So, I am really enjoying Tony Romo as an announcer. His enthusiasm and knowledge of the game and players kept me from fast forwarding through so much of the Dallas v KC game.
Last night's game was more than ugly . . . . I had a feeling this was going to happen when Rodgers broke his collar bone . . . . The Packers have no pass rush, no secondary, and no offense anymore . . . . very sad . . .
:smile2: Mike
I know one or two guys that post on here are pretty vocal about ousting Gooddell...
you might enjoy this article...
from ESPN...
Jerry Jones threatens to sue NFL if Roger Goodell's contract extension is approved
http://www.espn.com/espn/otl/story/...allas-cowboys-threatens-sue-nfl-roger-goodell
I'm confused by this; when Jones was asked about the job Goodell was doing specifically referencing how he handled the Brady suspension/Patriots paying a million dollar fine and losing their first round draft pick, he said "I think the commissioner is doing a fine job, myself and the other owners fully support his decisions regarding this situation"...............but now he wants to go Al Davis on the league?
OH RIGHT; now it's one of his'n being suspended as opposed to one of your'n.....................what a hypocrite.
He really needs a toupee with some brains in it.
Jones is only out for himself but the problem is that under the NFL system Goodell is Judge and jury; it's not a system of discipline courts like, which is why every well known discipline case seems to wind up in the courts.
You could probably add the Halas family to the above two.
Kraft got totally blindsided with the Deflategate farce; he thought he was one of the good old boys, one of the fellas, one of the power owners and a pal to everyone.
Boy was he wrong.
He quickly learned that despite helping build the NFL brand in the 80's and 90's the other owners turned on him in an instant, mostly out of jealousy.
On the CTE front I am starting to realize that there is plenty of blame to go around.
The owners/league have tried to implement protocols for player safety by requiring players to get checked out after taking obvious, large hits to the helmet and head area. Yet just about every week I see a player get crushed then he tries to either return to the field to play or flat out refuses to go through the sideline testing.
Again, I am no fan of the owners but at the very least they are trying to protect players and avoid some of the future calamities that come with playing the game. The players can't demand action, refuse to follow medical advice and then complain when their careers are over that the league did not try and help. Sorry guys, you can't have it both ways.
The owners covered up for as long as possible. If they were truly interested in player safety they would shorten the schedule by going back to 14 games and forget the preseason farce. But that means money out of their pockets. They are solely interested in profit. That sometimes entails making symbolic concessions for public relations but never substantive changes. Players are expected play injured in the league. That is the culture. They know their careers would suffer if they didn't play hurt. I saw a sideline commentator recently question the toughness of the UCLA QB when he got knocked out of a game and suggested his unwillingness to play hurt would hurt his draft status. Turns out he had a concussion. They need neutral doctors to make the call on the sidelines and force guys to sit when they are hurt.
Yup, the reason the other owners fully supported Goodells handling of Deflategate was they were sick of the Patriots winning, ie, jealousy.
What a classy bunch, I feel the same way towards the owners as Doug/Combat does................pond scum, the whole lot of them.
George,
I don't necessarily disagree, but I thought and always have thought the Rooneys and Kraft always got along quite well. If you will recall recently when Blount walked out of Pittsburgh under cloudy circumstances and then reappeared as a Patriot literally 3 days later, there was zero commotion over that and let's be honest in that situation, can you imagine some of the owners reaction ie tampering, etc etc. It almost seemed like the Steelers and Pats got together and gave the guy a landing place even though odds are they were going to see each other in January. I know I am a homer for Pittsburgh, but I believe the Rooney family has been a leader and they are not the jealous type. I think they are a very quiet but powerful owner family, you don't read any of their dirty laundry or opinions in the newsrags.
We only really ever see the vocal and loud owners to include Jones, the Davis, the nimrod from San Diego, etc.
And , right now, I am rooting for the Jones contingent to finally oust Goodell. That joke has got to go!

Big article in the Post sports section this AM about how it's time for Eli to move on and the Giants to give the younger Qb's a shot. Interesting article. -- AlToday may be a make or break game for the Giants coach. If they lose to the winless Niners, his fate is sealed. It would be in the Niners interest to lose. Otherwise they will be tied with the Giants for the number 2 pick in the draft.
