It’s gets even better, I just bought the sash from a militaria dealer, so now the uniform and the doll will be a perfect match.

Your Prussian lieutenant reminds me of contemporary caricatures, Louis, that lampooned the typical Junker of the time, with that look-tall, thin, with a long face and nose. I've seen postcards and magazine illustrations with similar pictures. Some bore more than a passing resemblance to Crown Prince Willy, too.
Prost!
Brad
Here is the Zouave doll, the Zouave uniform, and the Zouave sash I just bought:It’s gets even better, I just bought the sash from a militaria dealer, so now the uniform and the doll will be a perfect match.
I found a few more of the old Steiff Postcards, real caricatures of the German and Austrian military:Brad,
There are German Postcards using Steiff dolls that are basically caricatures of the German military. At some point in the war Steiff actually got in trouble for the appearance of its dolls, and was forced to make them more accurately proportioned and less comical. Here's a Steiff postcard I found on line:
The old 1903 Steiff Sailor arrived, and is on display with a Harwin Sailor and an antique wax doll of a peg-legged sailor. They are displayed with some real 19th Century naval antiques.
I managed to pick up a real model 1899 Tunic and model 1889 Snowflake Vent Campaign Slouch Hat to display with the Steiff Spanish American War Soldier.I just picked up a Steiff Spanish American War U.S. soldier, in good condition:
