The British Empire (3 Viewers)

The orders seem to be coming in fast and furious now Konrad. Very exciting stuff. I really like the mounted figure a lot. Great looking sculpt with a very pleasing finish as usual from John. Sounds like you are not done showing us your new stuff yet???? :smile2:

That's right, Dave, one more to show :smile2:
I post it anyway right now, even when not being sure about the correct regiment and time for this officer. Maybe somebody has a guess or suggestion.
Will look in the books I have, to see if I can figure it out before getting the info from John. Here he is.

Three more treasures to add to your amazing collection Konrad. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I got the info on the British Officer, shown below, now. He depicts an Officer of the Royal 1st Devon Yeomanry in Walking Out Dress, 1905. 54mm casting by Squadron.

While doing photos of the new items today, I thought I make an overview of what my "British Empire" collection consists so far. Here are two photos of what I got until now. These are from all the single figures, mounted and on foot.

A collection to be proud of for sure Konrad, all are very special but mine two favourites have to be in the first picture, top figure on the white horse (great pose for the horse) and also the lancer on the bottom.

Thats a handsom display, I realy like the clear stands. And ofcourse the figures!:D

Martin

The last new guy looks great. Feisty looking little man with a cig.

And the whole collection on those display shelves you've been using looks amazing.
I am really impressed with the mounted collection in particular. My favorite is still the Dr Brydon (?) figure straggling in from the massacre.

Thank you, Scott, Martin and Dave.
These lucite or acrylic risers are really good to use for displaying single figures. They don't take away from the view and they don't take away any light when you use a lighted curio cabinet.
As of a favorite figure, I actually gave up picking one ^&grin. I don't think there is one that I like less then any other.
Konrad

I have to tell you, I have never seen glossy figures even close to as well painted as John paints them. I recently asked John to paint me an RAF pilot and to try to find some Royal Flying Corps groundcrew/mechanics castings to paint for me. ^&cool^&cool

Thanks, Louis,
I am very much looking forward to read your opinion after you received your first figure painted in Superior Gloss by John Firth.

Hi Konrad,

I am ever so impressed with your growing collection of superb British Empire figures with the neat display stands.

Thanks, Raymond:salute::

Beautiful additions to your collection Konrad

Cheers

Martyn:)

Those pictures of your collection of John's painted figures on stands, Konrad - are simply the best display of Toy Soldier figures that I have ever seen. They are just stunning!

Thanks so much for sharing them with us all. johnnybach

No new figures yet tonight for the British Empire collection, but finally I am able to display them in an appropriate cabinet. Found this curio at our local Sam's Club and am very happy with it. There are 4 adjustable glass shelves, very sturdy, thick glass and a good size too. The dimensions for the shelves are 28" wide by 13" deep and they are rated to hold up to 80 lbs each. That will hold a lot of figures without having to worry about the weight :)
Comes for a great price too. $299.00 + tax actually leaves some money to buy more figures to put in there ^&grin.
And most important, at long last I now have the space to display the AZW Gun Team behind glass.
Here are some pics. Plenty space for additional figures and I am looking forward to display them.

How does one top "stunning". Put them in a very appropriate cabinet - that's how!
You have impeccable taste Konrad - well done - they look absolutely at home in there. Now, what's going in there next:confused.....Hmmmmmm.....johnnybach :salute::

Thanks Mark, Louis, Joe and Johnny,
the collection looks even better now ^&grin
By the way, Johnny, thanks for mentioning Richard Simkin in on of your posts. After reading it I went for a search and got two books by now from him.
One is "Uniforms of the British Army, The Cavalry Regiments" and the other one is " British Yeomanry Uniforms". Beautiful prints in both of them and a great support for my collection.
Konrad

Also look out for the "brother" book of the Cavalry Regiments, Konrad.

"Richard Simkin's Uniforms of the British Army: the Infantry Regiments" - also by Bill Carman (1985) - and featuring that wonderful Victorian illustrator, Richard Simkin.

I'm currently using this one as a guide for my Gordon Highlanders (1865) painting project. Just like the Cavalry book - but for the infantry. Literally, hundreds of superbly colourful water-colour prints in each book.

Happy reading, and glad you love 'em too...........johnnybach:salute::
