Nfl season 2017-2018 (1 Viewer)

Mike,
Thanks for posting this; just when I thought my opinion of him couldn't sink any lower............................unbelievable gall.....................wasn't aware that only 6 owner had to sign off and the other 26 have no say, there's something wrong about that process.

George...
back to who votes on Gooddell's extension......
this article says....

"All 32 owners voted unanimously in May to let the committee finalize a deal with Goodell."

so yea...
I guess the other 26 owners not on the committee...
don't have an actual vote....
they have basically designated 6 proxies to represent their vote...

So 6 speak for 32; what could possibly go wrong with that?.......................;)..................

I see that the NFL has sent Jones a letter.

Brad...
yes...
they want him to stop making waves and are threatening to take his team away from him...
they did it in the NBA...
maybe it's possible...
but I don't think so...
I think he has a right to see Gooddell's contract...

George...
yea...
you're talking a lot of money...
and if the league was setting new revenue records...
I could maybe see it...
sort of...maybe...kind of...
naaaaaaaaaah...that's just too much...

but the lifetime use of a private jet...
even after he retires...
they are obligated to let him use their jet for lifetime...
that's silly...
not to mention the lifetime insurance...
not only for him...
but his family...

if you made 40-50 million a year...
couldn't you afford your own personal jet?

And the soap opera that is the NFL just continues to spiral out of control, further alienating the fans that made the NFL the juggernaut that it was but now insists on taking that goodwill and running it into the ground in it's own unique Gotterdammerung... -- Al

Forget Goodell and his $50 mil. I say the NFL needs 32 commissioners. Each owner should have their own commissioner who they pay $1.5 mil per year (the amount each of the 32 would be paying for Goodell). That way they can each have their own flunky who they can trot out before the media each time they and/or their franchise makes a mistake.

Nice to finally see a near complete performance by the Steelers. We continue to look dumb at times, but certainly a better game. Need to continue to play man to man in the secondary, in order to have a chance to win the AFC, that is a must.

I watched that game...it was a nice dominant win...

I say good for Jerry, expose the worthlessness of the NFL.

TD

I'd say good for Jerry, too, were it not for the situation with Elliot. As is, however, the dispute over the commissioner looks like crass opportunism on Jones' part. I haven't asked around, but I'm sure a lot of fans view his stance on Goodell the same way as myself.

Aside from the issues with Goodell, the protests, domestic violence etc. I feel that the NFL product as whole is lacking. It has gotten old and tired. The games are all too predictable and worse yet most are blowouts.

I am trying to hang in there but each week I seem to have less and less interest.

My apathy toward the NFL grew a little more today. I had a chance to watch two games today, the Patriots vs. the Raiders and the Eagles vs. the Cowboys. Both turned out to be noncompetitive blowouts.

Notwithstanding that some of the marquee games were not very good, there were some good games such as Saints Redskins and Lions Bears. You just didn’t see the right ones :wink2:

Wish I hadn't seen the Redskins/Saints game. While a very entertaining game, it is possibly the most disheartening loss by the Redskins that I have witnessed in 50+ years as a fan of that team. I am sure there are more important losses (playoffs and such), but for sheer nausea-inducing frustration, this one takes the prize. If this occurred 25 or so years ago, when I was all-in as a Redskin fan, I might have opened a vein. Sad thing is, as a glass half-empty breed of Redskin fan, I expected the collapse and was unsurprised, if still incredulous, that it occurred. Such is sports in DC. :rolleyes2: -- Al

The AFC is so poor that teams that are 3-6 are still in the playoff picture. For example, the Bills, who have been blown out the last three games and don’t have a QB, are the 7th seed.

The AFC is a clownshow this year; it's the Patriots, then the Steelers, then.......................who knows. The Jags? The Chefs?

That THUD you heard yesterday was the Chefs falling back to earth; 9 points vs the Giants? They are lucky they didn't lose that game in regulation as the Giants kicker missed the PAT......................

I heard a hilarious quote from an announcer this weekend about Jacksonville and their great defense:

"The Jacksonville defense has only one weakness, Blake Bortles"
