speechless!
Maybe time to move on...you don't like it, we all know why, TG isn't changing it, we are buying it, you aren't. That's the summary of these multiple pages.
Now we can move on from this nonsense.

I am retired from a carrier in research and development. Research is hard to give up, as new knowledge is interesting, but time consuming as you point out. The photos you posted are much appreciated; however none show the cranial bulge pushed forward over the eyes as occurs in the TG prototype and which is the cranial condition in question. More research even though time consuming would have been beneficial in this instance; as I feel sure Sir Richard would certainly agree.

I am sorry and I really don't mean to be rude but are you even looking at the same elephant as we are? I see nothing squished over the eyes.

No offence taken to your comment. I have enjoyed the discussion and aside from a few derisive comments it has been very interesting. The market will decide the validity of the arguments pro and con.

The bulge of the Elephants head is too large and angles forward over the eyes. The profile is most unusual and atypical of Asian Elephant anatomy. I really wish I could like this sculpt; but it is so far outside what is normal for Asian Elephants that I cannot in all honesty.

I did not realise in my earlier comments that production was so far advanced and that recovery from the error was not an option. I had hope that it could be corrected. Other than the top of the head the sculpt is excellent. The figures are also very well done and I am sure the piece will sell well to those who are not concerned about the deformed head of the Elephant. I suppose it could be considered a poorly healed war wound from a previous engagement.

“Some new pictures of our Elephant and crew figures coming soon, there will be 2 versions with a fighting variant and also a parade variant “

Did anyone even look at this link, or perhaps it is Scotch mist ! If that doesn't end the argument then I don't know what would.

Yep. Saw it. Liked it. Thought it was the barbecue-stopper. And was then amazed. But perhaps when studying Roman history, one would do well to remember: First, it is ancient history and the elephants, like the humans, are not the ones we see today; and second, the Romans left us with political ideology, that curious time waster that is so devoid of fact and long on emotional one-upmanship. Look what that did to Rome!
Well done TGM for the brave step. 3 kilograms, wow! 150 pieces, almost a half tonne of metal - the postal service will love you guys :salute:: Around $390? They will make a very classy but practical set of bookends - I'm with Robin; two are required.

Time to give it up. TGM has proved it"s point IMO.I have never seen an elephant like that.Cool looking elephant.:rolleyes2:^&grin

I hope someone makes a woolly mammouth with cavewomen (Sophia Loren) riding it.I'll definatly buy that!^&grin

There will be 150 made in 3 batches, doubtful we will make anymore because its a very difficult project to make to this standard and price (Around the $390 mark),
For those of you interested the elephant weighs in at just over 3 Kilos and is of all metal construction.
Best wishes The Gunn Team

Question for TG...

I understand the cost will be around $390.00...

does this include the driver and archer pictured in the prototype?

thanks...

also please...

another question for TG...

just weighed my Collector's Showcase Roman elephant with single figure of driver straddling his neck...

it's about 1 pound 10 ounces...made of resin...

your elephant is over 3 kilos...all metal construction...

that's about 7 pounds...

I gotta ask...

why solid metal construction and not resin please?

to ship that must cost a ton?

just curious...not fussing...I'm still getting it...

Really you looked through hundreds of photos of Asian Elephants? The long winter nights must fly by in your household! I wish I had the time to scour the internet for hours looking at Asian Elephants heads, unfortunately I do not but in the 2 minutes I did have spare today I found plenty that bore a striking resemblance to ours, as well as an Aeroart model and have posted them on this thread.
I did suggest to the Gunn crew stopping off en route to London to have a chin wag with Sir David Attenborough about elephant cranium but nobody was remotely interested and quite frankly I can see why - fascinating as it must appear to some people.
I have a feeling that this is not going to be the last of it from certain quarters but .................... thank you everybody for your dialogue who participated, its been a pleasure and I bid you farewell.

Ha Ha.....what a shame your company apparently only spent "Two minutes" researching the correct sizing of your WW2 military vehicle models. Your WW2 figures are known for being too large compared to the vehicles. Of course there are many collectors that would not have noticed the sizing difference, or didn't care that much and purchased the models anyway. That doesn't change the fact the wrong decision was made! Similar problem with your expensive Elephant with a "special head". The model will sell ok, but would have achieved better sales if more effort was put into research.

Were you in the discussion when I predicted a price tag of $395? I have managed to impress myself ... not an easy thing to do!

Do you have sufficient trunk space for two?

Unless I am blind, the photos of all the various elephants are more than close enough if not identical to my eye to the TG piece, seriously what are some not seeing? ALso, did you ever stop to think that during the movement of an Elephant carrying a howdah and people that the skin may move in transit??? They do have loose skin like most mammals. I know when I walk my skin shifts, since the elephant is moving, could it not be that the skin shifting is at its height? I can't believe I just wasted 2 minutes posting this, it is 2 minutes I will never get back.

This is rivet counting at its finest or should I say elephant eye bulge/head bulge measurements? REALLY? Ridiculous. The elephant looks great, I am getting it and I want to make sure how many versions so that I have all of them!

Check please!

TD

Yeah that's it, he hasn't got a really ugly head, it's just his loose skin moving about when he runs ^&grin
