Pricing, where's your limit?? (1 Viewer)

Guess Mr. Reed must have not seen some of the prices some glossy like Trophy are getting these days. Don't think they sell those at Walmart, it's more like Saks Fifth Avenue.

When did Walmart start selling glossy toy soldiers. How did every forum member miss this important event.;)

Brian

Yes Brian, it's a bit of a news flash mate, but keep it under ya hat, sounds like MrREED's has some insider knowledge and let slip Walmart is now flicking off glossy's for between $20/25 a pop.....who would have thought...{eek3}{sm5}:wink2:

I am sure this will not sit well with everyone, but one of my favorite aspects of this hobby is that it is for the 'elite'.

I'd better check out my local Asda and see if they still have any Trophy Crimean War sets ^&grin^&grin

Cheers

Martyn:)

A bit of Oscar Wilde (The Importance of Being Earnest) to lighten the mood!

Never speak disrespectfully of Society, Algernon. Only people who can’t get into it do that.

Tom,
Would definitely be up there in terms of threads with most posts in quickest time. However the contribution of the Aussies (OK and the Kiwi's)
has certainly played a major part.

Yes, but you know who would have been there already {eek3}

Martyn is referring to auctions for some Crimean mounted figures, a couple of which went sold for $150 and up!

If Walmart has those, I'm off! Roadtrip!

Brad

I hear you. Only problem for me with the less expensive figures is that everyone and
his brother has the same thing . A production run of 10,000 or one of 150. I'll take
the 150 production run every time. Might as well shop at WalMart. Glad those $20-25
are available for you however.

Just returned from WallyWorld and lo and behold, the Little Legion, Hocker and Tedtoy shelves were bare ..... must have been a run on them before the most recent snow storm. I asked the manager when he expected more to come in, he informed me that four or five tractor-trailer's full were enroute as we spoke. Ah well, better luck next time ..... for now I'll just have go down to the basement and admire some of the strictly limited edition 1 of 10,000 figures that I've been fortunate to acquire. :rolleyes2::wink2:^&grin

I managed to pick up a very rare Trophy Boer War Maxim gun set at my local Asda in Maybury, pictures to follow:cool:

Cheers

Brett, would this thread go down as the biggest discussion on a topic and if so, does Sammy win a prize! {sm4}

Tom

I'll take any new winter Pre-order First Legion Russkies, or a few retired K&C Civil War guys to keep it real:)...Sammy

I just picked up a Silk Road Elephant from Target. ^&grin

You did not because I got the last one and am converting it from glossy to matt. {eek3}^&grin

Besides - is the Windsor Target store even open yet. And don't tell me you drove to the ones in Dearborn or Lincoln Park. :rolleyes2:

To bad QVC doesn't have easy pay toy soldiers, I'd be all in...Sammy

Not on QVC, but I have it on a good source that those guys who sell coins on cable are going to start selling toy soldiers. The best part of it is that each set will be limited to 150 sets. The investment potential of these sets will be unlimited.{sm5}
