Nfl season 2017-2018 (2 Viewers)

It was a good year for the Jags, something they can build on and Bortles keeps getting better. He’s just not there yet.

Congrats to George. I’d hate to have to deal with him if the Patriots had lost ^&grin

Bortles got some help in that loss with playcalling. When the Jags recovered the fumble, you cant go 3 and out, take less than a minute off the clock with a 10 point lead in the 4th qtr. Terrible play calling.

The Pats are the better team, but in my opinion, they caught a break today and got away with one. Again, the better team won, but I think Jags coaches will look at the tape of the 4th qtr and not be really happy with themselves.

Great game anyhow!

Brad:

The Jags are a completely different team with Coughlin involved. He seems to have brought some grit and determination to the entire organization and to be honest they seem to play like the Giants teams that he coached.

While I do like giving Bortles a hard time, I have to admit he has improved and is not too far from being a star in the NFL.

all that was with Gronk out late in the 2nd...
funky hit by Church...
definitely helmet to helmet...
I'm sure he will be back for the SB...

Maybe George would be a little cranky, but he'd still sell you toy soldiers. Because when in doubt, always make a profit.^&grin

I agree. When they recovered that fumble (which I didn’t really think was a fumble), that was their chance to put NE in a deep hole. I thought Brady was ok today, good, but not great, but good enough.

I thought the score would be larger, something like 28-14.

Now that's aggressive ball. Don't relax, go for points. I actually thought the Birds would run out the clock with :30 left. They surprisingly fooled me. Fooled the VIKES also.

OK. Eagles vs Pats for the title. Pats are 5-4 all time in the SB, Eagles are 0-2...advantage Pats. NFC East is 12-8 all time in the SB, AFC East is 8-11...advantage NFC East. Who's gonna win? Pats. NFC East has played the most SB's as this will be #21. AFC East has the second most SB's as this will be #20. These 2 conferences have won 20 of the 51 SB's and will add another. I guess the East just rules the NFL (with all due credit to Pitt and SF). SB 52 should be a good game but I think I know where most of the TV audience will be drawn from.:rolleyes2: Think I'd like to see the Eagles win their first SB, but don't think it will be easy. Pats just too good...lucky...experienced...well led. Eagles do have mojo going. We shall see...:wink2: -- Al

Al:

Updated post quote with correct numbers as the Patriots have already all but won the trophy:

Pats are 6-4 all time in the SB, Eagles are 0-3. NFC East is 12-9 all time in the SB, AFC East is 9-11.

The only thing more predictable than this outcome was ‘Bama winning the college football trophy and the Warriors winning the NBA title in a few months.

Jason, you are in all probability quite correct. I will tune in anyway on the 1 chance in a 1000 that Foles can 'Eli' the Pats.:wink2: -- Al

I thought the Eagles would win although others thought I was crazy.

I’m sure many will give them no chance but I don’t see it that way.

The NFC as a whole was stronger than the AFC and although I stopped watching after it was 31-7, the better team seemed to be the Eagles an Foles the better QB.

I wouldn’t be so bold as to go make predictions like some here do but I think it will be a very competitive game.

The opening line makes the Pats a 5.5 point favorite.

NE -5 1/2 seems low to me...but they didn't even cover that today against Jacksonville...I bet it will go to at least -7 before kickoff...

Al:

I will probably tune in because there will not be anything else on TV that day.

Best,
Jason

To me it's a real toss up. They both have good defense. Offensively, Brady's thump should be fine. Foles played out of his skin and has shaken off the rust. I think it'll be a good game, because the two best teams are playing. We shall see.

Jason, when you factor in the many SB related shows such as all the pre-game, pre-pre-game, pre-pre-pre-game shows, the shows about SB commercials, the various puppy, cat, alpaca, and trained rat bowls, there will be little else to watch EXCEPT for Turner Classic Movies, which is where I'll be until kick-off as I can't stand all that other crap. Of course, I could always binge watch 'Band of Brothers' until the game starts...:wink2: -- Al

The Eagles played their best game of the season. Hard to match that again in the SB. The Pats were sluggish but managed a win. I see them saving their best for the final game and blowing out the Eagles. My prediction is NE 30 Phil. 17.

I’m feeling pretty good assuming we get gronk back and to a lesser degree burkhead

I'm thinking 35-13. The real Super Bowl was the AFC Title game this year. Jacksonville did exactly what I expected them do but they hung in far longer. I was thinking Pats win 28-17 and essentially pulled ahead middle/ late 3rd quarter. They hung in there and I think a lot of people underestimated them. You don't smack Pittsburgh around in their own house twice in a season and make it to the AFC Title Game on a fluke. No fluke, they are real.

Was always a fan of Fournette at LSU. Seems to still be the class act he was there. Just a good, strong power runner that put a lot of bruises on some Pats defenders. He will be fun to watch as the years go by.

The super human play that kid made on 4th down to kill the Jags momentum was spectacular.

I can't even imagine what it will be like in 10 years or so taking over the Patriots as their new head coach or when Brady retires. The pressure those guys will be under would make diving into the Marianas trench seem easy! :)

I laughed the whole Eagles game- I just can't even imagine being on the Vikings defense and waking up this morning going "Yep, we let Foles look like JOe Namath!" :)
