Rom048 elephant crew (1 Viewer)

Have two on order, really nice. Looking forward to seeing the other version being a parade Elephant.
Robin.

Good one Robin, getting 2 Elephants, you will be able to put in another figure or two, if you don't want that archer.

I do not consider myself an expert. A conversation is often repetitive

Only somebody who considers himself an expert would think that a production schedule would be changed based on his thoughts.

Regarding conversations being repetitive you have certainly proved your point.

Taking a persons words out of context is a deceptive and deplorable tactic. Don't argue a point if you cannot do so honestly. Any production schedule can be modified in the interest of producing an accurate product. Slipping a schedule is far better than producing an inaccurate model or a defective product. Quality first!

Also true is if you don't like something feel free to pass on it

Zach is right, Let the people that like it, have the choice of owning it. and You can just pass on it. The Figure(s) looks great in our opinion. case closed. But, I got a feeling your not going to let this go Katana. Save the Money you set aside for this, and spend it on something else, that you think is perfect. But, let us enjoy our Bliss.

I am not sure what was dishonest about my post. It is obvious to all that you will only be satisfied with this elephant if it is changed to suit your liking. I think if TG was going to act on your repeated suggestions he would have let us know by now.

Even your reply "Any production schedule can be modified in the interest of producing an accurate product. Slipping a schedule is far better than producing an inaccurate model or a defective product. Quality first! " indicates that you think you know best. It has probably escaped your notice that the great majority in this thread do not see the need to change.

If TG will not alter the head would it be fair to assume that you will not be buying it ? Or is your strategy to keep repeating the same point in the hope that TG will change his mind even while they are being painted ? Or is the problem there are no new armoured releases around to satisfy your need to offer opinion ?

I can't believe this is still going on.My 2 cents, first it's a nice looking elephant ,second it is inaccurate.I have seen threads on here with people complaining about an armored piece even if a rivet is in the wrong place and they haven't been jumped on as much as Katana. He has every right to voice his opinion like everyone else does. TGM makes quality items but screwed up on this one. They should come on here and state whether they are going to fix it or leave it as is.Cool looking elephant though:rolleyes2:^&grin
Mark

agreed...and I'm buying it...no doubt about that...

I think the head is a little off...but again...I'm buying it...

would like to see TG's opinion on re-working it a bit and if they are going to physicallu address it...

hope they do...it looks like an easy fix...

but either way...I'm still buying it...

Thank you for all your comments guys its been great fun reading everybody's thoughts, mainly positive and a few negative. From what I can see just by typing into Google 'Indian Elephant' you will see a plethora of Indian elephants with foreheads and various protruding lumps and bumps just like ours and also as many elephants with not so pronounced lumps and bumps. It would seem elephants take on as many varied appearances as we humans do!
The long and short of it is that we will not be changing the elephant as it is already in production, and more importantly it fits in with our image of what an Indian elephant would look like. It may not fit in with everybody's view and that is fine with us but somehow we knew we were not going to please everybody on this project regardless.
There will be 150 made in 3 batches, doubtful we will make anymore because its a very difficult project to make to this standard and price (Around the $390 mark), but at the same time I am sure it will be a piece we will be remembered for, for a long long time to come. We are hoping those that buy it are extremely happy with their purchase and that it will take pride of place in many a collection.
The elephant debuts tomorrow in London at the TS show, drop by the Maison Militaire stand for a looksee and also the new Persian troops for the Spartan series, which I have to say are probably our best pieces to date.
For those of you interested the elephant weighs in at just over 3 Kilos and is of all metal construction.
Best wishes The Gunn Team

aeroart elephant 2.jpgaeroart elephant.jpg

Seems like Aerorart made a very similar looking elephant's head once upon a time, did they get it wrong as well?

Some images from the internet - all with a similar theme may I suggest? I think ours bears a pretty good likeness to some of these and we are very happy with the result, hope the majority of others think so.
Right time to go pack everything up for London, have a good weekend everybody and may I suggest we change the record and discuss something else?

Yes!

A post of a photo of a living Asian Elephant with the same cranial deformation as the TG prototype would resolve the question. I looked through hundreds of photos of Asian Elephants from a Google Image Search and I could not find a single example of of the TG Prototypes cranium.

Thank you for the answer to my question as to the material the Elephant is molded from. Metal is far superior to polystone as a material. I presume the metal is ZAMAK or a similar alloy?

Really you looked through hundreds of photos of Asian Elephants? The long winter nights must fly by in your household! I wish I had the time to scour the internet for hours looking at Asian Elephants heads, unfortunately I do not but in the 2 minutes I did have spare today I found plenty that bore a striking resemblance to ours, as well as an Aeroart model and have posted them on this thread.
I did suggest to the Gunn crew stopping off en route to London to have a chin wag with Sir David Attenborough about elephant cranium but nobody was remotely interested and quite frankly I can see why - fascinating as it must appear to some people.
I have a feeling that this is not going to be the last of it from certain quarters but .................... thank you everybody for your dialogue who participated, its been a pleasure and I bid you farewell.

Wow, pictures and a!l including an Aeroart piece being shown and still the beat goes on, again if still not convinced do not buy it.
I think He already pointed out and had his say, most like it others don't. So the people that do not. Are you trying to convince us that like it to not buy it?.... Nope!!, still buying it.
Again I wonder after all the pictures if its going to end.... I doubt it.... He wants to have the last say... Does anyone know what a person like that is called........ Right is the wrong answer..... Will the beat continue?? My guess is yep... There is the last word thing...

I am retired from a carrier in research and development. Research is hard to give up, as new knowledge is interesting, but time consuming as you point out. The photos you posted are much appreciated; however none show the cranial bulge pushed forward over the eyes as occurs in the TG prototype and which is the cranial condition in question. More research even though time consuming would have been beneficial in this instance; as I feel sure Sir Richard would certainly agree.
