It looks cold at every game today. My poor Trojans are playing a night game in Boulder, CO tonight. The temps are expected to be in the 20's. They will look like the German army in Stalingrad.

I hope they don't end up with the same result as the Germans did.

The three nitwits doing the halftime show from the ND/BYU game look like they're broadcasting from downtown Stalingrad.

And that weather is coming here, just in time for tomorrow night, Mannings hands are going to fall off.

Well Chris, you can officially add me to the anti-Edsall brigade. I watched him blow the game against BC today and I have to say, it has been a while since I have been this mad over a UMd game. He tries that very questionable tactic of trying to ice the other team's FG kicker. Game came down to a 52 yarder. Hit it and win, miss and go to OT. Well, the BC kicker missed, barely wide-left, but no, Edsall called Time Out just as he kicked. The result was a second chance at glory and the kicker didn't miss twice. Fire Edsall now and save my blood-pressure from more abuse. That freeze-the-kicker stuff is just stupid. -- Al

Close to ice cold here in Texas, 36 degrees. Makes me miss California even more, where by the way, Stanford destroyed Cal in the Big Game today.

Also, Oregon lost to Arizona putting Stanford back into first in the PAC 12 North even if they don't deserve it.

Watched the Navy-San Jose State shootout last night. Navy finally won it 58-52 in 3 OT's. This game took a little over 4 hours to play and finished at 1:30 am, give or take a few minutes. Jeesh! I am beginning to really dislike the NCAA OT rules. These OT games can last forever. Also, this was another one of those games with no defense evident 99% of the time. Navy racked up 432 yards on the ground, only throwing the ball 6 times for another 46 yards = 478 total. The Navy Qb, Reynolds, rushed for 7 Td's and threw for 1, along with 240 yards on 36 carries. Pretty decent night. Meanwhile, SJS was racking up even larger offensive number with 440 through the air and another 160 on the ground = 600 total yards. 110 total points and 1078 total yards on a total of 163 offensive plays. Makes one wish for the occasional 10-7 defensive battle.:rolleyes2: This win gives the Middies a 7-4 record going into the regular season finale against Army. If Navy can win that game and their Military Bowl game, Navy will finish 9-4. Not bad for the boys from Napolis.:smile2: -- Al
Nice article on the USNA football team in the paper this AM. The Middies are now bowl eligible for the 10th time in the last 11 years. Navy currently has an 11 game winning streak against Army and is 9-2 against Air Force in the same span. Navy's bowl teams have never snuck in the back door with a 6-6 record but have averaged 8 wins during this 11 year stretch. A really good record for an underappreciated program. As recently as 2001, the Middies were 0-10 but have done a complete reversal under former coach Paul Johnson (who went 45-29 at Navy) and current coach Ken Niumatalolo (who is currently 47-30). Navy may not have a Top 25 program but they are now consistent winners, and, after all, they do have other important factors to consider besides football. Go Navy! ^&grin^&cool -- Al

Al, I think the running back for BC had something like 263 yds. :redface2: Never was an Edsall fan. Not looking fwd to the Terps fate in the Big 10. :rolleyes2: Chris

Two great games today; Ohio State wins as Michigan decides to go for two and doesn't get it, no OT, game over.

Auburn/Alabama going to overtime tied at 28.

For all the money Alabama spends buying players, why don't they have a FG kicker who can make a gimme, their stiff kicker missed three FG's today so far.

Unreal.

Or not, now they put a second on the clock and Bama is going for a 57 yard FG attempt.

And..............................It's no good, and Auburn runs back the kick to win the game.

WOW.

Ohio State will play FSU in the championship game.

And demolish them.

Oh joy, the weasel wins another championship.

Great.

One of the more remarkable games I've seen in a while. Bama blows a 21-7 lead, plus their kicker can't hit squat. I don't blame that kid for missing that last kick. Bama had no business even trying from that distance, 57 yards, when the kicker had already proved that he couldn't hit on this day. The chances of a successful attempt were nil and that left only OT, IF nothing goes wrong on the attempt. Saban is going to live with this one for a long time. What a terrible decision to flush your season down the drain on. Then again, it took a miracle to beat the best.{sm2} -- Al

Al,
The kid who kicked the final FG attempt was their long range kicker, he was 1-2 on the season, their regular FG kicker missed the other three; actually, one was blocked, another was good but a false start resulted in a rekick, which he then missed.

Just brutal; with all the money Bama spends buying players, you'd think they'd buy a money FG kicker, like that boob that kicks for the Ravens, God what a look at me chump he is.

This sets up Ohio State/FSU, what a shame, Bama/FSU would have been a better game...............

As many obnoxious Bama fans I know down here, I have a hard time getting too critical of Saban. He clearly runs the best program in the country. If he was dirty I suspect they'd have turned something up by now. When you're on top a million darts are pointed at you.

The kid trying the long field goal was not the same kid who missed the other 3, I'm pretty sure. The coaches aren't stupid. He must be their "long kicker" and have hit plenty of 57 yarderd in practice or they wouldn't have bothered.

The number of games they've won under Saban is amazing, especially as it's not a patsy schedule like Ohio State.

In retrospect they made a number of mistakes but guess what, ain't no coaching staff infallible. They all screw up sometime. Still, I suspect Coach Sabans job is safe. :)

If anything it might be a blessing in disguise for Bama fans. Another national championship, pretty as you please, and Saban might have started itching for a new challenge sooner rather than later. A little humble pie can be invigorating and motivating. Wonder how many Auburn kids were shunned by the Bama coaches? Regardless, the myth of unbeatable Alabama has been broken, fair and square. Unfettered dominance gets a little old after a while.

Ohio St. still has to beat a very tough Michigan St. team. With the winning streak at 24 and the NC on the line, all the pressure is on the Buckeyes. Their D didn't look good today against a mediocre Michigan team.

Yeah, I didn't realize it was a different kicker. That's what I get for watching with the sound off.:redface2: I was hoping to see Bama-FSU as well. Too bad for Bama that the game came down to that lightning bolt. Should have been in the bag long before. A 21-7 lead squandered and 4 missed FG's. Just wasn't Bama's night. -- Al

I watched the game with my two sons, they both attend UT. Right when Bama lost the oldest one sighed and said there was no way Saban would leave now, he will feel the need to redeem himself.

Hold on a moment. I don't see Ohio St. demolishing FSU. If Winston is cleared, the FSU defense is not the Michigan one and I certainly can see Winston shredding OSU's defense. If history is any tell tale, those Big 10 juggernauts don't do so well against the Southern speed. As they say, Speed Kills. GO NOLES!

Arizona St. gets another shot at Stanford this weekend and at home. The PAC 12 has been fading out but ASU has been on a killer roll (along with a resurgent USC) so Im looking forward to this one.

On a really sour note, Army got beat by Hawaii, as in previously 0-10 Hawaii. They started out pretty strong but just dropped some close contests and the season ended in disaster. Shame. Navy wins and wins big this year. :(:(

Chris, the big game is nearly here and you and I both know that the season record means very little in the Army-Navy contest, but my take is that this year your prediction will be accurate. Navy has played some good ball while Army has faded. I'm Navy all the way but I watch for the tradition and pure fun of seeing the ground pounders and the swabbies play in this rivalry. Ultimately, with these two teams, you just never know who will win. Go Navy! ^&grin -- Al

Stanford/ASU should be a great game. Stanford's Achilles heal has been unranked teams, lol, so I think they have a chance in this one.

So USC rids themselves of Lane "goat boy aka the cancer" Kiffin and start to look better. Now they decide to hire his dumber clone Steve "the stiff" Sarkisian! UGH. Not a happy time. Another three years of watching the coach wear a visor, stare at his plastic play card like it is a security blanket, and then say things in the post game press conference like "we need to play better" or "we are not a well coached team right now" (as though he has nothing to do with that).

Yeah, that one blew my mind. You'd think with Oregeron and what he's done, why mess with success?? Everyone was speculating they'd take Sarkisian but I just didn't think Haden would do that. Guess I was wrong.
