Nfl season 2017-2018 (2 Viewers)

You seem rather critical of the Jaguars but they've had a winning season so far (the first one in 10 years) and they have Tom Coughlin running things, with Doug Marrone as Coach (the only Coach at Buffalo to have a winning record there since 2004) so they are in good hands and slowly getting better. If Eli leaves the Giants, it's possible he moves to Jacksonville (because of his relationship with Tom).

Brad:

I think Tom Coughlin is a brilliant NFL mind who will someday be in the Hall of Fame and I think that Doug Marrone has proven himself as a great coach. I just don't think that it is time to crown the Jags as the next threat to beat the Patriots.

You may think he's a stooge but there wouldn't have been a WFAN without him and there wouldn't have been sports radio with Francesa. He's retiring on December 15 and it won't be the same without him in the afternoons. Everyone one else pales in comparison to him.

I'm more of a Mad Dog guy myself.

Funniest and I mean THE funniest thing he ever said was back in 2004 when the MFY's were gagging away their 3-0 ALCS lead vs the Red Sox and Francesa was ranting about how there is no how, NO WAY the Red Sox are beating the Yankees on Mickey Mantle's birthday and winning the series after being down 3-0, to which Mad Dog replied "You're absolutely right Mike; they didn't beat them on Mickey Mantle's birthday; they beat them on Whitey Ford's!!"

Just priceless.

A sure sign that Thursday Night Football is a bad idea...My wife asked me what time the Redskin game started tonight...I looked at her, smacked my forehead and realized that I had completely forgotten that there was a game tonight and the Redskin/Cowboy game at that. If my wife hadn't asked about the game, I would have probably missed it, unless I ran across it while channel hopping. I simply can't remember or adjust to watching the NFL on Thursday nights. -- Al

Thanks for reminding me the game is on so that I don't accidently watch it.

Not a Mad Dog fan, a bit too much for me. I listened to him a little bit on SiriusXM and found him unlistenable.

I suppose Francesa will wind up somewhere else but has a contractual restriction until April of next year.

His replacement is a trio of Chris Carlin, Bart Scott and Maggie Gray. It will be awful.

He was perfect for fatso, he was the yin to his yang.

That trio sounds awful; trio's don't work, too much gabbing, one talking over the other, it's awful, like when they have three people in a booth for a sports broadcast, one is always yammering over the other two..................

Saw this on a sports message board a few minutes ago; "Cousins is having the worst visit to Dallas by a DC resident in November since JFK"..............that's just so wrong on a number of levels, but sums up the 2017 Redskins season in a nutshell.

Not really accurate. True, the Skins trail 24-14, but Cousins hasn't been bad with 2 TD's and 243 yards, just not good enough to win. But, as you say, that's the Skins in a nutshell. -- Al

Well, I picked Cousins in fantasy...................2 ints and 1 fumble lost equals minus 3!

Cousins played ok, but the Redskins' rushing defense was terrible.

I never said that Jason but if they get Eli, they will be a force. Right now, they’re trying to be a good team that is in contention for a playoff spot.

Well I’m one Giants fan who won’t watch a minute of Giants football until both McAdon’t and Jerry Reese are gone.😡

Brad:

Apologies on the confusion, I was not implying that you said it. Most of the talk about the Jags being a threat to the Patriots can be found on the NFL Network.

Agreed on where they are and judging from some of Coughlin's recent comments I think they might make a run at Eli.

I also heard that the Broncos are very interested.

Eli landing in Denver; like one Manning there wasn't bad enough for me...............................it just never ends with these two bozo's; they've won a combined 4 Super Bowls and each time, then went through the Patriots to do it.......................

Jason,

None needed!

I wasn’t aware that they said that on the NFL Network. I agree it’s farfetched. I can’t think of any team right now that could threaten the Pats in the AFC. Aside from the Steelers they all seem mediocre.

I wonder how many Giant fans will root against them on Sunday. It’s probsbly better for McAdoo that Sunday’s game is on the road.

I’ll be rooting against the Giants until McAdon’t and Reese are given their walking papers. 😡 I really don’t know what these two incompetents are thinking, if they are thinking at all!🤪

I like Gronk, but that was a real dirty play, should be a 1 game suspension on that, that play has no place in football. Honestly, if we had the rules that were necessary in place, those kind of plays could get you ushered for the year! In all seriousness, he has never been a dirty player, but there is no excuse for hitting a defenseless face down guy on the ground by taking all 270lbs and forearm to him, that is flat out dangerous and the guy is now in concussion protocol.

Again, there are very hard hits during the course of the game, I truly believe most "late" hits are never intentional or at least for most part are not. Some players just play through the whistle at full speed. However, when they are extra curricular and long after the play is over, that is just inexcusable. And I know Gronk has never been like that, but in this case, bad move.

It was very uncharacteristic for him and I like him a lot, but I agree... there has to be a punishment for it.
Generally I’d say suspension, but when you look week to week what doesn’t garner suspension, I’d say monetary fine.
The nfl needs a model penal code like the law. Set down the actions and set down the punishments for those actions and stick to it. It’s too wishy washy from player to player the way it is
