the jumble of a **** ton of other one loss teams and they are doomed...………..when it comes to this game, all bets are off.

Hoping there are some snow games today out in the hinterland where it has been snowing like something out of The Shining. My Trojans are in South Bend but for some reason it doesn't appear to be snowing there. Just windy and cold.

Sooners win.

Georgia loses when their FG kicker misses in OT.

College football has the OT thing down pat.

Tough week for sports in the state of Georgia.

SOS, different week. Yawn.

I went on a hiking weekend and didn’t watch a second of sports on TV. Engaging in your own sports is 10,000 times better than watching others.

Split weekend as Navy wins but UMd Terps lose big to a Purdue team they probably should have beaten. Not real confident the Terps can stay with Indiana after this. -- Al

My Trojans put up a surprisingly good fight against the Irish. Whenever you play in South Bend you know the refs are going to make calls against you when it counts. And that held true. Roughing the passer when SC had stopped ND and had a chance to win the game was awful. And the capper was the ND coach twenty yards on the field during the onside kick. He was actually standing in the middle of the field when SC kicked the ball. I've never seen anything like that in all my years of watching football. A couple weeks ago the refs threw a flag against SC when a player on the sideline chest bumped a player coming off the field after a big play and his toe landed just beyond the sideline. The biased NBC commenters went on and on about how it would not have resulted in SC getting the ball but just another onside that could have changed the outcome of the game. Like it was no big deal. Just the game hanging in the balance.

I am a little fed up with the biased commentators on college football broadcasts. Kirk Herbstreit works Ohio State into every single conversation as does Joey Galloway. Paul Finebaum is constantly working back to the SEC even if the topic is who will win the Big 10. The list goes on and on.

On a positive note, Sean McDonough is the best football play by play broadcaster going right now. ESPN should have never removed him from MNF.

Yes, ND has a big contract with NBC to carry their games. The commentators fawn over them like the only people who watch their games are ND fans from the 1930s. The only worse homers are Canadian hockey announcers. They are usually on the sauce and ranting at the refs like maniacs. I sometimes listen to them on satellite radio for laughs. A lot of those guys are former hockey players who took a few to the head.

Ugly performance last night from Stanford. They got rolled at home in front of an empty stadium by the worst team in the PAC. The Stanford QB had a QB rating of 8. Stanford can be maddening. They sometimes look like a top twenty team and other times like they have couldn't beat a middle school team.

Stanford started Jack West who is their third string quarterback last night, after Costello (thumb injury) and Mills (knee injury) were ruled out. A weak UCLA team beating a mediocre Stanford team playing without its first and second string QBs is not a surprise.

The great thing about West is that he turned down a scholarship to Alabama in order to play at Stanford because it is a better school. Imagine that.

Hopefully he gets a good education there because I don't think he will make a living playing football. He was awful. If Saban recruited him, it was as the waterbody or to raise the 0.0 GPA of his starters.

I'll give him some time before I pass judgment on his football skills.

However when it comes to choosing schools based on academics I can safely say the guy knows what he is doing.

I agree a Stanford degree is worth its weight, however, the SEC schools, particularly Alabama and South Carolina are rising fast. They are actively recruiting outside of the their States in earnest. Funny how that works, at least in Alabama's case is when athletics pour more and more money into the school, the rising ship raises all. Anyhow, I mention this as I have a fairly intelligent 15 year old (on paper at least) and the schools are already knocking. I personally am pulling for Washington & Lee or Vanderbilt, but it is early yet. USC Trojans are on this list (my pocketbook is screaming at that one) too. Anyhow, should be a fun next 2 years...….

Tom:

I think you are looking at $50k-$60k with any of those schools!!!!

A few years ago our youngest narrowed his two choices to Rice and Texas. With room and board etc. Rice was about $55k per year, UT was about $15k per year. Thankfully he chose UT!

All you have to do is put your wheeling and dealing toy soldier hat on, thin out your collection and Logan gets a free ride to the school of his choice thanks to your smart purchases over the years.
