Figarti vehicles with First legion vehicles (2 Viewers)

I agree with u Mitch
FL screwed up big time with their Stalingrad figures all look alike long faces
I'm an AK fan but same with their figures all look alike long faces
I bought the gun only could'n stand the figures
Bought the AK 232 no AK figures yet
Maybe FL will smart up and change the faces of the comming figures
They use the same stupid faces for all the figures
I cannot get myself to buy any of those figures
They should get rid of the sculptor
They probably would sell more figures
That's my opinion and i stand by it

Mapleleaf, do you even own any FL Stalingrad figures?? I own almost eveyone of them and find them to be some of the most realistic faces from any manufacturer, I do admit I do not like the german artillery group, but all others look great to me, they are indeed set to a darker side of battle, which makes sense, not all smiles and grunting faces that's for sure, I guess I see one thing and you see something else, not gonna argue about it, you collect yours and I'll collect mine...Sammy

Personally I think First Legion WWII Stalingrad Germans/Russians are done extremely well:) and better than any WWII figures currently being produced out there:)....If something better comes along in 1:30th scale "Let's see it".....First Legion is accurate/consistent 1:30th scale (helmets included).....As to whether they go with Figarti..???? Not sure of a 100% match but are close......I have used the Figarti 1:32 Scale Tiger with the FL figures and the scale harmony is "close" IMO....not perfect....The 1:32 scale Figarti Tiger is definitely not a match up in size with the FL Stug and PanzerIII which are 1:30th for sure.....When First Legion releases their own 1:30th Tiger and T-34 AFV's there will be a perfect match for FL WWII figures....But for now I think Figarti 1:30th is the best match with FL.........Not K/C or TG or CS which are more compatible with each other in style and in scale 1:28th....IMO

Lets see some pics ??????????

Maple Leaf...

Thanks. While I think a collector who has the entire range has to have his comments acknowledged. I agree about the DAK range there are a striking similarity running through the ranges of WWII of FL. Indeed, some even could be be the same face in the stalingrad range they are so close. I do agree with Sammy there may be a possibility of a ''darker'' look to them and, that may be what the manufacturer wished for. That can be achieved without facial similarities and, has nothing to do with painting or blending of facial colourway. The similarity is a sculpting decision and that alone is the issue.

What is nice is that these issues which are often discussed in PM and e-mail can now be aired openly on the forum without the usual abuse that rains down for no real reason. As figure prices rise and some already at a premium and talked of in comparison with russian releases its nice to be able to critique obvious issues with any range.

Sammy, I also own almost every First Legion Stalingrad Figure released to date...."No regrets whatsoever"..... I know I have purchased the best 1:30th scale WWII figures available to collectors at this time....Best Sculpted...Best Painted....Best Detailed....Most Realistic...Very well suited to those collectors who want to create "Realistic Diorama's".......un-toy like/ "not cartoonish" as are other brands.......Like I said before if there is better out there "Let's see it".....To each their own.....Well Done First Legion....Keep up the Good Work{bravo}}

Excuse my FL enthusiasm guys.....I will conceed that the AK faces could use some variation I don't collect the AK series at this time.........But the "plus-es far exceed the minuses" for First Legion Stalingrad. If something better comes along I will be on board but for now I'm not seeing it out there from anyone......Time will tell....and to each there own....Best regards and Happy Collecting

Frank...

As always, we may not actually agree on some points (though here we actaully do to a degree) but, you are able to discuss the points sensibly. I have no problem with the enthusiasm you have for FL just as I don't for Rob and K&C etc at least its focused on the sets and not on muck raking and personal abuse.

Excellent post Mitch, couldn't agree more. I have no problem whatsoever with enthusiasm for a collection or producer, its always good to see. No, its the snide, creepy, back stabbing insults aimed at those who happen to have enthusiasm for a different producer from the one you collect, thats what turns my stomach.

Regarding the FL helmets; I don't think it's so much a case of the helmets being too small in relation to the head but rather proportions being slightly off with the brim, the front peak and deeper portion of the helmet that starts at the ears. The transitiion between the peak and deeper portion is too soft in some cases and the deeper portion is a tad understated in some examples. We need to keep in mind these helmets represent the M35 and M40 models, which had the edge rolled under, so these features would also be slightly less pronounced than the M42 models.

As for comments like "FL screwed up big time with their Stalingrad figures all look alike long faces" and "They use the same stupid faces for all the figures", this is simply ridiculous. This implies the FL head and face sculpts are poor quality and out of proportion which is not the case. At this price point I personally think the sculpting and painting is excellent . Are they high end conoisseur Russian, well no, but when I compare high magnification photos of FL figures to other figures in my collection I think the FL faces are superior. Are they all magnificent? No, but show me any range that is. The artillery crew is a mixed bag for me with some figures that I think are very well done and others that are just OK.

This discussion is probably better suited to the First Legion section since it's strayed quite a ways from Sammy's original question.

Me Too........and...Overly EXCESSIVE enthusiasm can be dishonest..especially in the accurate appraisals of product quality. E-nuff said

Good Post Frank....An accurate assessment of the products being discussed.

I own the Brit artillery 13 First Guard 10 Highlanders 9 Prussians
7 Nassau Lord Uxbridge Wellington Vandeler and Draggons
3 French Old Guard 3 French Infantry and 3 Tauride Grenadiers
( officer standard bearer and drummer)
Also 5 AWI the 232 and the 10.5 artillery and adding to it
I collect FL for quality and diversity and love it
As far as Stalingrad is concerned to me it is not the quality and
painting that i don't like(free country ain't it) it's similarity of faces
anybody that don't see that needs to go to Lenscrafter
I was very sad when DAK came out and same old bull----
I'll keep with Naps and AWI
Bottom line u like them u buy them
i don't like them i don't buy them (free country ain't it)
Gentleman happy collecting

It is a good post but i also don't like the people who don't like what you collect and have a go at you,you collect LAH so you must be a NAZI or a NAZI lover blah, blah, blah it works both ways collect what you want from whom you want and having a little heated discussion IMO won't hurt anyone if so don't join in.
I think its quite obvious i don't like FL and im not saying why on here as ive been banned enough for speaking my mind.
I just wanna see some FL guys with a FIGARTI vehicle or vice-versa in a pic please someone..............:smile2:

Unfortunately Wayne by it's very nature the LAH range will attract people's suspicions, you have to admit its a dark subject.However, as you say enjoy what you collect thats the main thing. You can collect just what you like and people can still think what they like, thats freedom my friend.:){bravo}}

That is a world away from someone who is so two faced as to purport civility whilst cynically inviting hatred, insult and ridicule on others simply because of what they collect and believe some commercial concern is an excuse for this, sickening in my view.

My study shows only the Figarti 1/32 tiger works with FL......... I am pretty positive of my findings.....I am putting a scene together to put things in a realistic enviornment and it will be a few weeks.

I don't see how. The 1:32 Figarti Tiger is the same size as the older K&C product like the Winter Tiger and Wittmann's last Tiger. They all measure out at 1:32 and are very noticeably smaller than the recent K&C Tigers which measure out at 1:30. If you want to put figarti with FL how about using the 1:30 Figarti winter Panzer IV with the 1:30 FL Stug and Panzer III (J)? They would go together well IMO.

I have had all the Nazi stuff thrown at me by a small number of the forum. from being a neo nazi to sitting listening to german parade music whilst reviewing the LAH collection!!!!!! I think in relation to LAH we are in a better place as more collectors are showing their collections and, its harder for some who dislike to make a point when there is a lot showing the stuff especially some of the german chaps on the forum now. I do think a forum that is about toy soldiers should be able to tolerate from mods owners and posters the fact that some are not going to like certain manufacturers releases.

I have no problem with the debate about products, all for it really. its the rather strange defences that are used when you critique products. It gets too personal and emotional and that applies equally to K&C and FL collectors. Its like your attacking their family not bits of metal. As I said, all for people being positive and enthusiastic about their collectables but, keep the kiddy stuff like mine is better or, some of the stuff I have seen where threats of violence are made at the door. back up the reasoning with facts thats what we all want to see. no manufacturer makes perfect stuff and there are issues with all (and even, in a eutopian world where every set was perfect some will prefer some over others) once everyone realises that we can have proper positive and negative debates

I very much agree here, we should be able to say what we like and dislike without it quickly going into the gutter and insults being hurled back and forth. It would be good to have honest open debates but I feel certainly in FL and K&C camps views are pretty well entrenched sometimes and a negative remark is taken as an insult. When it comes to LAH, people should be able to celebrate their collection and others to say they cannot stand them, thats what freedom is all about. I must say overall of late the K&C forum has been really enjoyable with much much fewer arguments and personal insults hurled, makes the whole forum much more fun.

Mitch, am trying not to get an image of you playing with your soldiers whilst listening to that Tank crew music from the Battle of the Bulge^&grin^&grin. I'm off to put my goggles and Battle of Britain sound track on whilst I dust my Hurricane:wink2:^&grin
