Joe, I agree. When I saw both the blanket and the head covering in person I couldn’t believe it! The other thing that really struck me were the patterns on the umbrella. I just can’t imagine the time and patience, and obviously the talent to paint like that

My understanding is that Thailand used to be Siam and Myanmar used to be Burma.

Yes Mate Thailand used to be Siam and Myanmar used to be Burma. I want to say is this Elephant is from the Siamese - Burmese War. But the uniform of the warrior is Burmese style uniform. You can see the image below the helmet and the shoulder armor is different. And then the umbrella also the Burmese style. You can refer the below image. And then the peacock is the sign of Royal Burmese Army and Garuda is for Siamese. Your elephant have the peacock. That why I mention that your Elephant is the Burmese War Elephant.

Chasbo,

It's a nice figure. It appears there are two versions of Corbulo. The one Aeroart's website has a blackened cuirass, greaves, and helmet. The cape and helmet crest are also black, and the baltea are white. There is figure up on ebay now with this configuration. But the prototype was painted like the figure shown here w/ no blackened articles, deep maroon/purple cape and crest, and brown baltea. I find the differences interesting and wonder if it was the artist's choice or if they are due to instruction. I think all the Corbulo's were painted by the same artist.

Have to say, one of the better pieces I've seen from Aeroart in a while.

I agree. This figure looks to be very well done. Didn't even know Corbulo was released. I like Joe's rendition better then the one on ebay and on their website. However, I still like the figure and had to order one.

Here's a Renaissance knight in ceremonial armor / dress featuring St. George and dispatched dragon flag based on painting by Carlo Crivelli (1472) by Vitaly Puzenko.

Superb painting

But I have never seen a Crivelli painting of such a knight
except for the man on the flag ; St Georges

if you ever want to enter this one in a figurine painting contest, you will have to enter it in " fantasy ",it will certainly run for gold

Best

Mirof,

I'm happy you like the figure!
I think a lot of Russian painted work has a bit of a fantasy component to it with much of it being more about art than historical accuracy.

Got mine today! I like the yours better but this one is still a pleasure to look at.

Joe,

It looks great! Thanks for sharing the photo. It's such an imposing yet beautiful figure. I really enjoy the intricate carving in the galea, cuirass, and greaves.

Here's a recent Samurai I picked up- very interesting painting on this one:
