WOW ,
GREAT SHOTS ..........just perfect in all aspects .. Thanks for taking the time to share {bravo}} Joe The photo's of your Dio's are one of the main reasons TF is such a nice place to visit IMO .. Regards Gebhard

Joe, I missed your most recent series of photos of your Rome collection. Glad I spotted it this afternoon. Perhaps the next Rome offering will be the Cavalry figure that is shown on the FL web site banner . . . .
:smile2: Mike

Thank you everyone for the kind comments. The "Glory of Rome" line is still my absolute favorite line produced by FL. Many FL lines have caught my attention but their Romans are the best (IMO). I hope to see this line grow in a very big way.

Like picking a favorite child... not easy at best :wink2: at least IMO . I would really love to see some Mounted Germanic warriors , I'd even be very happy with some Roman Auxiliary Cavalry {bravo}} and of Course mounted Romans would also be very cool and i think a safe bet . Regards Gebhard

Sorry Mr. Adandana to intrude on your thread but it influenzed or however you spell that word. I finally broke and glad i did just
Recieved some romans. All I can say is TITTS!!!! thats it BLOWN AWAY!!!!! :p:p:p

I really don't mean this to be annoying, but I was always under the impression that it was incorrect to refer to the troops of a Roman Legion as legionnaires. That is unless you were speaking French.

I was taught (and read) that legionnaire refers to the men of the French Foreign Legion, and that the correct term for the Roman Legion's soldier is legionary.

I know the two are used as synonyms quite a bit in colloquial language, but am I correct in the distinction above?

Again, this is not a big deal, but was wondering if the folks in this forum know something I don't.

Thanks nysoldiers. Not trying to be pedantic, but just clarify for myself.

New to collecting Romans and reading through this thread to catch up.

Hi Joe . . . . Great looking photo of your new arrivals. I haven't decided yet wether I am going to collect these, but photos like yours certainly makes them tempting. I am trying to hold out for the release of FL AWI 22nd Foot figures . . . . All the best . . . .

Nice picture Joe, that is a superb setting you've got them in, they look great all set up like that, thanks for taking the time to post..........

Thanks for the nice comments guys. Just tinkering around with that clone stamp feature Frank was talking about. As you can see I need some practice with it. I think if I took the shot at a different angle then it would have been easier to use. The brush size was way to big so I need to figure out how to make it smaller and it looks a little odd to me. almost as though they are walking through mist.

Joe, I can tell you happy with the new Praetorians. Your first efforts with the picture effects isn't bad in my opinion and I really like the concept you have going in this pic.

Also, I appreciate the book suggestions a couple weeks back. I have one of Goldworthy's books on order.

Yes, I am really pleased with the praetorians. They appear to be pretty well done to me. I like how they distinguished between a praetorian standard bearer and a standard bearer from one of the legions by replacing the bearskin capes with lionskin capes. I also like the fact that "Victoria" is on their standard which is a must when it comes to praetorians. Their shields were a tad more rounded then those used by the legions and it was believed that they bore the thunderbolt and winged emblem as well. The segmented armor is right on for the time period FL was shooting for since they didn't go to scale armor until sometime after 210AD. Not sure if the purple would be the color worn but it was definitely recognized as a imperial color. Overall I'm pleased with the outcome.

Thanks for the nice comments on the photo. Once I get my bigger diorama done I'll take another crack at the clone stamping. Which Goldworthy book did you go with? All the ones I have read have been good so it shouldn't disappoint.
