Nfl season 2017-2018 (2 Viewers)

Pretty wild and entertaining game. Credit to Foles, he hung in there like a real veteran. Again, crazy game, it really was 1 defensive stand that decided the game, other than that, the D's stayed home. Harrison was so close but never got the engine heated up, the offensive schemes on both sides were just picture perfect which made a game. WOW. Congrats to the Eagles fans, tough loss for the Pats.

I wish the Cowboys could get to a SB...
even if they lost...

don't sweat it George...
NE will be back next year...

I’m sure they’re the favorites already. 8 SBs under the present group is awesome. I was 18 when when the Jets went to the SB. Still waiting for the next appearance.

they are...

I hadn't reached puberty the last time the Cowboys went...

I was a late bloomer...^&grin

Congrats to the Eagles for a game well played. At least on the Offensive side of the ball. Same could be said for the Pats. One thing I find very concerning is the NFLs inconsistency with these goal line TD catches. I know they were comparing Ertzs catch to Jesse James catch with Pittsburg. But this was another play that was called back on Austin Sefarian Jenkins from the Jets earlier in the year. Now if this isn't the same as the Ertz play then I don't know what is? Just for the record, I'm a miserable Lions fan so I'm not arguing for the Pats or Eagles. Just saying the NFL sucks at making this particular call.

I ran my mouth and now there is nothing left but the consequences.

99% of the time I would have taken the Patriots. It is that 1% that kills you every time.

Never-mind me. It is the true fans like George that matter. Here is to hoping that the Pats make it back and win it next year.

Aren't you pulling for San Fran next year???

Jets may have made it only once so far but they sure made it count. That game, half-a-century ago, still bothers me and leaves me wondering how the Colts lost. Broadway Joe is one of a kind and I always rooted for them when he was the Qb, except in SB III when they played my beloved Colts. Some believe that was the most important game in NFL history. I would vote for the classic 1958 Sudden Death Championship Game, but I am a little bit biased. SB III sure left a mark, one that won't go away, and it surely is the most important game of the SB era. Continue to bask in it's glory, Brad. :salute:: -- Al

Jason, it was that strip that killed them because until then nothing had stopped the Patriots. However, you do have to give credit to the Eagles for hanging with them.

There were three TD calls for the Eagles that could have gone the other way: the Eagles first TD, the Ertl catch and the Foles TD catch (six men on the line, instead of seven). However, I do feel they were called correctly.

Gronkowski intimated last night that he might retire. That could have been due to the disappointment in losing but we shall see.

Jason, Sammy does make a good point, although when I suggested to my son that maybe the Niners, like the Eagles, could win in the second year under the new regime, he looked at me like I had three heads.

93 pass attempts and only one sack! And no INTs. That was like a video game played on the easiest setting. Pretty entertaining, but not great football. The Eagles coach made some bold calls. He was playing to win. Most coaches take the FG before half and maybe punt in the 4th quarter. Most surprising was how the Pats D got torched all night long. They made Foles look like Joe Montana. Bill Belichick looked like some grumpy old guy who just rolled out of bed in that Rocky Balboa cut off sweatshirt. The Pats had a bit of dynasty malaise. Expecting they could just turn it up a notch at some point and win.

Unfortunately predictable.

I don’t why fans feel they have the right to do this.

Brad...I saw that link...it's the mob mentality...fueled with alcohol...it's contagious...God bless those idiots...

They're just celebrating, Detroit-style.

Really, though, the occurrence of these incidents isn't as high as the Internet might lead us to believe. More of the celebrations ran like the ones I saw as I drove home from my dad's in Harleysville, to Bethlehem. That's a stretch of 30 miles. Fireworks going off all over the place (he has a neighbor who fired off fireworks all season, every time the Eagles scored), people out in their yards and in the streets, cheering, dancing, laughing, celebrating. On the highway, drivers were honking and flashing their lights.

Down in Philly, though, the city had crews applying brake lubricant to the street sign and streetlight poles, to keep people from shinnying up.

Prost!

Listening to Hugh Hewitt's show now, he mentioned that Gronkowski has said he's not happy with the club in negotiations to stay. I suspect that that's the biggest factor of all.

Prost!

That game was painful to watch.

I thought for certain when Hogan made that TD in the 3rd the game was over- no way Philly holds in there in a shootout.

Absolutely no defense on either side- it was like watching an overpriced, overhyped arena game.

Why does the NFL insist on making the catch rules harder than they need to be. I truly believe if they back off on the technical nonsense minutia of what does and doesn't constitute a catch you would get away from a lot of the ticky tack PI calls. It really isn't rocket science- go back to fundamentals again and make it a game again, not a Supreme Court case.

And whoever told Collinsworth and Michaels it would be super cool to run around saying "ROP" 50,000 times in the game should be strung up. The drivel coming from those two morons with the ROP's and the constant updates everytime these guys completed a 4 yard pass was beyond annoying.

This game was the coup de grace on an otherwise just God-awful disaster of a football year. If the NFL Owners want nothing but a sideshow to generate revenue, toss Goodell and bring Vince McMahon in and watch the dollars roll in. Stop trying to call these antics "professional sports" and start calling them sports entertainment.

Lots of good points, Chris. Pinball football is just a joke. No defense, what is a catch?, ROP...give me a time machine so I can watch the NFL when it meant something other than pass, pass, pass, and pass some more. Brady passes for 500 yards and loses? The NFL has some severe problems and maybe a rollback of the offensive oriented rules is called for along with an overhaul for the review process. Go back to the fundamentals is right. This SB was entertaining, but it was not football, at least not as I grew up knowing it, and it hasn't been for at least a 15/20 years now. Oh well, everything changes but not always for the better. Just ask the NFL about it's ratings this past season. -- Al

That entire Patriots coaching staff should be apologizing to Brady this morning- How does your all world QB throw for 505 yards and no interceptions AND YOU LOSE?

Whoever the rocket scientist was that dialed up that reverse on the return with 42 ticks on the clock should be denied admittance on the team bus for the return trip. You've got a HOF QB with more SB experience than anyone on the planet waiting to get on the field and you dial up a REVERSE on your own 9 IN THE CENTER OF THE FIELD????? ^&confuse:confused::redface2: I could have asked my entire middle school FB team what the call is in that situation- ball kicked left, you wall left and take it north to go out of bounds- and vice versa if it goes right. Putting the ball in Brady's hands even for 6-8 more seconds would be far far more productive than whatever they were trying to do with that.

I will give Collinsworth this, Brady did look out of synch- and still threw for 505 yards. I don't know if Patricia was too distracted with this Lions gig or what but that defense looked flat as a board.

To me it looked like the offensive lines dominated the defensive lines of both teams and did not appear to tire until half way through the 4th quarter.

The strangest look was two missed PAT and so many futile attempts at 2 point PATs.

Brad...I don't mind a little celebrating...or even a lot of celebrating...and to their credit...I heard no reports of smashed windows and saw no pictures of people walking down the street with 60" televisions on their shoulders...all in all...it seemed pretty civil to some I have seen...can't blame the fans for getting excited...it's those one or two clowns in the crowd that can throw a harmless celebration into a tizzy...
