Why I'm not buying anymore 1/30 armour (2 Viewers)

You're never going to get it the way you want it no matter what you do. If you are that adamant that you get what you want either do it yourself or find a modeler to do custom work who will tolerate you. Neither is an easy option.
For a start why do you have to make your post personal  "tolerate you"
For a start I have someone who does make models for me if you read the forum & it was him who said to me how poor he thought the K&C king tiger was for £220.00, yesterday I spent £280.00 on a 1/16 FOV king tiger tank & the detail on it will blow you away , so if they can do it for £280.00 why can't K&C:confused:or is it with people like you who will buy anything they don't need to ;)

I made it "personal" because the nature of your post is about what you intend to buy or no longer buy - your post premise is personal. Pretty simple.

If you have a modeler, great - terrific. If you feel that the 1/30 scale makers are sub par compared to another company producing in a different material with much larger production runs then that's fine too.

I won't just "buy anything" btw. My collection is varied, mostly historic (as in this item actually existed at the time this or that happened), in some cases it may have been there present and accounted for.

So, don't get all ruffled when somebody responds personally to a personal post. If you don't want your thoughts open for discussion or debate then don't post them :p. Just like buying a tank you feel is sub-par for $220 - don't buy it.

I can't speak to the latest K&C releases personally but I have heard they are a little lacking since HB ceased production on their tanks. Again, I haven't seen them personally, only what other some other collectors have expressed.

So try out Figarti. There's no shortage of stuff out there right now.

It the way your talking to me I don't like & if you spoke to me like that in public you would not get away with it :D
Do you talk down to your customers like

If you read the title of this read it is Why I'm not buying anymore 1/30 armour:eek:;)

I think uksubs makes some valid points about price and detail. If we want to look at all the 1/30 scale stuff out at the moment firstly, they are very pricey now, whether that is down to costings etc can IMO only go so far as an answer but, thats a point for discussion another time. There is no doubt that any of the main manufacturers of this scale at the moment make rickets its all about whether you are willing to accept them (some collectors of certain products do not do that) and pay the premium when one clearly knows they are not right. An example is the recent FW 190 issues which, were raised and I could go on.

Military modellers have for many years recreated accurate representations of their WWII stuff etc and, when the makers of these items have made errors modellers have 'scratch built their way around the problem until recently with more accuracy by the companies and, after market products like photo etch etc.

There is also little doubt that some manufacturers actually aspire to the plastic modellers detail in models moulded and painted its actually used in marketing and, one can see the importation of details merging into 1/30 scale products.

The difference now is that we are no longer talking about 'toys' in the sense of throw away products that were intended for children to while away the hours we are talking high end collectables and, as such, we are allowed to exact those standards at the cost.

A poster states he does not want to buy 1/30 scale stuff for the reasons stated and that is his right however, the expalnations regarding why have been mature and correct and, IMO should not be responded to in such a hostile and churlish manner. Its all about opinions and, respecting others views.

Every response on here is personal to a point as its a belief or a thought etc but, that does not mean we can or should belittle with quasi-superiority over that belief.
Just my thoughts

I am known for being pretty dang blunt. I don't see where I've been excessively rude or inconsiderate. My honest feeling is that some folks just need thicker skin - some folks just bruise way too easily.

Do I speak with my customers honestly? Do I give them my thoughts when they speak about something like this? Yes. And many, if not most appreciate my perspective. Those who don't don't. I am a human being, not a robot.

I did read your title and your post. Right, I got that and I responded.

Otherwise, I'm not defending any makers pricing structure. They can charge what they want and the market will decide whether or not it is justifiable.

My KT is the latest K & C version which will hold its value better than the FOV models - IMHO.

OzDigger....

Don't know what the large collectors FOV are like in aussie land but, over here they have become very rare and collectable commanding really high prices so, they may hold their value as equal as a K&C one.

I'm afraid your wrong as the last K&C king tiger you can still by in the shop for £220.00 but the FOV 1/16 king tiger are selling on ebay up to £750.00;)

UK Subs,

Is that really true? I think my son has one of those, which we stored away. For that price, I'm sure he'll gladly sell.

Any auction links?

Negotiating? Man, I'd sell that baby faster than you can say "cash will be fiine."

Jazzeum...

I am sure you would mate but, as I am buying I would like it a fair bit cheaper. I have offered him £500 and he is going to get back to me. As he bought at trade and got a couple in which, he did not sell I think thats a good price for all involved. I await his next move but, if he is greedy I will wait for another opportunity. But, back to uksubs point they do value well and, look the business.

Mitch,

I misread your post. Thought you were the seller. Yes, you definitely want to negotiate :D

Thanks for the link. I think what he has is the Ultimate Soldier version. Oh well. Good thing I never count my chickens till they're hatched :D

Ultimate Soldier did not make a king tiger ;):D
