Victor Kiam, a blast from the past. Didn’t he want to move the team to Hartford.

He bought the team from the original owner Billy Sullivan, but not the stadium, which Sullivan lost as a result of Michael Jacksons Victory tour, his moron son backed the tour and used the stadium as collateral, Robert Kraft bought the stadium. Kiam tried to move the team to CT as a result, but that blew up, so he sold the team to James Orthwein.

For the better part of the first 40 years of their existence, the Patriots were a laughing stock of a franchise.

I keep telling my nephew this. He hasn’t known bad Boston sports yet!

My best friend has twin boys aged 22; in their lifetime, they've seen 10 championships, 15 trips to the finals and 19 trips to the Championship round, just mind boggling.

They have no clue about the buffoonery that came before them..............

Pittsburgh has no life tonight. It seems like the Shazier injury has taken them out of the game.

That was an awful injury, he had zero movement in his legs. He reached for the middle of his back/spine after the hit, I was sick to my stomach watching that.

Just hope he's ok, the Hell with football.

Still no great update on Shazier, I stopped watching the game after that until my wife woke me up to see winning FG, honestly, that injury was awful. This morning, the only thing I heard was he has feeling, but that was not an official update.

Saw highlights of other hits - will be fines on JuJu and the Bengals Safety. 2 head shots, but they happen as football plays, so probably hefty fines. I still think Burfict is an *** and sets the tone for this crap from the Bengals, of course don't want to see anyone hurt and apparently he is ok, but I hate to even say this - kharma is a true witch. That guy is always in the middle of the controversy and you know the entire NFL who plays against him is always looking for an opening to lay him out. The Steelers hate him, he ended the seasons of Bell and Brown with dirty hits and that is hard to forget. I will say it again, he is a rotten apple and should be permanently removed from the game.

Back to Shazier - I hope he is ok, it was just an ugly scene.

Ok, not sure I agree with the suspensions of 1 game each for Ju Ju and the Bengal Safety, I think they were bad hits, but hard to equate their 1 game to Gronk's Hulk Hogan Elbow drop!!! But once again, the NFL rears its ugly head. On one hand they are all first time offenders and maybe fines would have been ok for all 3, on the other hand suspensions are clearly ok too b/c of the message of trying to get rid of these type of hits. I am just having a hard time equating a 1 game penalty appropriate for all 3.

End of day, the taunting, head hunting and losing your cool should not happen in a game.

A crazy game for sure, hoping Shazier is ok.....Ben R. stated it the best about the rivalries in the North, stated when the Steelers play the Ravens they expect a tough hard hitting game but with mutual respect with both teams towards each other..then stated but with the Bengals not so much, it just seems to get nasty each game.

Tom, this is what I was talking about. The penalties, fines and suspensions are silly nilly. One guy can do the same thing as another guy and nothing happens or that same guy can be suspended 3 games. The rule book needs a penalty section. And there should be graduated punishments, different for first and repeat offenders. If gronk does that again, the penalty next time should be two games, and so on

With today’s environment and concern for head injuries, the NFL had no choice but to fine these players. I’m sure the CBA stipulates the applicable penalties but, if permissible, I would have fined each of them two games, including Gronk. The players on the receiving end could have suffered concussions and the player Gronkowski body slammed suffered a concussion.

They were.

Ju Ju threw a crack back block, which is illegal.

Then to add to it further, it was helmet to helmet.

The cherry on top of the sundae was him standing over the player taunting him.

Fine and suspension.

End of story.

No grey area there.

The NFL denied Gronkowski's appeal, he's out vs the Doofins Monday night, he can't practice or be at the facility until Monday of next week.

A beat reporter was on the local drive time talk radio show today and said Belichick is livid at Gronkowski over this; that coupled with Gronkowski now likely to miss a couple of minimal numbers he needs for contract incentives to kick in equals one thing; he's going to be a very pissed off and motivated fella in Pittsburg in two weeks.

Brad, not sure if you misunderstood me or not. I agree they should be punished, I just want it standardized.

Zach, I wasn’t replying to your post specifically.

After firing the coach and GM, the Giants have named Eli the starting QB again.

What a broken toilet of a franchise.

So the fans run the show there; sounds more like the University of Tennessee to me.

What a joke.

It seems strange to me that the player's union has been asking for more over-sight and enforcement of the rules to prevent head injuries/trauma, then when the league does step in and suspends or fines a players for those types of hits that same union appeals the punishment?

It's just part of the process; fines equal money out of their pockets, suspension without pay equal money out of their pockets, the union is doing their job to get the fines reduced and/or the suspensions reduced.

It is what it is, one has nothing to do with the other.

I can’t agree with you. The owners finally realized what many fans had realized all along: that McAdoo was not the right person for the job. The first time I saw him on the sidelines as an Aasistant Coach, I felt his hiring was a mistake. His naming Geno as the QB made them finally open their eyes.

There’s nothing wrong with listening to fans. If you don’t listen to what your customers are saying, then you’re in the wrong business.

They’re also not as far away as you’d like to think.

Are you telling me with a strait face that you think benching Eli was McAdoo's call?

He gets paid to win games and his best shot of winning games is with Eli not Geno Effing Smith.

Benching Eli was the Giants front office going into full tank mode.

Where's Louis when I need him?
