Why I'm not buying anymore 1/30 armour (2 Viewers)

There are already newer mfg. that are betting that you will pay $300 to $400:eek: a vehicle and $50 a standing figure, just to make you detailed happy:)...So be wary of what you moan about :mad:and wish for.....Michael

I Don't think you need to pay $400 to get a detail tank but if people will fall over backwards to pay that amount what company would turn them away ;)

I'm a bit confused with your stance on K & C Paul; if I am not mistaken, aren't you the same person who prattled on and on about how much of a great guy Andy was when you met him at the K & C meet and greet at The Hobby Bunker several months ago, Andy was kind enough to sign your P51 box, you thought he was a great guy.

Now you've done a 180 towards the company, ripping the company every chance you get; seriously, what gives here?

Tell you what; if anyone wants to unload their K & C collection, give me a call, I'll have no trouble finding a nice new home for them.

Yes...your not mistaken George, I like Andy, still do...never ripped him and wouldn't....Its the....one step foward...two steps backward company attitude that turned me.

Paul,
As always, thanks for the clarification, but please fill in the blanks by the one step forward, two steps back comment.

You and I have talked at the shows, I appreciate your comments, it's all helpful stuff for all of us to discuss things like this, so thanks in advance for your time and thoughts............

Whatever the reason I am interested in why someone would want his autograph????

I like the stuff they make but, with the greatest of respect to Andy I don't think it will be on the antiques road show selling for a mint in 100 years
Mitch

I wanted and have his autograph/signature on multiple items ranging from boxes, L/E certificates and sketches for example. Why you ask...I wanted the personal touch of an artist personalizing/signing his work and or items related to it. It makes it that much more special to me.

Hang Tough,
Marc

It's nice to have the personalized touch from one of the innovators in the industry; I rather doubt many of us would be collectors or whether this Forum would exist but for him. At the K & C dinner in Chicago the last couple of years Andy has given out copies of sketches and he signs for all who want them; usually everybody. I'm glad to have them personalized.

Its hard to say what the hobby would be like but for K&C looking back through the years its plodded along in its own little way and has been a constant no matter who has come and gone.

I am grateful to K&C no more or less than I am to any other makers in this hobby that I can say for fact. but, the other stuff is supposition and conjecture and, its impossible to say whether Peter and Shannon would have not started their business if one manufacturer had not been established or, any of the other outlets now making a living from the hobby.

I also wonder how many people on here or indeed around the world were collectors to one degree or other long before K&C started. I speak for myself that I was collecting what was out at the time and, from what has been said on here and in the hobby magazines many others were the same. Airfix, britains action man et al.

I now see what some state as some posts being like watching a train wreck. Though as always my comments were made in the most positive manner
Mitch

Have to agree with you Mitch. I hadn't even heard of K&C until I joined the forum so they haven't influenced me in my collecting. That being said I am sure they along with other manufacturers definitely have each pulled in new collectors because of their own unique ranges.

Taking nothing away from the glossies I think sets being made in matte has helped push this hobby.I had no interest whatsoever in collecting until the matte sets started coming out.

K&C is what brought me into the hobby in the 90's, just curiously crusing various catagories when Ebay was a new thing and it took 30 seconds to a minute to download a page.
Stumbled on someone selling some early matt sets and WHAM!! I was hooked instantly, started doing the research and have never found a better hobby.

That's true, I suspect there are a number of long term K & C collectors that would like to return to the good old days when tanks sets were $89. However, as I recently explained to an eBay customer about Airmail prices, they only get higher. Our choices are get used to paying the increases or get out, let's hope not too many get out.

This looks like a thread that will probably spiral out of control soon.

:D

Master of the understatement Brad, its as if somehow...you know whats going to happen!;):D

Do you think you can get more detail using polly stone ? or would it be cheaper to us a different material + get better detail for are money ?

I am obviously no expert in this area and have no knowledge involved in the manufacture of tanks but I believe a company like Figarti would say you can do more with metal than poly.

Again, a pure guess on my part as I don't know the dynamics of these materials.

I'm certain you can get more detail and finer detail with good strength with materials other than polystone, but they would be more expensive to make (for the material itself, for the manufacturing and painting the finer details). That is why Figarti and FL AFVs are more expensive than K&C.

Well Michael, that is the value of choice. I am pleased that we have someone to make us detail happy and I think it is fairly certain the choices for other options will remain. There is nothing much to be wary about in asking for what you want.:)
