I live in a condominium complex, 68 townhouse condos laid out in blocks of 4, we're in a middle unit, about 3,000 square feet.
We have two large dumpsters and about a dozen recycle barrels, they are labeled 6 plastic, 6 cardboard, it's clear, as in crystal, that you are NOT to throw furniture and other large items in the dumpster, just bags of trash and smallish household items.
But that does not stop some moron from trying to jam a couch, fridge or grand piano in there, we've got a guy who comes here and picks up large items for short money, but again, it amazes me what morons here attempt to stuff into the dumpsters.
They installed cameras down there and anytime there is a huge item in the dumpster, they review the tape and nail the imbecile with a 100.00 fine, then they drop the item off on their doorstep for them to properly dispose of it.
Getting rid of an old mattress is almost impossible. Some guy I know had the bright idea to burn his. He said it went up in flames like the end of times. He vowed to never smoke in bed after that experience. They had the bright idea a few years ago here in PA to designate a day of the year when you could put anything out for pickup. You would pass homes with mountains of old furniture and stuff piled up on the lawns. It would sit there for weeks because the trucks didn't have enough room to pick it all up from neighborhoods. What a sight after a few weeks sitting in the elements.
