November dispatches are up (3 Viewers)

The good, bad and ugly of the November dispatch for me.

GOOD: The releases are mainly from lines I collect so the Bulge and Arnhem releases are of interest. My favourite pieces are "Help at Last" and "Sergeant Bill Fulton", spectacular issues! The Universal carrier is certainly an upgrade from my D-Day version however the D-Day version is still my sentimental favourite ( tracks aside ) because of the Mickey Mouse camo. The M-20 looks good. I'd be interested in a summer version for sure. The new ACW pieces have an old K&C charm to them, almost William Britain's like. Both flag bearers are standouts to me and I might get them just for ACW representation in my collection. There are a few retirements I've got to pick up. All in all a nice monthly dispatch. :cool:

BAD: I found this month's dispatch confusing as the Bulge pictures were not backed up by the same releases of U.S M.P. and German prisoners and one of the ACW flag bearers were mistakenly pictured as something else. On the set "Help at Last" I note that the wounded figure being carried does not have a camo smock. Is that an oversight on a demo model and to be corrected before mass production? Is he painted correctly? Did some Arnhem paras not have Dennison smocks? ^&confuse

UGLY: I'm still bitter and can't let it go that my favourite line (OMG) has been P'd on making the figures grossly overpriced despite the great look. "Help at Last" is $99! {eek3} I've paid less for AFV's in the not so distant past!

I like the new Civil War figures, however on what planet does this figure resemble Joshua Chamberlain ? K&C is usually spot on with their personality figures, but this one isn't even close. It's not like it is hard to find a picture of him.

I also don't think it looks like him. Perhaps it's the angle of the photo.

I'm loving these guys, they're superb. Great poses, colours and facial expressions and the gun-set and Bren Carrier are magic. All I have to do now is have a quiet word with Santa aka 'the wife' and meet all her wants and needs between now and the 25th.....{eek3}:wink2::tongue:{sm4}

I'm sure I'm not alone......??

Toddy, you better get the energy drinks into ya then! :wink2: You are not alone on this mate even though I don't have the "wife" factor to deal with! For me it's the M20, new MG's, Bren Gun Carrier, Howitzer, Jerry Field car and all the other WW2 figures. The ACW and ALH releases look brilliant as well but I drew my line in the sand many moons ago!

Tom

Brilliant bunch of figures, the ALH is of course the pick of them. I am so tempted to start collecting ACW...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! we will see. The paras are a close second and I reckon the A/Car bloke (standing) looks like Elvis after someone gave him a flat nose :rolleyes2:{sm3}
Wayne.

If you are going to start collecting ACW now is the time. You can buy them slowly around the other ranges you collect. I take it you will be getting the Market Garden figures and the Bren gun carrier? Do you have the 25 pounder or are you waiting for a desert one?

Jack

Marty, don't get Wayne started on the ACW, he will never be home and i'll never be able to get hold of him!!!{sm4}

Nice rooster as well mate!

This is the dilemma, I have always been interested in the ACW...but one can't just cherry pick such a subject, you have to have the whole shebang! which means whole firing lines of both sides, hundreds of figures in the end. Now that means big money so perhaps I'll just admire Bobs (uk reb) work and stick to my Great War collecting, oh and OMG and EA and D-DAY Tommies ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! see what I mean :wink2:{sm4}
PS. yes I have the 25 pounder (desert as well) and one more wouldn't hurt either :wink2:

Well maybe one of the manufacturers will release a line of cheaper figures made from an alternate material which will allow the purchase of multiples. I can't see it haapening though ... {sm4}

They have just been released. Three figures a month squeezed into your purchasing plan. It is a matter of being patient. That said, when next year rolls around those Great War figures are going to start appearing!

I love the ACW releases! I still need to pick up the other recent set of generals. Ugh...so much to want with so little money. :confused:

I might need more than energy drinks mate, I think a quick trip to the local Chinese Herbalist might be in order. If all else fails, then a nice feed of lightly battered Bluff Oysters might do the trick...:tongue:^&grin.

That 'camel set' from the ALH is really quite something and I've always had a soft spot for the ACW, but like you there's got to be a line in the sand. The only problem is my line keeps getting altered.

As for Jack's 'dodgy old rooster' avatar....I'm deeply disturbed{eek3}{sm4}

The fact you are deeply disturbed has never been open to question. It is only now that we have read so many of your posts that we are discussing its cause!{sm4}

Looks like a pretty close resemblance to me !

I was hoping for a wider release of US and/or British Bulge figures in battle poses. The Allies need reinforcements. Maybe some next month? Otherwise this year's Allied Bulge offering is pretty lackluster and isn't keeping pace w/ the Germans.
The Light Horse figures look great as do the Arnhem figures.

Hmm, I wonder who would win, Toddy's kiwi with a spear avatar up against Jack's rooster!!{sm2}{sm4}

Honestly I dont know why Andy even bothers with American Civil War..... But that's just my opinion.....

You've got to watch them roosters mate, you never know what they've got tucked up under them feathers.....I've heard the Aussie ones are the worst, they've had to learn to fight off dodgy Dingo's and over-enthusiastic KFC employee's.{eek3}^&grin

I think you've been yakking to me Mrs's Jack. She lovingly refers to me as the 'sick-perverted one' who, in her opinion is well overdue for some medical intervention^&grin......and what's more she's willing to pay{eek3}{sm5}

Opps, we're going off topic........

It seems we are now nitpicking about how many whiskers are in a mustache..^&confuse Michael

Michael, I am mostly WWII as far as my collecting interests but If I collected ACW I don't see what is wrong with this figure ! Like you say.......must be the whiskers {sm3}

So now we have gone from rivet counters to whisker counters?
