True Detective (1 Viewer)

I'm having a hard time getting into True Detective...
it seems un-Godly slow to me...
I will continue with it and hope the action improves...

I did catch the first 2 episodes of The Brink and thought it was hilarious...
Tim Robbins is hysterical...
the only thing I don't like is that the episodes are too short...

Well after the end of episode 2 hard to see that coming ^&cool

Cheers

I think the whole Russian connection is setting up to be a feint. That seems too obvious. My guess is that plot circles back to some group of women's abuse survivors taking out their revenge. That woman in the secretary role is suspicious.

This show was moving kind of slow but Ep.4 sure put that problem to rest over the last 10 minutes. The show was beginning to lose me but my interest has been reawakened. Hope they can keep the pace up a bit more now. -- Al

Yes, the shoot out was great. Like something out of the Wild West. Otherwise dragging a bit.

You both got that right :salute::

Last night I saw the announcement that there only 3 episodes left. Hadn't realized we were that far into the season. Still having a bit of trouble sorting this all out but it is keeping my interest simply because it is so much work keeping up with what is happening. -- Al

Rick Springfield took a beating this week. They seem headed in a blackmail direction which means of course that the motive wasn't blackmail. I'm still leaning toward some female or group of women seeking revenge on the men who exploited them. There is the missing girl, the sister, and the secretary type as candidates. I like Vince Vaughn but his character is wearing me out shaking down people and staring at the ceiling. I think we get the point. He needs money.

Rick Springfield looks absolutely terrible; he must have gone to the same butcher as Mickey Roarke did, what a hack job.

I'm done with this series; I've been away at a show and just watched the latest episode.

My head is spinning, I can't keep names strait or have any clue as to what is actually going on.

I'm thoroughly confused..................they never should have called this True Detective, just named it something else as the first go round puts this hot mess to shame...........................

Watched the latest last night. Yes, it's a bit confusing, but only three more episodes so might as well finish it out.

Separately, my son and I have been watching Ballers and the Brink and have to say they're a good watch.

Really love the Brink.

Agree on brink and ballers. Unfortunately true detective is a true bore and comes on first.

The frustrating thing with this season is that for every great scene there is a silly one. The mission impossible raid on the sex orgy was unbelievable and unnecessary. But scenes like Ray negotiating with his wife to give up custody of his son were dead on.

Despite all the average review I will give it a try...thanks for the heads up wrt expectations...I really liked Season 1 but I understand that they did set the bar high with that one.

Last night's episode, (next to last episode), was a good one. Lots of stuff happening to each character (mostly bad stuff) and everything building to the final episode, as one would expect. -- Al

Al and I may be the last men standing on this season given the drop off in the discussion here. I just realized the theme song is a Leonard Cohen song. It's amazing that there is so much good music that never gets played on the radio. Even on satellite radio. Supposedly it changes from week to week with the conspiracy theorists seeing clues in the lyrics selected for that episode. One more episode to go. I'm still putting my money on the secretary from earlier in the show. Apparently - spoiler from this week - she might be the daughter of the jewelry store owners who were killed by the police who robbed the store during the LA riots. Or maybe not. I haven't spied anyone on a lawn mower who looks suspicious so I'm going with that.

True Detectives...

I gave it a shot...

after 3 episodes I had no idea what was going on and thought it too boring to re-watch and figure out...

with Humans...Ray Donovan...The Break and Ballers on Sunday night...

can't say I miss it...

I gave up after the episode that followed the shoot out; so one character is no longer a cop, another got a promotion, another is working in the property room, I don't know anyones name, I'm confused, I give up.

I will say Vince Vaughn had one of the greatest lines I ever heard regarding Khe Sanh and standing in front of a tank, so he's got that going for him, which is nice.........
