I used a car service to and from the airport last year. People on here recommended it. Does anyone know which it is? I was happy when the the price and service and would like to use them again.

A couple of people have mentioned outside attractions or side trips so to speak. I have been coming to this show for the last 25 years and never needed a side trip to kill time. There is plenty to do relative to the show. The only so called down time from Thursday thru Sunday is from late Saturday, 4PM and Saturday evening. That's when rooms shut down and move to the show hall.

Another quick question....what's the local restaurants situation located (if any) within walking distance of the Hyatt Hotel??

Olive Garden across the street.

There's an excellent steak house across the street.

There's a very good pub on the far end of the parking lot, a bit of a walk, but good food.

I think there is a Chinese buffet next to it.

Last but not least, a Joe's Crab Shack down the street; maybe you can go there and get a taste of good old Baltimore, maybe they'll have on the LET'S GO O'S!!!!! on the TV for you there Sammy.

You can also eat at the hotel if you're in the mood for a 42.00 hamburger.

Yeah, I can't tell you how thrilled I'll be when the LET'S GO O'S!!! have the AL East wrapped up by Chicago; has Dumbo hit another nine home runs this week too by the way?

Anyway, enough about that, my blood is boiling just thinking about it........................

There is a place down the street called Portello's, it's legendary, outstanding italian beef sandwich, hot dogs, Gary loves it there, Hans Hedrich has been nice enough to get me and my faithful sidekick Larry lunch there on Sunday, it's out of this world.

Larry and I also found a great breakfast joint down the street a ways, it's great food and beats the price of the buffet at the hotel, plus it's good to get out of the hotel and relax for breakfast and dinner. Larry and I go to Olive Garden, the steak house (Mike Miller loved it last year) and the pub across the parking lot among other places while we're at the show.

We don't eat crap food when we travel (Larry pays for all the meals, he just doesn't know it, so we'll keep that between us...............:wink2.

And don't forget about the Treefrog/Sierra/whoever the third sponsor is/dinner on Friday night with the yet to be announced guest speaker, so there you go, that sums it all up as far as meals.....................

Brad of the bum foot and I of the bad back got to talking, and we may come for 2 days, figuring we can survive limping around for that limited period. After coming for more than 10 years running, it will be my first OTSN since my accident in 2014.

Took my first jaunt to Portillo's last year and will be going back this year. If you don't have a car, I took Uber and it was just a few dollars to get there

Portillos is awesome, as is the Pizza at Lou M. and if you are adventuresome, find a Home Run Inn!

I have never had authentic deep dish Chicago style pizza, most definitely on the menu for at least one meal be it lunch/dinner...Sammy

The only place to go in the whole wide world for deep dish pizza is Lou Malnati's. Unfortunately, I will miss it this year.

I agree with Tom you must find a Home Run Inn (HRI) pizza. I grew up two blocks from the original HRI on West 31st in Chicago. The best pizza in the world (IMHO). I still get it about once a month. I remember when HRI was a small place with a bar, a couple of tables and the kitchen. The frozen pizza is ok, but does not compare to the fresh pizza. The original HRI neighborhood (Little Village) can be a bit dicey at times, although I still attend Church in the old neighborhood. I was at the original HRI about two weeks ago when one my friends came back to Chicago and we just had to go to HRI in the old neighborhood.

Lou Malnatis deep dish it is ok, (The last time I was there was when I went with a group at the Chicago Show), I prefer UNOs or Giordanos. Although, I must admit I very rarely get deep dish.

Not a big fan of Portillos either. Too touristy and franchize (not sure this is word), I guess that is why the tourist love it. The one downtown is always packed, although there are couple of local stands a short walk away.

I guess I am spoiled being from Chicago, I have the opportunity to go to many other local Hotdog and Beef places.

I do look forward to seeing everyone.

Portillo's are all company owned, and were owned by the original guy until about a year ago when Dick Portillo sold the company. There are actually two within not much more than two miles of the Hyatt, both on Golf road, one east and one west. Lots of discussion about whether their beef sandwiches are the best in the area, but I think hands-down most folks agree they have the best Chicago hot dogs. It does get crowded, but the ones in Schaumburg are not packed with tourists, (it's not just a tourist area, other than for trade shows like ours) so the locals know something.
