I,ve said this before and I,ll say it again the guy in Chicago with the crowd cheering is the absolute best. Also like when on the video screen Kate Smith sings God Bless America in Philadelphia

Jazz, thank goodness we can still be buds over hockey..How about dem Rangers? ^&grin Michael

Some pretty good games this past weekend. Ottawa got jobbed by the refs. Imagine playing an entire season of hockey and getting knocked out when the refs waive off a clear goal by blowing the whistle too soon. Just an awful, game deciding call in a game that ends 1-0. The commentators indicated the refs were blowing the whistle quick to protect Price because he was an MVP. The ref clearly knew he blew it. Hopefully he doesn't live in the Ottawa area. Nashville chokes away a 3-1 lead in Chicago to get a quick exit. Rinne is supposed to be one of the best goalies in hockey, but he didn't show it with everything on the line. Like Price in Montreal, if you get a lead on the road you have to find a way to hang on. Chicago and Minnesota will be an interesting series. Caps and Isles game 7 tonight. I like the Caps at home, but they have a long tradition of coming up short.

It,s come to where I wish the Blues wouldn,t even make the playoffs than loose year after year in the first round. It just confounds me that on paper St Louis has to rank in the top 3 yet every years it,s the same.
Devan Dubynk, 2 years from now he will be playing in a beer league, but for one game in this series, there was no one better.
Oh the humanity!
Gary

The Caps are 3-9 in Game 7, including 2-7 at home. You would think their luck would change at some point. Hopefully not this year.

Great game tonight, Smoltzy and the Caps advance to the next round.

The Isles looked like they were out of gas. They had something like only 11 shots on goal for the entire game. The Caps should have won easily but it was tight until the end. It would have been a major crusher to lose a game like that at home. The Rangers didn't impress me much playing a Pens team that was in free fall at the end of the season. Interested to see if the Caps have enough left to make it a series.

Fresh off my Nostradamus-like picks for round one, we move on:

Anaheim 4 Calgary 2 - The Ducks are the only top four team in the west to move on. Calgary has played out their cinderella story. They win one or two at home, but the Ducks win the series.

Chicago 4 Minnesota 3 - The Wild are playing as well as aynone. This could go either way, but the Hawks have home ice where they are tough. Also a ton of playoff experience. If it goes six, the Wild win. If it goes seven, the Hawks win.

NYR 4 Washington 2 - The first round series took a lot out of the Caps. The Rangers didn't play great against the Pens though. Their speed, home ice and the short first round series favor the Rangers. I like the toughness of the Caps though. Something they have missed in past years. So they have a shot.

Montreal 4 Tampa 2 - Tamps is lucky to have gotten past the Red Wings. They are probably content with that. Montreal plays a solid game. They are near unbeatable when Price is on.

Not surprised by last night's results. Glad they made a series out of it but I think the Wings realized that golf courses are better this time of year in Tampa than back in Detroit so they just stayed.
I think your predictions are pretty good Combat. I'd like to see Washington pull an upset over the Rangers though.

The West truly is a brutal conference; three of the top four teams get bounced in the first round, while all four of the top seeds in the East move on.

Detroit gagged away that series, what a shame, that had it won, now those rabid, die hard Tampa
Bay Rays/Devil Rays/whatever they are called fans get to celebrate.

The price tags hanging off of their fan gear is a classic look too; if they lose, back to the store the stuff goes.

I agree with all of your predictions, although I am pulling for Washington; a conference final of New York/Montreal will be unwatchable, one will win and one will move on, truly a lose/win situation for me..................

I'm actually pulling for every team that I picked to lose. Even Tampa. So 0-4 on the picks would be great. With my Kings on vacation, I mostly can watch to pass the time without really caring though. I'm pulling as much against some of the remaining teams as for anyone. Chicago really gets under my skin for some reason. Would like to see Minnesota take them to the woodshed. I was nose to nose with Grubauer last night sitting in the front row of the Hershey Bears game. He is going back and forth to the Caps as their backup goalie. Whoever had been the backup there (Peters") must really be in the doghouse or hurt since Grubauer spent most of the year in the AHL.

What a win by the Capitals; thought for sure once the Rangers scored towards the end of the game, they'd win it in OT, but not so fast.

If Ovechkin plays like that all series long, the Rangers are toast.

That's the type of game the Caps are notorious for losing. Perhaps this is a good omen. -- Al

Yes, that's what I thought as well. Particulary coming off a seven game series the last thing they wanted was an OT game. When they gave up that late goal they should have been toast. Huge win for them. They are a better coached and tougher team this year. Ovechkin has a laser beam when he gets a clear shot. The Rangers had a short series with the Pens but those games were close and the Pens ended the season in complete collapse. So it was not exactly an impressive performance.

I'm suprised to see Tampa thumping Montreal. That will be a major upset if it continues.

The sooner those cheap shot, whiny, diving, cry babies get bounced, the better...................

Is there a bigger mismatch than Anaheim and Calgary? The Ducks look like they are skating a men's rec-league team.

Calgary is a different team at home. They probably win one or two games in the series, but it has been a mismatch. I'm not a big fan of the Ducks. My interest in the west is quickly narrowing to which team I dislke more - the Ducks or Blackhawks. I'm pulling for Caps at this point ony because I see a lot of their players here in Hershey. And Ovi had earned a shot at the Cup. The guy is playing out of his mind. It's now or never for him.
