"The Last Viking King," The true story of King Harald Hardrada by Don Hollway
A friend got it for X-Mas and will give it to me when he's done. He says it's very good, and he's a Viking/WW2 fan. More of a reader than an History buff.
We gave him the last 3 Cornwell Viking books for X-Mas so we're evens. Hope you enjoy - who isn't interested in Hardrada?!

I'm in a bit of a reading rut right now. I need to look at my reading wish list and pick something. On an area other than the hobby, I want to read St. Thomas Aquinas' "Summa Theologica". This might be a good time to take that out of the library.

Prost!

Impressive. I was forced to read half of it over Christmas break in High School (the other half was in class). Some interesting ideas but not exactly light reading...
Prost!

Reprint of the 1935 book, text is obiously "rather contemporary" but the 700+ graphics are really great and well worth the investment.

The second book in the Rick Atkinson Revolutionary War series is due to be released next week. At long last. He will also be on an extensive book tour if anyone is interested.

I've been eagerly awaiting this and glad it is finally hitting the publishing house.

I am on volume 3 of Shelby Foote’s “The Civil War” trilogy. I have to admit it has been tough sledding getting through his last volume. I have about 200 hundred pages to go. After this book I have some ScFi teed up.

On Democracies And Death Cults by Douglas Murray.

I am also reading this book and like my friends, Mark and Desert Kiwi, agree it’s a very powerful and grim story of the Gaza War and those murderous bastards in Hamas. It’s also about their deluded supporters and apologists in the West who threaten all of us!
Other books on my reading list:
‘The Singapore Grip’ by J. G. Farrell and
‘Gold Beach’ by Stephen Fisher
Keep reading!
Andy.

Gotta absolutely agree with you. Read it in one sitting. A timely and important read.

I'm currently enjoying Erik Larson's The Demon of Unrest: A Saga of Hubris, Heartbreak, and Heroism at the Dawn of the American Civil War. I haven't read many books on the earlier phase of the ACW, so I'm enjoying the fast pace that he moves at.

Lately, I’ve been indulging in my understanding of WWI by reviewing Indy Niedell’s “The Great War series. Great series and it has also exposed me to look into more details of this conflict. I’m also going thru my library in somewhat chronological order.

Started off by reading Robin Neillands ”The Old Contemptibles”. A great start as he delves into the political machinations of Henry Wilson to commit the small British Army to fight in a continental war. This is followed by the perverse in-fighting between the British generals and also with their French counterparts. All this on top of the magnificent soldiering being done by the troops. The original British Army was whittled down and finally diluted out with new reserves at Ypres. Not much mention of the French soldiers nor of the Germans except that they were mown down in their hundreds.

I’m now reading Georges Blond “The Marne” which redresses the French contribution to stopping the whole Schlieffen plan and then reversing it.
