Let it Snow (3 Viewers)

I was driving home today and listening to WFAN and they had on a local meteorologist. When the host Marc Malousis asked him about how much snow we might get and when, the meteorologist replied that predicting snow is a little bit like sex: “you don’t when you’re going to get it or how much you’re going to get.”

Some pics would be nice fellas for those of us who have never seen snow.

Things started deteriorating here in the last couple hours. Probably 6 inches or more and the last report said 11 more inches tonight. I pity anyone who has to be on the roads. They do an amazing job on the highways but can't keep up with this kind of event.

Here are a few shots from earlier this evening. It seems to have temporarily stopped but the wind is howling.

Brad:

I understand that snow brings an onslaught of misery but I can’t help but find beauty in your pics.

They really are fantastic.

We didn’t receive as much as they anticipated, maybe a foot or less, but it was quite windy overnight and it’s quite blustery right now. Fortunately, no power outages. It will be rather cold today though. The town has asked people to stay off the roads until they can do cleanup.

We received a little snow in the beginning but it turned to rain.It got cold overnight and I had a heck of a time getting in my truck this morning as the doors were frozen shut. The roads were pretty good though.

My wife took this shot today: one of our cats keeping a watchful eye on some furry friends.

Snowmageddon in Maryland just didn't materialize as usual. I figure maybe 5 inches heavy stuff, then freezing rain. Cold this morning, now waiting for melt (sunshine will do more than the rising temperature). Weather forecaster actually looked glum this morning on local news...............you just can't make that part up. By tomorrow, this will be in the rearview and in my future, hopefully never again. As I have said many times, Florida, Texas are looking very nice every time I even think about the snow. Also, no state income taxes which means literally an effective 8-9% raise immediately for moving.

Thankfully the current work from home situation is ideal for this!!!!

Same here. Maybe about 10 inches but a heavy, dry snow to move. Ten inches only sounds like a small amount relative to the forecast. Still a lot of snow. More than we had all last year.

We have just got our Christmas Day forecast ...

Temperatures in Perth are set to nudge 40 degrees Celsius in the lead up to Christmas but an eleventh-hour reprieve will see it cool down to a more pleasant 31C on Christmas Day.

Sounds like a nice COOL Day on the 25th !!!

The ground is already white here. A long snow event into Weds. Maybe a foot when all is said and done. Normally I would sit tight and enjoy but have a vaccine appointment tomorrow.

We are supposedly getting 6-10 over next day and a half too. It is slowly coming down, only laying on driveway. SO, hopefully you have no issues and get to your appt.

We are expecting 10-12 inches. Yesterday I saw people ice skating on a pond for the first time in maybe 30 years (it has not been steadily cold enough for the ponds to freeze solid enough to skate on in a very long time on Long Island). Just what we needed in the middle of Covid: an old fashioned pre-climate change bad winter!:rolleyes2:

Raining all day here. :rolleyes2: Had about 3" of snow last week. BTW, we got 2" the night of Dec 24th, so we had a rare white Christmas. Chris

What's rain ????

Oh, I remember, something wet that happens after Easter for a couple of months.....

We are now in a 5 day lockdown, so I can get on with some painting, but only with the air conditioner on as it going to be 38c today, and the paint dries too quickly with out the cooling breeze !!!!

Like Oz its summer here thank goodness, although sounds like you lads could do with a spot of rain about now.

Been having some weird weather over here, especially in the South Island. Parts of Canterbury near Christchurch been receiving record temperatures of around 39 degrees, then 2x days later drops to zero degrees and damps snow everywhere......totally buggers the vegie garden, but the snowboards are in heaven. {eek3}
