"Refugees on the Road" (4 Viewers)

The refugees are a valuable addition for enhancing diorama's and are going to be popular additions and, we should expect more in the future. Their flexibility to be added to all fronts in the eto is something the hobby was missing.

What I can never understand is how these figures can evoke such emotion as 'disturbing' or other such comments and how one can make a distinction from civillian poses not being abused etc by military to wondering if concentration figures will be next?

Again, K&C bring much needed additions to the HOBBY

I think a couple of them would be good in a large scale train dio. Standing on a platform.

Good point Mitch.
These are realistic figures. If they are disturbing then what about figures that are actually shooting ?

The Civilian refugees are a stark reminder of the true costs of war, that being said they are great representations and I think they would look great on display and add realism to any Diorama.

Look like a load of Jew's packing up getting ready to be shipped to a concentration camp:(

Wow, really? Then don't use them in such a setting. I guess your glass is always half empty...:(

Steady on lads ;)

Great figures Andy, love the chap pulling the cart. They'd make a welcome addition to almost any European Dio....well done to you and the K&C team:D

I think they look perfect for a Dunkirk type scenario. They would look great mingled in with some of the FOB British troops trudging back to the beaches. With a backdrop of the ruined church and perhaps an ambulance trying to make its way through as well, you have a nice scene developing.

Seriously? Do we need all this back and forth. People can like and dislike whatever they wish, lets just leave it at that.

Wonder when someone will complain about SS photographers taking pictures of civillians being moved will happen??
Mitch

I think the figures are excellent but I think the photographers taking photos of them is something we could have done without, frankly, and not a very good idea. It's reminscent of the photos used for the Gestapo arrest scene a few years ago with a civilian being led away to be probably shot, another not well conceived photo idea in my view; we've been over that one so now need to reopen that one. Not that I know for sure, but the roads were clogged with refugees so I wonder how realistic that scene is anyway.

jazzeum.....

I am always interested in why people get so sensitive and serious about some of the releases in our hobby. I think we all see much worse in our day-to-day lives some, in person and some via news or other media related sources so, it is of great interest how some can veiw a set of figures civillian or, military and, link it with such atrocities. This was the point of my original comment as I could see the response coming.

I just cannot see why we 'could do without' the setting as for me it shows the versatility these sets can be used in. I guess, that for me I see the sets as neutral as it seems those who are finding the sets unpalitable are associating it with German atrocities and, if you were to dwell upon it this could easily be german refugee's escaping from the soviets or Poles or, another nation.

For me, especially, I think its important not to lose sight that this is a hooby which, replicates in miniature, man at his worst epitomized in war and, that atrocities happened on all sides to both military personel and civillians.

I think your right mate the photographers are in bad taste & find it odd how well dress they are for refugees

How's this for a suggestion? An immaculately dressed SS Officer holding his pistol to the shaven head of a malnourished child dressed in stripey pyjamas... not summat most of us have seen in every day life, so it should make a most interesting vignette?

This range is not something I would collect, but it's not as if Andy is holding a gun to our head to buy them either. The old adage still stands, buy what you like.

Harry, since you asked :

"How's this for a suggestion? An immaculately dressed SS Officer holding his pistol to the shaven head of a malnourished child dressed in stripey pyjamas... not summat most of us have seen in every day life, so it should make a most interesting vignette?"

I would give it a 0 / 10.

I find it strange that K&C come up with a good selection of civilians that can fit in with many dioramas and yet we get comments about executions and concentattion camps.

Regards
Brett
