NCAA Football 2019 (1 Viewer)

Actually someone on another forum made a great point; it would work the other way around, a star at a second tier school would transfer to an elite school, so the rich will get richer.

Oh joy.

I'm thinking that a lot of quality players who are recruited to elite schools and don't make the cut will transfer elsewhere. Lesser teams have the roster space to add elite players. Teams like Bama are not going to have the scholarships to add many new players. USC is in a unique situation in that an elite coach came to the school and brought his Heisman-level QB. Otherwise there is no way Caleb Williams jumps ship as the starter of Oklahoma.

College football no longer exists.

The minute NILs and transfers arrived (along with legalized gambling) it all ended.

Players are no longer student athletes who come to school for an education, great campus life and tradition they come for the money and that alone separates them from college life and fellow students.

We need to accept it and call it like it is.

How about the Noles! Oh jeez, they deserved to win that game but my goodness did they make it hard and ugly and just about gave it away. Nice to see the ball bounce our way literally for once (in the last 5 years). Exciting, lost a few years, but exciting. And beating Brian Kelly (my least favorite coach in the entire NCAAF nation) was a bonus! Ruined his LSU debut.

TD

The LSU and Florida St. game was fun to watch. I really dislike Brian "y'all" Kelly. So good to see him lose in heart breaking style. His nine win and done legacy is not going to cut in the SEC for long. Nice golf shirt, though.

Steve "Eight win" Sark is already downplaying the upcoming Texas game against Bama. He knows that it is likely he gets taken to the woodshed by Nick Saban and the Tide. Sark is the most overrated coach in college football. He takes a good program and turns it to mediocre, collects millions and leaves it in ruins. USC fired him for coaching drunk and he sued them claiming his alcoholism was a disability. What a stand up guy. I hope Saban shows no mercy and runs the score up to 100-0. Saban used to yell and humiliate Sark on the sidelines like Sgt. Carter and Gomer Pyle. Hopefully that continues on the field.

Each team seemed determined to lose with the turnovers in the final 2 minutes. Wonder if the LSU special teams coach is on the hot seat with blocked PAT, FG and muffed punt? Not all his fault but someone has to take the blame and Kelly will probably make him the fall guy.

Yes, that was a crazy ending with both teams making bonehead plays. The coaches bear some responsibility. Pitching the ball on the goal line? I also really dislike the rule that does not allow a player to advance a muffed punt. That should have been a game ending TD for FSU when the ball bounced off the LSU punt returner and the defender recovered it and ran into the end zone. The blocked PAT was a jail break. Not sure exactly how that happened unless LSU lined up incorrectly. There were three FSU players coming from the left and only one LSU guy who whiffed on the inside guy who blocked the kick. No chance to make that one. I guess that is why college football is still entertaining. You never know what is going to happen.

Give me college football over pro football any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

The vast majority of these kids will never step on an NFL field, so the human factor/errors/jitters is huge.

The atmosphere in the stadiums is top shelf, the apoplectic look on some of the kids' faces after a huge play is priceless.

ND is still ranked in the top ten despite being 0-1. I give them credit for playing a tough road opponent in Ohio St. instead of a cupcake team like Bama, but when you have played only one game and lost, you shouldn't be ranked in the top ten. Utah is #13 despite losing to a mediocre Florida team.

Class move by Sarkisian thanking Saban for giving him a second chance after his battle with alcoholism.

The same goes for Saban who credited Sarkisian with being a huge reason why Alabama football has been so successful.

GO LONGHORNS!!!

Not understanding what the refs are doing in this game.

John from Texas

The only big “college football” game played this weekend in the top 10 was #9 Duke vs. # 9 Northwestern.

Both schools are tied at 9 in academic rankings.

The rest of the games were amateur athletes playing for NILs and other non related scholastic “achievements”.

In a game between two top 20 teams Saturday’s win marked the first time since 1976-77 Kentucky has beaten the Florida Gators in back-to-back years. More than that, UK is now 3-2 over Florida over the past five years. Florida had a 35 year win streak over UK until then. The win makes HC Mark Stoops the winningest coach in UK history passing Bear Bryant. Not many remember Bryant coached at UK for eight yrs prior to Alabama. Of course UK is playing three "powder puff" games per season that the Bear never had on his schedule. Let's go Wildcats! Chris

Great day of College FB! Congrats to Mark Stoops and Kentucky, I really loved him when he was FSU's Defensive Coordinator.

UGH, my son's a Longhorn, was at that game, lined up at 4AM (with his Student Big Ticket and fast pass), what a crazy atmosphere, he said it was the wildest College Football game he has ever been to. And then to come up short, literally, 1 tackle away from defeating the Empire. I don't know if Texas is back, but I would have to say Sark has them competitive and thinking they can win again. Both QB's looked efficient against what I think is a very tough Alabama team, you know they are well coached. I look at this game as part heartbreaking, part exciting as they certainly don't look like a doormat as Texas has for a few years. Also, if you get a chance, google Matthew Mcconaughey's promo of the game, at least there is excitement down there again, should be a good ride for my son over the next few years!

Florida State - great weekend, we sit at 2-0 and didn't have to play with a bye. No heart stress here at least!

College Game Day will held at Appalachia State next week after beating Texas A&M. :salute:: I think it's great they're getting some recognition. They also beat Michigan back in 2007. Go Mountaineers!

Tom:

I had no idea your son was a Longhorn!

Congrats all around.

Hopefully sometime in the next 4 years we can meet-up in Austin.

Best,
Jason

Yes sir, there all the time for work! He chose Texas over USC (So Cal) and Syracuse among others, very proud. Ironically, I was in Austin last night, in Temple tonight. Somehow screwed up the timing on this one as Iron Maiden is in the Moody Center right now!

We need to hook up again as I am in Texas more than home!

Tom:

Sorry you missed out on Iron Maiden but I am incredibly happy to learn that your son has joined the UT family!

Our oldest chose UT instantly while the youngest chose between UT and Rice. We breathed a sigh of tuition relief when he chose UT (in-state tuition vs. Rice and it’s private school costs).

But seriously, pleae let me know when are in town over the next few years, would be great to take you and the family out to dinner etc.

Best,
Jason
