Things that annoy me (3 Viewers)

On his radio show this past Saturday morning, James Golden (aka Bo Snerdley) made an interesting prediction: when the bridge is rebuilt, the Left will demand renaming it, because Key was a slave owner and defended slave owners in court. Though Golden also pointed out that Key defended slaves in court cases.

First, we have to get the bridge rebuilt. I saw the earlier posts on that specific topic, and my own prediction is ten years, at least. And that while considering that the original full span was built in five. But there were giants in those days...

Prost!

The strangest thing that I've learned from this event is that the musician Thomas Dolby ("She Blinded Me with Science") lives in Baltimore and is a professor at John Hopkins. He posted a picture of the bridge from his home. I'm confident that the bridge will be rebuilt quickly but at about ten times the actual cost due to corruption, incompetence, and political influence. In fact, the politicians are falling all over themselves to pay for it. Access and control of the money is a powerful political tool. That's why we have had endless wars for the past seventy years and counting.

Nail on head, they will rename the bridge, already clamoring here to do it. Just crap.

The fact that companies are making plastic caps on milk containers etc. smaller and smaller to the point that you cannot turn them!!!

The Dodger fan who caught Ohtani's first HR ball for them is upset because she claims security coerced her into giving up the ball. She apparently wanted a big payoff even though I don't believe the ball technically belongs to her just because she caught it. Instead the Dodgers gave her some autographed items. Everyone is a victim. I'm sure the Dodgers will "apologize" and give her something to avoid the bad press.

The best part of the story is the Dodgers separating the fan who caught the ball from her husband during an “interrogation”.

The next best part is Ohtani saying he met with the fan who caught the ball, only to have that information clarified as being incorrectly interpreted by his official interpreter.

Vegas put the odds at 5 to 1 that the interpreter got the story wrong.

The hype surrounding the forthcoming solar eclipse.

It's been unreal. Here in PA some schools are even closed. The kids must be pinching themselves that adults have become so stupid. They will spend the entire day on video games. And to add to the circus there is pretty thick cloud cover here this morning. Which means the whole thing is a bust.

Traffic seems to have gotten much worse despite a large number of folks now working from home. And there are more aggressive drivers than I can remember from past years. That appears to be supported by the record numbers of traffic fatalities. I routinely see people driving 20 MPH or more above the speed limit on side roads. People rocketing through school zones with the flashing lights on telling drivers to slow down. Saw a woman pass a school bus that had stopped to pick up a kid and had its flashing lights on. I would never let my kid walk across a road to get on the bus these days trusting cars to stop and not run them down.

Great actors who have destroyed their reputations by taking too many crappy roles and appearing in too many lousy movies. Nicolas Cage, Samual Jackson, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Malcom McDowell, Anthony Hopkins...

It does seem that way, however I guess some actors just like to act, they see an interesting role and do it despite low budget etc. Also noted some doing minor roles as favors for directors, friends etc.

The college football transfer portal. This is destroying the game. There should be some flexibility for players to change schools but over 1,200 players entered the winter portal. Players are coming and leaving before even playing a single game. Unfortunately, the fix is likely some professional type free agent contract that requires players to stay for some specified period of time. Further eroding what little is left of the "amateur" status of college football.
