Things that I really like (2 Viewers)

The refs calling not one, not two, but three personal fouls on UCLA during the halftime break. Resulting in UCLA kicking off the second half from their own 5-yard line. Of course, USC still couldn't convert it into any points but I've never seen that before. An ugly win for USC but winning ugly is still winning. I'll take it.

Not traveling over the holidays. It's brutal to watch the chaos at the airports and on the roads. Some genius here decided that this last weekend would be good time to start paving the interstate. Traffic was backed up for endless miles. Maybe they had unspent "COVID" money and need to spend it before Jan. 20.

Believe it or not, the West Side of I695 has been consistently under construction for the last 22 plus years. No Joke and the worst part is, the most timely issue on the highway is this triple bridge monstrosity at Security Blvd............................it has never been addressed due to funding. Uh, common sense question - how much has been spent in 22 years that has done nothing but slow down traffic.............................My "Einstein IQ" tells me that I am sure it is more than the bridge problem would have cost to fix..........................stupidity.

It's a crazy time of the year everywhere, I avoid travel and even trips to the local shops as they're crowded with people in a hurry that can't drive.

The upside to the Festive season in Australia is that it's Summer here now, so snow isn't a problem. Well, snow is rarely a problem anywhere in Australia, except maybe in our Southern Highlands, which aren't very high ;)

I was a bit shocked when my oldest son recently announced he and his girlfriend were touring Japan this December/January, which breaks a family tradition but apparently travel is cheaper there during the Winter holiday season. And what's the recent popularity of Japan, it seems like a lot more Aussies now prefer that country to South East Asia, the recent deaths in Laos from alcohol poisoning can only make South East Asia less attractive to tourists.

The DC area traffic is horrific. I used to work in DC but it was brutal to commute. It's the same in every large city, though. When I retire, it will be to some place like New Mexico where the weather is decent and there is not much traffic.

Left DC on an early Sunday morning at the end of a vacation several yrs ago. Traffic was stop and go even then, and we were on the outskirts. :(

An interstate interchange in Louisville has been under construction for the last couple of yrs. The on and off ramps were completely relocated and are still only one lane after all that, and traffic still backed up. What exactly was the point of all that?

House Speaker Mike Johnson condemning the recent bomb threats targeting democrats.

Now the democrats need to step up and condemn the bomb threats and swatting that has targeted recent Trump nominees.

Good news for our friends in the UK "British Museum announced on November 13 the biggest gift of art in its history, and it was founded in 1753. It’s 1,700 pieces of Chinese porcelain from the tenth to the 18th centuries, much of them imperial porcelain sold by the last lot of Chinese rulers as they gradually went broke. Percival David, whose father founded the Bank of India, assembled the collection from the Teens to his death in 1964."

And not so good news "The British Museum could use some good news. It’s still burdened with the shameful theft by, it’s thought, one of its curators of around 2,000 ancient and medieval seals and ornaments made from gems and precious stones. Many were sold on eBay. Bit by bit, the museum is finding where they went and getting them back" Must have taken yrs to pull that off. May make a great movie one day. :(

Think the governors of the BM forgot that the UK has moved in recent years from a high trust society to a low trust society. Mmmm, I wonder what happened ! 🤔 😖

There is a push to allow the Washington Deadskins to use their old logo. That logo was created by a Native American but condemned by various woke types as being racist. It amazes me when white, elitists decide that something is objectionable over the protests of the very group they are trying to "protect." Talk about racist. I went to a recent book signing relating to the life of Jim Thorpe. There was a great deal of condemnation by the author of the "Indian school" in Carlisle where Thorpe was sent by his father. Apparently, that school was racist for trying to house and educate young Native Americans who came from poverty. When asked about Thorpe's own opinion of that experience, the author acknowledged that Thorpe indicated it was the happiest time of his life.

Some people just don't know to keep their noses out of issues that don't concern them.

The Daniel Penny acquittal, he was the subway rider who restrained the idiot acting a fool and threatening people on the NY subway.
He should not have been charged in the first place but at least this jury got it right.

Yes, a rare good day for our justice system. Also kudos to that McDonald's employee who broke the NYC CEO shooting case by identifying the shooter.

Never should have been charged to begin with, Bragg is a complete disgrace, some BLM loon inside the courtroom threatened Penny then went on a rant outside the courtroom..........

Once again playing the race card; this case had NOTHING to do with race, so stop with this BS already.

Yes, the family of the guy who died is suddenly showing some interest in him when there is lawsuit money on the table. Where were they when he was struggling with mental illness and substance abuse? I think they said the guy had been arrested almost 50 times and there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The family wasn't giving press conferences or getting angry about all the victims of his crimes. I do feel bad for them that they lost a family member but no one is to blame but themselves. No one on the subway should have to feel threatened by an unhinged maniac.

Customer service reps who do their job and go above and beyond to assist.

I went to the XFinity/Comcast store to upgrade our cable package and also update them on my CC info; while doing so, the person who waited on me says "Oh gee, your modem is old, you need a new one"..................the speed is fine, it never gives us any problems, plus we've got a router attached to it, I work from home on some days, as does my better half, so internet connection is super important, the person then hands me a modem and says "You need to install the App, download the instructions and follow the process, it "shouldn't" take too long............

Yeah, no.

I told her have come clunk come to my house and install it, that's your job, not mine.

She schedules the appointment, then I get a text "We ran a courtesy diagnostic on your system, everything is working fine, if you wish to cancel your appointment, reply with X."

Are you ****ting me or what? When I got home, I called XFinity, got a girl on the phone who said "If you got that text and I see it now, your system is fine, I HIGHLY recommend you DO NOT swap out the modem, ESPECIALLY if you have a router attached as we've been getting calls from people who are having issues with their internet service after swapping out the modem."

Appointment cancelled, we're good mostly thanks to this girl for speaking up..............as the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Comcast has great customer service since their customers started fleeing like the end of times. I've been a customer for over 20 years and they send someone out within 24 hours whenever there is a problem. Try calling the airlines or anyone else on a customer service line. It's hopeless.
